Avon Tyres increases Cobra tyre Production for Triumph Bonneville Bobber

Avon Tyres has ramped up production of its acclaimed Cobra motorcycle tyre in response to the successful launch of the new Triumph Bonneville Bobber.

The Cobra product is the OE fit rubber on which every Bobber rolls off the production line, with the bespoke front and rear tyres specially designed for this premium custom bike.

The new twin-cylinder machine appeared at the end of last year to massive critical acclaim from journalists, industry influencers and the great British riding public.

High demand for the Bobber since its launch means that Avon’s Melksham-based factory has expanded production for the Cobra tyres, investing in additional manufacturing capacity to satisfy increased demand for the bike.

The Bobber’s radical chassis and styling meant that by working closely with Avon’s in-house development team, both firms were able to come up with the perfect riding solution – an all-new Cobra tyre, with special carcass construction and materials to suit the Bobber’s unique set-up.

Speaking about the production increase, Doug Ross, Avon Tyres’ Head of Global Motorcycle Tyre Sales, said: “This project has been a fantastic success for both Triumph and Avon. It’s also a real win for British manufacturing, showcasing the best of British at the highest level.”

More performance

There’s been a major step forward from the previous generation Scrambler in regards to engine, exhaust and rider focused technology. All combine to give more performance and a better riding experience from the new Street Scrambler.

Fitted with the critically acclaimed 900cc Bonneville high torque engine, the Street Scrambler delivers much more torque and power low down and in the mid-range, perfect for around town and light off-roading.  A key update to the original Bonneville engine platform, the 900cc engine features a charismatic 270° firing interval for smooth, linear power delivery from the slick five-speed gearbox.

Enhanced throttle response from Triumph’s ride-by-wire fuel injection and cutting-edge liquid cooling system have been carefully integrated into the unique style of the Street Scrambler. This reduces fuel emissions and significantly improves fuel efficiency whilst providing smooth and precise drive for a higher level of control and rideability. This, combined with a new extended service interval of 10,000 miles (16,000km), dramatically reduces the overall cost of ownership.

The all new, more compact, high level twin Scrambler exhaust in beautiful stainless steel delivers a unique scrambler soundtrack, authentic scrambler style and features an intricate header run that cleverly integrates the cat box and is finished off with brushed stainless steel silencers with stylish contrasting black heat shields.

Enhanced capability

The stunning authentic Scrambler look comes complete with contemporary capability for maximum precision, control and safety and a wealth of advanced rider focused technology including:

Ride-by-wire – Enhanced rideability, safety and control, from a single throttle body.

Switchable ABS – A unique feature on the Street Scrambler that reinforces its capability is switchable ABS, accessed via the instrument menu.
This is the latest generation anti-lock braking system – introducing a new level of safety and control yet remaining unobtrusive and with minimal visual impact.

Switchable traction control – Switchable traction control, accessed via the instrument menu,
helps to maximise rider safety and control.

Torque assist clutch – Designed to reduce clutch lever effort for the rider, bringing a lighter touch and feel to the clutch and making it easier to ride, and for longer.

Liquid cooling – For cleaner and more fuel efficient riding (up to 36% better fuel economy).

LED rear light – Incorporated into the classic design, it creates a distinctive light pattern with enhanced power efficiency.

Engine immobiliser – Thatcham approved immobiliser with a transponder incorporated into new key.

USB charging socket – Mounted underneath the seat for convenient charging of essential devices.

Stylish twin clocks – Feature packed clock cleverly incorporating a digital menu system for fingertip control while riding.

With:
– Rev counter
– Gear position indicator
– Odometer
– Two trip settings
– Service indicator
– Range to empty
– Fuel level
– Average and current fuel consumption
– Clock
– Traction control settings

With a dedicated new Scrambler chassis and suspension the Street Scrambler has had a major upgrade to its capability and has been given more dynamic Scrambler poise.

Just like the Street Twin the new Street Scrambler chassis set-up is tuned to deliver a neutral and predictable ride. This, combined with the same confidence inspiring evolution to  “stand-over” ergonomics for manoeuvrability and seat height considerably lower than the previous model, makes it a really accessible and fun bike for every type of rider.

Contributing to the commanding riding position and signature silhouette are the new model specific front forks and rear suspension units which raise the back end for additional ride height, wider tapered aluminium handlebars and classic larger sized wire spoked wheels. The new Street Scrambler comes with a large 19’’ wheel on the front and 17’’ wheel on the rear, both of which have stylish steel blacked out hubs and rims.

A further increase in specification comes from the new high value 2-piston sliding axial Nissin caliper with machined branding.

Accessible for everyone

To make the Street Scrambler even more accessible an A2 licence kit will be available for models from launch. The A2 kit can be easily fitted and just as easily removed by a Triumph dealer.
Local market legislative requirements will apply.

Add even more Scrambler style and capability

Just like the Street Twin, the new Street Scrambler has been designed with personalisation at its heart and has more than 150 accessories to deliver more rugged off road focus, more style and more everyday usability.

The off-road accessories include adjustable rear piggy back FOX shocks with threaded preload adjustment and 24 position compression damping, black glass-filled nylon headlight grill with a pressed steel matt black finish bezel, and a forged and machined aluminium handlebar brace in a black anodised finish (fitted with a stylish black or brown vinyl bar pad embroidered with the Triumph logo).

For even more style the accessories range includes slip-on Vance & Hines single exit silencers, a traditional scrambler twin bench seat and 70mm diameter bar end peep mirrors in anodised black or clear aluminium with a laser etched Triumph logo.

For everyday usability there are internally wired heated grips available along with a steel fabricated centre stand kit, an auxiliary power socket and cockpit mounting kit and highly durable engine bars.

* Please note that availability of the Vance & Hines silencers is governed by local market legislation

This brings a tighter corner exit capability and a more precise chassis behaviour, which can be felt on both road and track.

New Triumph Street Triple Set to Make UK Debut at MCN London Motorcycle Show

After unveiling the 1050cc Tiger Sport at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show last year, Triumph are set to give the all-new 765cc Triumph Street Triple range its UK debut at the 2017 Show. A further 18 of the world’s leading manufacturers will also be showcasing their latest models.

Held over the weekend of February 17-19, the three day motorcycling extravaganza offers the perfect excuse to shake off the winter blues and get up close and personal with a huge collection of the latest machines. British manufacturer Triumph will be giving the newly-announced 2017 Street Triple range its UK debut and visitors to the event will not only be amongst the first in the world to see these exclusive machines, but also be able to witness a special presentation, stunt show and Q&A with key staff.

The ‘new metal’ does not end there though, as a further 18 of the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturers head to the capital to showcase the very latest machines, including; BMW, Brough Superior, Ducati, Energica, Harley-Davidson, Herald, Hesketh, Honda, Indian, Kawasaki, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, Vespa and Yamaha.

The spectacular 215bhp 1299 Ducati Superleggera looks set to be a show highlight, whilst races fans will be able to drool over the new Honda CBR1000RR, Suzuki GSX-R1000 and Yamaha YZF-R6 in the flesh, before the world’s leading racers hit the track with them for the start of the race season.

It is not all sports orientated for this year however; BMW will be showcasing their R Nine T Racer, American muscle fans can find their fix at the Harley-Davidson and Indian stands, Kawasaki will be displaying the all-new Ninja 650, KTM will show off their powerful 1290 Super Adventure R whilst the Brough Superior, Energica, Herald, Hesketh, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, Royal Enfield and Vespa stands ensure the 2017 event is set to be the biggest in the shows history!

Alongside the very best in new metal, the 2017 London Motorcycle Show offers something for the whole family. The free live action ‘Slide’ show once again takes over the centre of the show as TT legend John McGuinness goes head-to-head with ex World Superbike Champions Neil Hodgson, Troy Corser and fan favourite Chris Walker!

Historic vehicle specialist Coys are also returning, putting a collection of the rarest motorcycles and memorabilia under the hammer throughout the weekend.

Tickets for the 2017 Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show are on sale now, with fans able to purchase discounted standard adult tickets online from £17 (available until 14th Feb). Kids under 15 go free. New for the 2017 is the Paddock Pass, giving ticket holders exclusive access to the Michelin sponsored Slide Live Action Arena, a private bar area and tiered seating. A paddock pass is your best opportunity to try and get your favourite rider’s autograph and enjoy Slide whilst having the best view in the house. Paddock Passes cost £40 and includes general show admission.

Rebecca Donohue, Head of Marketing at Carole Nash added, “It’s fantastic to have 18 manufacturers bringing their very latest machines to the 2017 Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show. All these machines, coupled with motorcycling displays in the Sports and Performance, Custom, Adventure and Classic zones means the event truly covers every aspect of motorcycling!

“There will be plenty of exciting things taking place at the Carole Nash stand, including two bikes from Bonhams Auction House, so don’t forget to visit us at stand M110!”

Unparalleled heritage, stunning custom style

The latest addition to the Bonneville family, Triumph introduces the all-new premium custom Bonneville Bobber. Born in a unparalleled bloodline of Triumph bobber customs that stretch all the way back to the 1940’s it perfectly encapsulates the minimalist styling principles, muscular stance and purposeful engineering attitude of a genuine bobber.

Stripping the Bonneville T120 back to its purest essence it delivers all the hallmarks of a real bobber, with clean lines and low stance, single seat, wide flat bars, minimal bodywork and headlight, sculpted tank, wire spoked wheels with wide rear wheel and that all-important hard tail look.

The Bobber’s stunning features include an authentic battery box with stainless steel strap, bar end mirrors, rear mudguard loop, carb styled twin throttle bodies, broad adjustable levers, traditional rubber gaiters, classic rear ‘drum brake’ inspired hub, new side panel and sprocket cover with removable inspection cap.

A genuine factory custom, the Bobber features a whole host of premium finishes including bronze 1200HT engine badges and the signature Triumph makers mark triangle, brushed engine covers, branded locking fuel cap and silver satin and graphite handlebar risers.

There are four premium colour options to choose from;

  • Ironstone, with a matt finish
  • Morello Red
  • Stunning Competition Green and Frozen Silver, with a stylish British racing twist
  • Jet Black

Elegant engineering innovation

The Bobber introduces a first-in-class tailorable riding position, delivered by the beautifully crafted new floating aluminium seat, ergonomically optimised and sculpted for comfort with stitched deep foam pad, and minimal stylish clock – both adjustable to suit rider size and riding style.

The slotted seat design system allows the rider to position the seat ‘up and forward’ for dynamic riding in a roadster position and ‘down and backwards’ for cruising in a more traditional riding position. This is complimented by a simple quick-release function for the clock that enables riders to adjust the position to complement their seating and riding style.

Combined with a low seat height of 690mm when in the low seat position, the Bonneville Bobber is truly accessible to all riders.

Delivering the Bobber’s hallmark hard tail look is an innovative and distinctive ‘cage’ swinging arm with paddock stand bobbin mounts and hidden monoshock rear suspension.

Topping off the engineering innovation is the ‘clean line’ Bonneville technology packaging system, which includes the straight line hidden ‘cat box’ pipe run and the sensitive incorporation of rider focused technology such as the ECU, ABS modulator and immobiliser.

Thrilling sound and ride

Courtesy of the new generation Bonneville HT engine the Bobber delivers category-leading torque for a thrilling hot rod ride and a rich exhaust note. Powered by the critically acclaimed 1200cc high torque engine, as fitted in the Bonneville T120, there is a dedicated ‘Bobber’ tune for more torque and power lower down the rev range. The charismatic 270° firing interval ensures a smooth, linear power delivery from the slick six-speed gearbox.

Evolved specifically for the Bobber to maximise the riding character there is a unique twin airbox set up with two filters, unique intake and exhaust system and new output shaft.

Delivering the rich new Bobber soundtrack is a beautifully finished brushed stainless steel twin skin exhaust system with ‘slash cut’ sawn off peashooter silencers which is shorter and lighter than the Bonneville T120.

Just like all the new generation Bonnevilles, the Bobber engine delivers modern classic capability with ride-by-wire, for enhanced safety and control from twin classically styled throttle bodies, as well as a sensitively incorporated liquid cooling system with a unique radiator and larger fan. This brings better performance and cleaner, more fuel efficient riding.

The Bobber also has an extended service interval of 10,000 miles (16,000km).

Category defining capability, control and comfort

Our ambition was to deliver a genuine bobber – without compromise to the ride, comfort or rider
control, to have it ride just like a Triumph should.

With an all new bespoke frame to suit the unique Bobber geometry and minimal rear end, new forks with bespoke springing and damping, a low seat height, great stand over and first-in-class adjustable riding position the Bobber delivers a truly class defining riding dynamic.

Taking the capability to the highest level the Bobber also features a host of rider focused technology, including:

Ride-by-Wire – Delivering enhanced rideability, feel, safety and control, from a single throttle body.

Riding Modes – Linked to the ride-by-wire system there are two selectable riding modes; ROAD and RAIN. They are selectable via the new switch gear and command two dedicated throttle maps for maximum control and safety in different riding conditions

ABS – The latest generation anti-lock braking system – introducing a new level of safety and control yet remaining unobtrusive and with minimal visual impact.

Switchable Traction Control – Switchable traction control via the instrument menu helps to maximise rider safety and comfort.

Torque Assist Clutch – Designed to reduce clutch lever effort for the rider, bringing a lighter touch and feel to the clutch and making it easier to ride, and for longer.

LED Rear Light – Incorporated into the classic design, it creates a distinctive light pattern with enhanced power efficiency and excellent visibility.

Engine Immobiliser – Thatcham approved immobiliser incorporated into the new key with high value Triumph badge.

Stylish Clock – Feature packed and high quality clock cleverly incorporating a digital menu system for fingertip control while riding.

With:

  • Gear position indicator
  • Odometer
  • Two trip settings
  • Service indicator
  • Range to empty
  • Fuel level
  • Average and current fuel consumption
  • Clock
  • Traction control settings

Finally to enhance the authentic look the Bobber has classic wire-spoked wheels, with stylish black rims and inner tubes fitted with Avon Cobra tyres developed specifically for the Bobber.

With a signature ‘wider rear wheel’ Bobber set up it has a 19’’x2.5’’ on the front, fitted with an Avon Cobra AV71 for reduced mass for high-speed manoeuvrability, and 16’’x3.5’’ wider wheel fitted on the rear, with a category-first AV72 radial tyre with cobra tread pattern for class-leading stability.

Canvas for individual style

The Bonneville Bobber has been designed with customising in mind with over 150 accessories available for more style, detailing and comfort, and for even more performance.

For even an more distinctive character there are high ‘ape hanger’ bars, a statement rider seat and bar end peep mirrors.

For riders who are looking for more long distance comfort there is a stylish comfort seat in a ribbed and quilted version, a heated grip kit and a cruise control kit

To deliver even more performance to the Bobber, Triumph is introducing a new partnership with FOX with a dual branded adjustable rear suspension unit plus a range of new Bobber exhausts from Vance and Hines with beautifully machined aluminium end caps which are adjustable to change the profile.

There is a more distinctive and elegant alternative multi-function 5 inch headlamp – Triumph’s first full LED headlight. This comes with a signature style LED DRL (daytime running light) or LED position light (depending on market). With beautiful Triumph branding and class leading performance both versions will be fully homologated.

To make it even easier for riders to personalise their Bobbers, we’ve also created two exciting ‘inspiration’ kits to use as the starting point to build a Bobber custom, or to have fitted by a dealer as a complete set – the traditional ‘Old School’ kit and the drag racer ‘Quarter Mile’ kit.

The ‘Old School’ Bobber inspiration kit

Triumph launches Approved pre-owned motorcycles programme

Iconic British motorcycle brand, Triumph, has launched its own Approved pre-owned motorcycles programme. Available through the Hinckley-based firm’s national dealer network, Approved Triumph Pre-Owned Motorcycles gives riders increased confidence when buying a used bike.

As part of the programme, each motorcycle is put through a multi-point inspection by a qualified Triumph technician to ensure peace of mind. Alongside a full engine diagnosis, exhaust system examination and electrical inspection, technicians undertake a comprehensive frame, suspension, steering, final drive, wheel and tyre check.

Adhering to Triumph’s meticulous quality standards, brake systems – including ABS, fluid levels, hose integrity, disc tolerance and pad wear – are also scrutinised, while fairings, seat panels, fuel tank and bodywork are checked for correct fit and finish.

Finally, each model is subject to a full road test by a qualified Triumph technician. This includes hot and cold starting, brake function test, gear change operation, stability test and a comprehensive engine performance check. Only when the technician is happy that the motorcycle performs exactly as it should, is it returned to the showroom for a valet, ready for sale to its new rider.

All motorcycles available through the programme will be Triumph models under five years of age from first registration and will have completed no more than 25,000 miles. Any service required within 1,000 miles or 3 months will be completed, along with a multi-point inspection and all rectification work carried out as required. All Approved pre-owned motorcycles will also have a full service history recorded on Warranty-On-Line.

Paul Lilly, general manager of Triumph UK and Ireland, commented: “After undertaking considerable market research, we found that the majority of riders looking to purchase a used model were often put off by the perceived risk of hidden mechanical issues.

“With a comprehensive multi-point inspection, Approved Triumph Pre-Owned Motorcycles ensures that each bike has undergone a thorough performance, quality and safety check by a qualified technician. We’re confident that each model approved by the scheme will perform like a factory fresh bike for its new owner for complete peace of mind.”

Approved Triumph Pre-Owned Motorcycles is available through participating Triumph dealerships and online. For more information, visit www.triumphapproved.co.uk

The all-new Triumph Street Scrambler

Joining the new Street Cup in the Street Twin line up for 2017 – the all new Street Scrambler builds on the Street Twin’s position as the fun and accessible contemporary Bonneville and brings a significant update in capability and style to the iconic Triumph Scrambler.

Purposeful Scrambler Style

The all-new Street Scrambler has been developed to deliver more purposeful and beautiful Scrambler style with unique features and detailing.

Sharing the same contemporary custom styling principles as the Street Twin, the new Street Scrambler has the iconic Bonneville silhouette combined with clean lines, minimal bodywork and modern finishes such as the elegant fuel tank with locking cap, black sculpted engine covers with the Triumph makers mark and engine badge, single throttle body with aluminium finisher and distinctive fined head and header clamps.

In-keeping with the name and heritage, the Street Scrambler is packed with distinctive and beautiful scrambler finishes including;

– Interchangeable pillion seat and aluminium rear rack as standard

– Removable pillion pegs and hangers

– Steel high grip ‘Bear Trap’ adventure style front foot pegs

– All terrain style bash plate

– Ribbed Alcantara-style twin seat with contrast stitching and Triumph embossed logo

– Aluminium headlight bracket and black headlight bezel

– Distinctive competition inspired number-board side panel

More performance

There’s been a major step forward from the previous generation Scrambler in regards to engine, exhaust and rider focused technology. All combining to give more performance and a better riding experience from the new Street Scrambler.

This, combined with a new extended service interval of 10,000 miles (16,000km) dramatically reduces the overall cost of ownership.

Torque assist clutch – Designed to reduce clutch lever effort for the rider, bringing a lighter touch and feel to the clutch and making it easier to ride, and for longer

With:

  • Rev counter
  • Gear position indicator
  • Odometer
  • Two trip settings
  • Service indicator
  • Range to empty
  • Fuel level
  • Average and current fuel consumption
  • Clock
  • Traction control setting

With a dedicated new Scrambler chassis and suspension the Street Scrambler has had a major upgrade to its capability and has been given more dynamic Scrambler poise.

Just like the Street Twin the new Street Scrambler chassis set-up is tuned to deliver a neutral and predictable ride. This, combined with the same confidence inspiring evolution to  “stand-over” ergonomics for manoeuvrability and seat height considerably lower than the previous model, makes it a really accessible and fun bike for every type of rider.

Contributing to the commanding riding position and signature silhouette are the new model specific front forks and rear suspension units which raise the back end for addition ride height, wider tapered aluminium handlebars and classic larger sized wire spoked wheels. The new Street Scrambler comes with a large 19’’ wheel on the front and 17’’ wheel on the rear both of which have stylish steel blacked out hubs and rims.

A further increase in specification comes from the new high value 2-piston sliding axial Nissin caliper with machined branding.

EUROPE ONLY

Accessible for everyone

To make the Street Scrambler even more accessible, an A2 licence kit will be available for models from launch.

The A2 kit can be easily fitted and just as easily removed by a Triumph dealer.

Triumph Launches Game Changing New Bobber at Glittering Celebrity Event in London

Triumph’s beautiful new Bonneville Bobber was unveiled last night at an exclusive, star-studded event in London.

Launched at The Printworks venue in Canada Water, hundreds of journalists, special guests, and celebrities from around the world, including Rupert Grint, Jess Glynne and Spencer Matthews, were present to witness the unveiling of Triumph’s new premium heritage model.

Team Triumph, a host of racing legends including seven-times World Champion Carl Fogarty MBE and three-times world champion Freddie Spencer, lined up against an international team of motorcycle journalists in a head-to-head indoor Bobber drag race.

With a live headline set by NME award-winners The Vaccines and support from DJ Harriet Rose, the warehouse venue was filled from start to finish with an eclectic mix of Indie rock and the sound of pure Bonneville hot rods racing.

Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer at Triumph Motorcycles, said: “Triumph’s new Bonneville Bobber is an incredible new motorcycle with breath-taking poise, presence, and peerless authenticity, so it was only right that we gave it an equally incredible launch before the bike makes its European debut at EICMA show in Milan on November 8th, 2016.”

Triumph celebrates ten years of the Street Triple

The UK’s leading large-capacity motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph, has unveiled three limited edition models of its Street Triple roadster to celebrate a decade since the bike’s launch. These factory specials have been created in association with custom paint shop 8BALL, which will provide a unique livery on the Street Triple R DARK and the Street Triple Gold and Street Triple Grey.

Featuring a 675cc engine, the Street Triple delivers 106 PS with 68Nm of torque for rapid acceleration. The DARK adopts the full specification of the factory’s well-established Street Triple R. The bike features a dark and moody paint scheme synonymous with previous factory DARK editions, with special effect grind incorporating the Union Flag to both sides of the fuel tank. The top of the tank identifies the series number within the 50 unit production run. This model also features a factory belly pan, fly screen and seat cowl colour matched to the paint scheme, and half Alcantara seat with hand stitching in red.

Both Street Triple Gold and Grey editions feature hand painted wheels colour matched to the machine livery, proudly housing the 10 year anniversary logo. Like the DARK both these versions include half Alcantara seats with colour matched hand stitching.

Triumph UK sales manager, Bruno Tagliaferri, commented: “Special edition models are always well-received by our dealers and customers. The DARK concept adopted by the factory on three previous editions has generated a cult following. Meanwhile the two 10-year anniversary models are a huge tribute to the success of this model in the UK. For each of the models, we have chosen unique colours to help the bike stand out and make them truly individual. Additionally, all of the bikes will come with a signed Triumph factory Certificate of Authenticity – so be quick, they won’t be around for long!”

Only 50 bikes of each model will be produced, which will be exclusively available via the Triumph’s UK dealer network. The Street Triple R Dark is available from 1 October, for a retail price of £8,599, and the Street Triple Grey and Street Triple Gold become available from mid-October at a retail price of £7,999.

Bikes, blazers, beards and banter give a two-fingered salute to prostate cancer

Later this month (25 September), dapper gentlefolk from across the Midlands will join together at the heart of British motorcycling, as the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride comes to Coventry. For the first time ever, Triumph will throw open its doors to host the charity rideout, which will leave from the iconic British manufacturer’s headquarters in Hinckley.

A global phenomenon founded by a group of Australian friends in 2012, the DGR aims to raise money for two hugely worthwhile causes – prostate cancer research and suicide prevention. It’s all about scramblers, café racers, classic-styled bikes and bobbers, as well as the charming chaps and chapesses that own them.

Taking place in over 400 cities around the world, rules for joining the rideout are simple – dress dapper, sport your best facial furniture, ride a motorcycle of appropriate character and enjoy a fantastic ride to support a highly worthwhile cause!

This year’s Coventry rideout will congregate at Triumph’s Dodwells Road site in Hinckley, before touring the town and heading out across country to the centre of Coventry. The Tamworth ride will also start from Triumph’s headquarters, before breaking from the group and enjoying a different route.

Martin Hough, marketing manager of Triumph UK & Ireland, commented: “As one of motorcycling’s most renowned global charity events, welcoming The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to our headquarters in Hinckley seemed only fitting!

“The event unites riders from around the world to celebrate everything we love about taking to two wheels, while raising awareness and money for a truly worthwhile cause.

“Welcoming riders to Hinckley is a great way to bring the local community together, as well as providing Triumph fans with exclusive access to the Triumph site.”

Mark Hawwa, founder of the DGR, commented: “When I started the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, I wanted to change the perception of men on motorcycles and show our sophistication and style. We are an inclusive and friendly community. Having fun and a smile is what it’s all about!

“Since the first rideout in 2013, the event has grown exponentially, with more than 37,000 participants taking part globally last year. As well as continuing to raise money for prostate cancer research, we are also focusing our health goals on suicide prevention for 2016, following the tragic loss of one of our ride hosts to depression.”

Taking place in more than 400 cities worldwide, the DGR is free to all with a donation encouraged for those participating.

Registration for this year’s Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is open now. For further information or to book your place, please visit www.triumph.co.uk or www.gentlemansride.com

Triumph Confirms September Date For Land Speed Record Attempt At Bonneville

Following a successful practice session at the Bonneville Salt Flats, achieving a speed of 274.2 mph to become the world’s fastest ever Triumph, Triumph Motorcycles has confirmed the attempt to set a new outright motorcycle Land Speed World Record will take place mid-September, 2016, weather permitting.

Piloted by TT star Guy Martin the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner will return to the famous Bonneville salt flats and attempt to beat the current 376.8mph record speed on an 11 mile-long course. Despite having a good course surface for testing the team felt that the salt wasn’t yet fully capable of supporting a top-speed streamliner run. In consultation with FIM course manager Mike Cook the team are targeting the September dates as the best possible opportunity for the optimal course conditions required for the record attempt.

The practice week, which ended with the 274.2mph run on Tuesday 9th August, demonstrated that both the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner and rider Guy Martin are ready for the task ahead. Martin’s first week in the streamliner saw him master the controls of the 1,000bhp streamliner very quickly – achieving all of the goals set by Crew Chief and Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner designer Matt Markstaller and his team.

When asked about returning in September Markstaller commented: “We achieved a great deal during our test week at Bonneville and feel we are in a great position to move ahead with our record attempt. Guy settled into the streamliner very quickly and impressed us with the speed in which he mastered both the motorcycle and riding on the salt.

“While conditions were some of the best I have seen over the last few years, we feel there is still some room for improvement. When chasing a record such as this on two wheels the conditions have to be the very best they can be, to give us the greatest chance of achieving the speeds we require to set a new record. We feel that waiting a few further weeks will provide us with even better conditions and put us in the ideal position to make our record attempt.”
