Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC

First launched in 2018, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 has rapidly become a modern Triumph icon, setting a new benchmark in its category thanks to its class-leading riding capabilities both on-road and off-road, its state-of-the-art technology, outstanding specifications and extensive customisation options.

Born from an unparalleled Triumph Scrambler bloodline, including the world’s first production scramblers, raced for fun and glory by legendary racers such as Bud Ekins and Steve McQueen, the new generation has featured in multiple extreme off-road competitions, including the Mexican 1000 and the Spanish Bassella race, repeatedly demonstrating their class leading capability.

A major highlight in the success of the new generation came with it featured in the 25th James Bond movie, No Time To Die, where it received high praise from Lee Morrison, James Bond Stunt Coordinator, who said “the whole stunt team realised very quickly that these were amazing bikes”.

ALL OF THE SCRAMBLER 1200’S CLASS LEADING CAPABILITY.
The 2021 Scrambler 1200 XE and XC represent the latest generation of one of the most capable and unique motorcycles on the market, and one of Triumph’s highest specification models ever. A genuine, class-defining cross over of two motorcycle worlds, with the iconic style and character of a Triumph Modern Classic, combined with the capability and specification of a full-on adventure motorcycle.

ENHANCED FOR 2021
Updated for 2021 along with all of Triumph’s iconic modern classic line-up, the new Scrambler 1200 XC and XE features a Euro 5 engine evolution that maintains all of the Scrambler’s renowned power and torque delivery and delivers lower emissions. Additionally, the new generation update brings a revised exhaust system that delivers improved heat distribution.

FULL SPECIFICATIONS

Thrilling Performance
The Scrambler 1200 is powered by the latest evolution of Triumph’s characterful 1200cc high-power British twin. New for 2021, the engine update delivers lower emissions, exceeding Euro 5 requirements. With a low inertia crank and a high compression cylinder head, plus a dedicated Scrambler tune, specifically developed to give the perfect balance of power and torque delivery for both road and off-road riding, the result is incredible torque from low down right through the rev range.

Peak torque hits 110Nm at just 4,500rpm, while peak power of 90PS arrives at 7,250 rpm. The distinctive Scrambler sound, produced by the 1200cc 8-valve parallel twin engine, is delivered by the twin high level exhaust system which has also been updated for Euro 5 compliance, with the added benefit of improved heat distribution.

Category-Dominating Specification and Capability
The 2021 Scrambler 1200 offers all of the category-dominating level of specification and equipment that gives these motorcycles such unique cross-over Classic and Adventure capability.

The class-leading long travel suspension delivers incredible off-road capability and ground clearance, with 250mm wheel travel front and rear, designed for riding across the toughest of terrains, as well as a supremely comfortable road riding experience. Both the Öhlins twin spring rear shocks and high specification upside down Showa front forks are fully adjustable for preload, compression and rebound damping, providing excellent comfort and control across a wide range of surfaces: from city streets right through to rocky off-road tracks.

Superior stopping-power is guaranteed by the category-leading Brembo M50 radial monobloc calipers, with twin 320mm floating discs on the front, and the Brembo caliper with single disc, on the back.  Such outstanding braking power is managed by the ABS that comes as standard on both models.

Enhancing the multi-purpose character of the Scrambler 1200, high specification wire spoked wheels with aluminium rims and a side-laced design, come as standard, allowing the use of tubeless tyres. Dual purpose adventure-focused Metzeler Tourance tyres are the standard fit, while for more extreme off-road use, Pirelli Scorpion Rally are recommended as an approved alternative option.

The 21” front wheel contributes to the Scrambler 1200’s incredible off-road capability and commanding riding position, and gives great visibility ahead, both when commuting and off road. This, combined with the wide adjustable handlebar position and the adjustable folding foot controls on the XE model, give the Scrambler 1200 its commanding poise and stance.

Class-Leading Technology
Packed with the state-of-the art technology and rider aids, the new Scrambler 1200 XC and XE really set the benchmark. Both models feature the full-colour TFT instruments offering two different design themes, each with three display layout options, allowing the rider to alter the amount of information shown, according to their preferences. The TFT start-up sequence can also be personalised with the rider’s name. The multi-functional TFT display is controlled via the intuitive and easily accessible handlebar mounted 5-way joystick and other switches, all of which are backlit for easy navigation in the dark. High and low contrast displays ensure the TFTs are readable in all lighting conditions, while the adjustable screen angle suits every rider’s height thanks to the possibility of adjusting it.

The new Scrambler 1200 is also pre-enabled for the accessory-fit My Triumph connectivity system. This allows the rider to access phone calls, operate music, use turn-by-turn navigation and manage a Go-Pro through an intuitive handlebar controls and TFT interface.

Triumph’s latest generation ride-by-wire ensures responsive and precise throttle control at all times, and enables the 6 riding modes – Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road, Off-Road Pro (available on the XE only) and Rider-Configurable. The riding modes, which can be selected while on the move (with the exception of the Off-Road and Off-Road Pro modes) adjust throttle response, traction control and ABS settings for enhanced safety and optimum performance in all riding conditions.

The Scrambler 1200 XE also features optimised-cornering ABS and optimised-cornering traction control both of which automatically adapt the level of intervention to maintain the optimum ride, at any lean angle. These features are managed by the Inertial Measurement Unit which measures the roll, pitch, yaw and acceleration rates of the bike in order to calculate the lean angle and optimise braking and traction control accordingly, ensuring greater rider stability.

Benefitting from lower energy consumption, increased durability and greater visibility, the Scrambler 1200 mounts LED lights front and rear, and LED indicators (market specific). The headlight incorporates LED daytime running lights, which deliver better visibility and a distinctive front-end style (market specific).

Additional high specification rider-focused technology, standard on both of the 2021 Scrambler 1200 models, includes torque-assist clutch, cruise control, keyless ignition, under-seat USB charging socket and the internal wiring ready to plug in the accessory fit heated grips, which  have 3 modes and are accessed through a really intuitive button built into the left grip.

Modern Custom Style with Category-Leading Finish and Detailing
Combining Triumph’s original Scrambler DNA, with beautifully crafted modern custom style, these bikes deliver all the hallmarks of a genuine scrambler. From the iconic silhouette with its high level twin exhaust, to the commanding height and poise, the new 2021 Scrambler 1200 XC and XE have true scrambler-defining style.

Just like every Bonneville, the engine presents the distinctive machined engine fins and black engine covers with its classic maker’s-mark triangular Triumph engine badge. These models also have a category-leading standard of finish and detailing, with authentic features such as the seamless sculpted 16 litre fuel tank, with brushed aluminium Monza fuel cap and brushed stainless strap. The custom-looking bench seat with stitched ribbing and Triumph branding completes the striking silhouette while delivering the optimal riding position and comfort when tackling any type of ride.

To complete the unmistakable scrambler style, the Scrambler 1200 features minimal aluminium mudguards, sculpted side panel with brushed aluminium Scrambler 1200 badge, aluminium bash plate and wide-set handlebars. And, the Scrambler 1200 XE gets even more, with hand guards, Brembo MCS lever, gold forks and the crafted aluminium long travel swingarm, which is longer on the XE, with a high specification shot blasted and anodised finish.

The new 2021 Scrambler 1200 XC and XE are available in three colours: Cobalt Blue with a Jet Black stripe, Matt Khaki Green with a Jet Black stripe or the single tone Sapphire Black option.

70+ Genuine Triumph Accessories
The Scrambler 1200 XC and XE have a range of over 70 genuine Triumph accessories. These have all been designed and tested alongside the bike to the same exacting standards, and allow the rider to personalise their bike with enhanced style and practicality, increased comfort, luggage, protection and security.

The comprehensive list of accessories ranges from a new Dakar-inspired fly screen to the durable and practical rugged pannier and tank bag, all adding greater touring capability. There is also a high-level front mudguard, handlebar brace and headlight grille, plus practical options including a centre stand, fog lights and heated grips. To top the extensive range of accessories, a wide choice of locks are available, as well as an alarm.

Fully equipped with a selection of premium Scrambler accessories, fitted as standard, the McQueen Edition is now officially the highest specification Scrambler 1200 ever.

Inspired by a genuine motorcycle legend
Inspired by the original competition-spec Triumph TR6, made famous by the legendary barbed wire jump in the iconic 1963 Second World War classic “The Great Escape”, the Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen Edition has been developed in partnership with the McQueen family. Chosen to ride in the film by McQueen, over of a period-correct German military motorcycle, the Triumph TR6 used in the jump was created by a British Triumph dealer and ISDT Gold Medal racer Ken Heanes, with an ISDT suspension set-up designed for robust stunt work.

Unique limited edition

Exclusive details and finish

The distinctive Steve McQueen Edition will also feature the aluminium high level front mudguard as standard, which, along with the rear mudguard, will also be painted in Competition Green.

In addition to the standard 1200 XE’s class leading specification, the Steve McQueen Edition comes fitted with engine protection dresser bars, which add another layer of ruggedness. Fabricated from stainless steel tubing, these have an electro-polished finish and offer additional protection to the clutch and alternator covers.

A laser cut and pressed aluminium radiator guard, with laser etched Triumph branding, also comes as standard, giving additional protection from loose stones whilst optimising air flow.

The Steve McQueen Edition also features a premium brown bench seat, with stitched ribbing and Triumph branding, which further enhances the overall classic style and elegance.

Aside from movie stardom, Steve McQueen was also renowned for his Triumph Scrambler desert racing, which makes the Scrambler 1200 XE the perfect base for the exclusive edition, thanks to its class-defining capability both on and off-road. The new McQueen Edition shares all of the acclaimed XE specification and performance, including the 2021 engine and exhaust system updates, making the limited edition fully Euro 5 compliant. Being a genuine cross-over motorcycle, it has all the capability of a full-on adventure bike with the iconic style inherited from its legendary Scrambler lineage.

Fowlers’ VE Day Bike Wins Public Vote In Triumph Bonneville Build-Off

Fowlers Triumph has scooped the Public Choice Award in this year’s Bonneville Build-Off Challenge with their striking entry, the VE Day Commemorative Bike.

In addition to the public vote, Triumph brought together four passionate and inspiring ambassadors to present their own distinctive awards, celebrating design, paint & custom work, inspiration and retail appeal.

All winners were announced by the panel of judges in a Facebook Premiere on 28 October.

Thousands of votes were cast via the new Bonneville Build-Off website over four weeks, as nine Triumph dealerships across the UK competed to create the best custom bike. Using a combination of stylish genuine Triumph accessories and exceptional in-house engineering skills, each team designed, crafted and built their own beautiful bespoke Bonneville.

Devron Boulton, General Manager, Triumph Motorcycles UK, commented: “The VE Commemorative bike is a stunning piece of design with a strong British Army theme running throughout the custom build. The bike has combined both modern and heritage elements that seamlessly combine and, what has really impressed me with this bike, is how good it looks from every angle. Congratulations Fowlers Triumph.”

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day in 2020, Fowlers’ winning bike featured girder forks, canvas bags and big bars with British Army heritage as the inspiration for its build. A blacked-out engine and exhaust and addition of commemorative badges on the cases and clocks with genuine WW2 accessories completed this glorious tribute to a time gone by.

But there was more than one prize available this year.

Architect, presenter and Tiger 900 rider, George Clarke, presented a Design Award  to Norfolk Triumph and its Flat Bonnie, while Olympian, CBE and Street Scrambler rider Victoria Pendleton chose her favourite, Reggie’s Café Racer from Oxford Triumph, for the Inspiration Award.

Custom bike builder and Triumph rider, Jody Millhouse of Thornton Hundred gave the gong for best Paint & Custom, to Edinburgh Triumph’s Speed Racer, and Triumph UK’s own General Manager, Devron Boulton picked the Speed Twin JLC from Triumph West London as his Retail Choice.

George Clarke – Design Award

Norfolk Triumph & Flat Bonnie

George notes: “what is not to love about this bike, it is a stunning build in its entirety. When you get up close and start looking at the details you start to enjoy this bike even more. The beautiful 1970’s retro gold paint, the classic tail with the name, the wrapped custom exhausts and extended forks. I absolutely love the detail, great job to the team at Norfolk Triumph.”

Victoria Pendleton – Inspiration Award

Oxford Triumph & Reggie’s Café Racer

Victoria adds: “This bike is not only a beautiful nostalgic 1950’s style café racer, it has also been built to commemorate somebody very special, and that for me really stood out. I love the polished chrome and the tiny details such as the brake light and the fuel cap. Congratulations to the team at Oxford Triumph for this sentimental and inspiring build.”

Jody Millhouse – Paint & Custom Award

Edinburgh Triumph & Speed Racer

Jody mentions: “This bike just popped out at me, the colours and the iconic fairing. The paint scheme is an iconic nod-back to race bikes of the 70s, classic early Hinckley-inspired blue and white highlights, reminiscent of the paint work made famous on the Daytona 1200. The combination of modern running gear with a classic overall look is a fantastic combination and that is what I love about this bike.”

Review by MrDarcy & the Ol’Man

We review the Triumph Speed Twin 1200cc modern classic Roadster, with the Bonneville engine.

This motorcycle is built for cornering; it has a short wheelbase and trail and a steep rake. What is it like to ride? We give you all the info!

We look at the handling, speed, comfort, ergonomics, acceleration, brakes, suspension wheels, design, engine, exhaust and more!

As with all our reviews, we put ourselves in the shoes of the type of person who would buy this motorbike. Is it right for YOU? Watch to find out. Will it be OK if your’e tall? If you’re short, can you ride it? Is it heavy? Is it too much?

We were filming in gale force winds AGAIN so we apologise for the sound quality, although we have filtered most of it out.

We also go over some of the stats like fuel economy, range and what it has, such as modes for Road, Rain and Sport.

Review by MrDarcy & the Ol’Man

We review, at long last, the Triumph Rocket 3 motorbike.

This is the worlds most torquey production motorcycle! Is it too hot to handle or is it for you? We find out.

We look at the handling, brakes, acceleration, ride modes and find out what it is like to ride. Is it stable? Is it good in the corners? Is it big or small? How does it fit different rider sizes and heights? Is it too heavy?

Does it handle like a sports bike or a cruiser. Rake and Trail – we give you the correct info. We tell you the mpg, fuel economy, and range on a full tank.

This beautiful, modern design may not be for everyone, but if you watch our videos, you will at least be able to make an informed decision.

A big thanks to Webbs Motorcycles of Peterborough for lending us their bike https://www.webbsmotorcycles.co.uk

New Triumph Trident ‘Design Prototype’

An original British design showcases the unique style and attitude of the new middleweight Triumph roadster to come.

Revealed at the London Design Museum, the Trident design prototype marks the beginning of a new modern chapter for a legendary name, introducing a new triple-powered dimension to the competitive middleweight roadster world.

  • Trident design prototype revealed at the London Design Museum
  • An original British design, built to showcase the Trident’s new
contemporary design take on Triumph style and attitude
  • Introducing three key advantages into this highly competitive category
    – Triple cylinder power and torque rich performance
    – Class leading technology as standard
    – Triumph’s accessible agile and confidence inspiring handling
  • This new entry point into Triumph’s award winning Triple roadster line-up
will be competitively priced to deliver great value for a new generation of riders.
  • Arriving in Triumph dealers for spring 2021, with more news to come soon.

Four year design project:

The Trident design prototype comes as a result of a 4 year development programme led by a dedicated team in our design facility in the UK, Triumph’s global headquarters, where every single Triumph is designed and prototyped.

Conceived and developed by the Hinckley design team, with additional styling input from Rodolfo Frascoli, the Trident brief was focused on delivering a distinctive, dynamic and attractive new take on Triumph style and attitude.

Working with Rodolfo, a passionate Triumph fan who has brought Italian design flair to the Triumph design language – most notably with our latest generation Tiger 900, the team focused on evolving what a contemporary Triumph should be, building on our recognised strengths and design DNA, the character and distinctive original style.

Following our ethos to develop all aspects of a design in harmony, from the style, to the ergonomics, integrated technology and engine performance the Trident brief centred on delivering the complete motorcycle for the perfect ride.

The Trident design prototype – the birth of a new icon:

The Trident design motorcycle integrates the original design development model with prototype components – built to showcase the style and attitude of the landmark new motorcycle to come.

Introducing an all new contemporary take on Triumph style & attitude, the Trident design presents a pure, minimalistic form, with clean lines and uncluttered features that incorporates Triumph’s design DNA, with signature tank knee indents and key cues from our iconic Speed Triple’s muscular poise.

Central to the overall form and brief, the Trident is built around a compact powerful Triumph triple engine, designed to bring all the advantages of a triple to the category for the first time, with the perfect balance of low down torque and top end power.

With a distinctive and confident stance & poise, the Trident will deliver rider ergonomics crafted to bring all of Triumph’s handling expertise, for the perfect balance of an engaged agile and dynamic ride, with an all-new chassis, married to great rider accessibility, comfort and confidence inspiring feel, including a natural upright riding position.

The design prototype also highlights another key aim with the integration of modern digital technology into the design that brings the features which riders in this world value and desire, in an elegant and easy to use way.

Steve Sargent. Triumph Chief Product Officer

‘The Trident design prototype marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Triumph, where the brief was all about fun, from the look to the ride. With its pure minimalist form, clean lines, Triumph design DNA and more than a hint of our Speed Triple’s muscular poise, this gives the first exciting glimpse at the full Trident story to come. Ultimately our aim was to bring a new take on character and style, alongside the accessible easy handling and quality Triumph is known for – at a price that’s really competitive’.

Triumph Motorcycles helps rugby star David Flatman celebrate UK’s local lockdown heroes

Former England rugby international and Triumph Motorcycles’ ambassador David Flatman has paid an unexpected visit to a local NHS worker’s front door to say thank you  for making a difference  in their community during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Flatman was helping to launch Triumph UK’s #TriumphTogether initiative, recognising and thanking local heroes across the UK who have been playing their part during lockdown. From nurses, delivery drivers and cashiers on the front lines, to everyone staying at home, who are working, furloughed, retired or caring for others, this is a chance to celebrate the many different acts of kindness seen in our communities.

Triumph will be asking fans to nominate their local heroes to receive a surprise gift box in recognition of their amazing, selfless actions.

NHS front line worker Charlotte Chylewski, from Bath, was the surprise recipient of the first gift box. Charlotte was chosen by Flatman as his lockdown hero for her selfless hard work and determination during the peak of the virus. She provided an incredible service to the community, while supporting her young child.

Flatman delivered the gift box in person to Charlotte’s front door, much to her shock*. To see Charlotte receive her unexpected gift box visit: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=673352003499032

“Charlotte is one of our incredible NHS workers putting her health on the line to help save others. There’s no gift in the world that can really acknowledge the sacrifice she, and many other NHS workers are making on a daily basis, but if turning up on her door and surprising her with a prize can help put a smile on her face for even a moment then it’s worth it.”

Nominations will open today until Monday 8th June, 2020. Fans can leave their nomination on Triumph UK’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages by explaining why their local hero should receive the gift box.

Triumph’s panel of judges will select ten worthy recipients from the fans’ entries and a gift box will be delivered by the nominee or local dealer to each unsung hero. The gift will include a special #TriumphTogether award, a voucher for the Triumph Factory Experience** and a Great British Tea Hamper.

For more information and to nominate visit:

Triumph Motorcycles’ dealer network to re-open

Triumph Motorcycles has confirmed its dealer network will re-open in England on 1st June, 2020. In line with local guidance, Dublin Triumph is already open, while dealerships in Wales and Scotland will continue to offer click and collect and digital sales appointments, though showrooms will remain closed.

A range of strict safety measures, as set out by Government guidelines, have been implemented to keep everyone as safe as possible and help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Some of the key safety measures put in place across Triumph dealerships include (but are not limited to):

  • Signage and hygiene stations at entrances confirming social distancing requirements
  • An enhanced schedule of regular cleaning in dealerships and workshops
  • Individual test ride appointments, ensuring effective social distancing and enabling thorough cleaning between test rides.
  • Contactless sales, collection and delivery

To coincide with the re-opening of dealerships, Triumph is launching TFest at Home, a six-week social media takeover, starting on 1st June, 2020.

Each week TFest at Home will seek to give riders and fans a detailed look at newly launched models, families or best sellers. This will be presented through a series of Q&As, product walk arounds, behind-the-scenes footage, media reviews, influencer content and exclusive videos on individual bikes.

In addition to the content being hosted on Triumph UK’s Facebook and Twitter channels, selected dealerships will be hosting Facebook Watch Parties. This new feature enables dealers to host a screening of their favourite videos shared during TFest at Home, inviting customers to join a live chat as they watch together.

Devron Boulton, Triumph UK General Manager, said: “We are of course looking forward to seeing our dealers open their doors again, however, we want to reassure customers that thorough safety procedures are in place for both the workforce and the public. Their safety is paramount to us, so dealers will be limiting the number of customers in showrooms to help encourage social distancing, and have enhanced their cleaning routines and schedules.

“TFest at Home will hopefully provide Triumph fans with exciting, useful and engaging insights into our new and most popular bikes. It’s a chance for those fans that have been considering their next bike purchase over the last few months to find out more about the exciting offers and ranges now available in store.”

The TFT instruments display simple graphic icons on the screen, indicating the status
of GoPro camera, including mode, start film, stop film, take photo and battery level.

This great functionality will enable you to connect with hundreds of millions of places and businesses, and add up to 21 destinations along the route if required, with reliable, location-aware search suggestions.

Once the rider has selected the route on the ‘My Triumph’ app and set-off, the instruments present clear graphic turn symbols on the TFT screen using icons, providing precise turn indications.

This sophisticated navigation system gives riders a simple and easy way to set their route and find their destination, both on short and long journeys.

Triumph’s All-New Rocket 3 Sets a New Record

The all-new Triumph Rocket 3, featuring the world’s biggest production motorcycle engine at 2,500cc, delivering the highest torque of any production motorcycle you can buy with 221Nm @ 4,000rpm, has demonstrated an incredible acceleration by setting a staggering new Triumph production motorcycle record of 0-60 mph in 2.73 seconds.

Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer for Triumph Motorcycles said; “Triumph has once again demonstrated truly outstanding capability. With the new Triumph acceleration record achieved by the Rocket 3 R, we again enter uncharted territory because never before has a Triumph motorcycle reached such an incredible acceleration. Our goal was to showcase the exceptional performance of the Rocket’s unique, all-new 2,500cc triple powerplant. We have now achieved this, making the entire team incredibly proud. With the Rocket 3 line-up, we have consistently shown that we can build the highest capacity production motorcycles, capable of offering incredible performance and capability in return.”

The record-breaking moment

The 0-60 mph acceleration was reached at exactly 2.73secs on Sunday 6th October 2019 on the Cartagena track in Spain. The rider of the record-breaking Rocket 3 said; “It was great to experience this truly incredible acceleration. It’s hard to describe just what this motorcycle is capable of. The Rocket 3 R was well prepared and I felt very confident – even in this racetrack set-up. As early as the first attempt we made, I felt that the acceleration was so strong and that we would be successful. The Rocket 3 R ran perfectly and the track and weather conditions were ideal. The whole team did a fantastic job.”

After the 0-60 record, the team were also able to enjoy taking the Rocket to its limits on track, even sliding it into corners at speed and showing just how nimble and dynamic the handling is. The rider further commented; “It is remarkable how easy it is to take the new Rocket through corners. This bike handles more like a Speed Triple rather than a muscle roadster.”

The special record-breaking Triumph Rocket 3 R

In preparation for the record attempt, a team of engineers from various disciplines prepared a pre-production version of the all-new Rocket 3 under the direction of Triumph’s Chief Engineer Stuart Wood. In addition to achieving optimum grip, the team attached great importance to making weight savings across the bike, but even so the Rocket 3 R was in near-production set-up: only the mirrors and number plate holder were removed as required for the racetrack environment.

The Triumph team were supported by the British tyre manufacturer Avon.
Stuart Wood commented; “Their expertise fed directly into the project. The record would not have been possible without our partners, Avon has been our tyre partner for the Rocket 3 project and ensured the necessary grip and stability. The Avon Cobra Chrome tyres already used on the Rocket 3 line-up were developed especially for this model and offer exceptional grip and incredible durability.
