  • Action vehicles from the new James Bond film No Time To Die now on show at Bond In Motion
  • Special Effects Supervisor Chris Corbould, Stunt Coordinator Lee Morrison and Stunt Driver Mark Higgins give insight into creating the spectacular stunt sequences in No Time To Die
  • Bond In Motion at London Film Museum, Covent Garden, is the largest official collection of original James Bond vehicles in the world

Included in the new display are:

  • James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 stunt replica with damage and bullet hits
  • James Bond’s Aston Martin V8
  • James Bond’s Land Rover Series III from Jamaica
  • Ash’s New Land Rover Defender 110 with continuity damage from Norway sequence
  • Primo’s Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE as seen in Matera, Italy
  • Nomi’s Royal Alloy GT125 scooter from Jamaica

CHRIS CORBOULD, SPECIAL EFFECTS AND ACTION VEHICLES SUPERVISOR

No Time To Die is Chris Corbould’s 15th James Bond film and his 9th as Special Effects Supervisor.

“The action vehicles team consisted of approximately 20 technicians working in conjunction with numerous engineers from Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover.

“Initial talks with Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover commenced in October 2018, and many detailed conversations were held to discuss the film’s requirements. Aston Martin built eight bespoke DB5’s along with an extensive spares package capable of completing the rapidly evolving action sequence in Matera. They also supplied three Aston Martin V8’s as used in The Living Daylights and two of the latest DBS Superleggera.

“At the same time discussions were being held with Jaguar Land Rover to produce the first batch of eight New Land Rover Defenders, a mission shrouded in secrecy as the world had no idea at this stage of the design.

“A number of the DB5s and the Defenders were fitted out with complete roll cages, safety fuel cells, fire extinguisher systems, hydraulic hand brakes, battery isolators, rally seats and five-point harnesses. Q Branch gadgets on the DB5 include revolving M134 mini-guns appearing from the drop-down headlights, traditional smoke screen, mines dropping from under the rear bumper and an LED number plate creating a modern take on the Goldfinger (1964)revolving version.

“Other vehicles that played special roles in the film include Bond’s Land Rover Series 111, a Royal Alloy GT125 scooter used in Jamaica, and a Triumph Scrambler motorbike used in Matera.

“I think the audience will be thrilled to see the DB5 in full battle mode driving at speed through the streets of historic Matera in Italy. As the city is built on the side of a hillside, the balconies, roofs and gardens created a natural amphitheatre, and the public clapped and applauded whenever the iconic Bond car was in action.”

LEE MORRISON, STUNT COORDINATOR

“I’m the No Time To Die Stunt Coordinator, responsible for a team of 100 professional stunt people. It’s my fifth Bond film, and the stunts get bigger and more ambitious every time.

“All the vehicles we used in the film performed brilliantly. We knew we wanted to achieve something off-road and the New Defender didn’t disappoint. We put the vehicles through the most extreme conditions in a chase sequence, and they were unstoppable.

“The three Triumph scramblers and the Tiger 900 we used were specially modified to handle the rigours of the action sequences in Norway and Italy, part of which can be seen in the first trailer. I’m really proud of the stunts we created, and I’m excited to see the audience reaction when the film is released.”

MARK HIGGINS, STUNT DRIVER

“I drove the DB5s in No Time To Die. Eight stunt replica cars were designed and built for the film, they all had a role to play in different configurations and were fantastic and rewarding to drive, it’s a very special car.

“We filmed in Italy for seven weeks in the summer. Matera is an incredible city, but a challenging environment for a car chase with its narrow cobbled streets, low grip and lots of people around.

No Time To Die is my fourth Bond film. It was a great job to work on, and I can’t wait to see the finished sequence in April.”

Exciting New Partnership Of James Bond And Triumph Motorcycles

Triumph Motorcycles’ all new Tiger 900 and Scrambler 1200 will feature in the 25th James Bond film No Time To Die, released April 2020

Triumph Motorcycles is incredibly proud to announce a new partnership with the 25th official James Bond film, No Time To Die, and EON Productions. The Triumph design workshop team collaborated with the stunt team from the film to configure several feature motorcycles, including the special preparation of Tiger 900 and Scrambler 1200 models for extreme and dynamic action sequences.

Triumph’s CEO Nick Bloor said; Here at Triumph we are delighted to partner with the latest James Bond film, No Time To Die. Triumph Motorcycles is fortunate to have a rich history of featuring in many incredible blockbuster films, so the big screen is no stranger to our brand. We know that our motorcycles are hugely capable and we cannot wait to see them in action when the film airs, including the new and eagerly anticipated Tiger 900 model.

James Bond stunt coordinator Lee Morrison said; “Triumph gave us early Tiger 900 prototypes before launch so we could film in 3 key locations well before the bike’s official reveal. I have to say that we have literally thrown everything at them. Big craggy sharp rocks, deep boggy mud, high speeds, big jumps and huge climbs and descents across a variety of conditions. The Tigers really have stood up to the task incredibly well, with no mechanical issues, and to me this really proves their go-anywhere credentials.”

No Time To Die, will be released globally from April 2, 2020 in the U.K. through Universal Pictures International and in the U.S on April 10, from Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios via their United Artists Releasing banner.

The world’s longest running adventure bike story

The Triumph Tiger has an incredibly rich history, with a bloodline of dedicated off-road models spanning the last 80+ years. Starting in 1936 with the first Tiger competition models, the Tiger name has played a significant role in establishing the adventure category – from racing, to rallies, and to the birth and boom in adventure travel.

Launched in 2010, the Tiger 800 established a leading position in the middleweight adventure segment with its neutral and precise handling, torque rich triple engine, and accessibility to all riders. And in January 2018, during the development programme for the new model, the ‘Tiger Tramontana’ gave viewers of the gruelling Pan-Africa rally a very early hint of the aggressive new styling and poise of the new Tiger 900.

Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro

All-new more powerful and responsive 900cc Euro 5 compliant triple engine with innovative new configuration

The all-new higher capacity and higher performance 900cc engine is now fully Euro 5 compliant, and has a new unique 1,3,2 firing order for greater character and feel. The result is improved intake noise under load, more feedback from the engine to the rider, an incredibly distinctive engine sound, and improved tractability and throttle feel, pulling harder, lower down. The result of that is a much closer association to the throttle character, sound and feel of a twin lower down, whilst maintaining all the torque, feel and delivery in the mid-range and top-end of a triple.

The new engine delivers a massive 10% more peak torque than the previous Tiger 800 models, now 87Nm at 7,250rpm, with improved torque low down and across the rev range. Power is also up across the entire rev range, with 9% more in the mid-range, and 95PS peak power at 8,750rpm.

Combined, this delivers more responsive acceleration, with 0-60mph, 0-110mph and 6th gear roll on times all significantly beating the previous generation model and the closest competition. Additionally, it gives the new Tiger 900 a much more aggressive, raspy and engaging triple soundtrack.

An all-new twin radiator set up is mass optimised with a reduced coolant volume. This improves cooling performance, and reduces the ambient heat felt by the rider. The new radiator style enhances the new models’ more striking adventure bike stance and poise. Its shape and position enable a further forward engine position, resulting in a more optimised centre of gravity (40mm forward and 20mm lower). This improves weight distribution for better handling and low speed balance, whilst other improvements to the sump and cooling system ensure it has no impact on ground clearance.

There’s also an all-new air box with a more easily accessible new air filter, plus a slip and assist clutch for added rider comfort.

Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro

Significantly lighter, all-new benchmark-setting chassis

Now up to 5kg lighter than the previous generation model, the new generation 900 delivers the most commanding and agile Tiger ride ever. The new steel trellis frame is not only lighter, but now has a modular construction, with bolt-on aluminium rear sub-frame and bolt-on pillion hangers, delivering the most adventure-centric set-up ever for off-road focused riding.

There is a very high specification of suspension across the new 900 range with premium Marzocchi or Showa components tailored to deliver the ultimate capability for the benchmark-setting new middleweight adventure bikes.

For maximum rider convenience and comfort, the GT Pro model features segment-leading electronically adjustable rear suspension, allowing the rider to adjust the rear preload and damping settings via a dedicated menu in the TFT instruments. Riders can select from nine levels of damping control, ranging from Comfort (softest) to Sport (firmest), and four preload set-ups.

All of the new Tiger 900 models now feature category-leading Brembo Stylema® brakes for superior stopping power. These are lightweight, compact, carefully sculpted and high performing calipers, with reduced volume around the pistons and brake pads, reducing the internal space occupied by brake fluid, delivering a more immediate braking response. Increased airflow around the brake pads also helps the calipers to cool quicker.

This combination of new lightweight modular frame, new lighter weight engine, high specification suspension and premium Brembo brakes delivers a step change in agility and capability, ensuring exceptional handling in all riding scenarios.

Long distance travel has been improved on the new Tiger 900 range, with a new larger 20 litre fuel tank and new adjustable screen, delivering superior wind protection with a simple single-handed adjustment.

Ergonomics are also improved for the new models, optimised for rider comfort when touring, off-roading and anything in between. The seat width is narrower, and the handlebars are 10mm closer, giving a more comfortable upright riding position, and a greater level of rider control when static and on the move. Additionally, each model has a dedicated and unique footrest position to suit the expected style of riding, and a built-in easily adjustable two-position seat height mechanism. This enables the rider to change the seat height by 20mm to their preferred set-up.

This supports the automatic selection of the appropriate level of ABS and traction control intervention by constantly measuring roll, pitch, yaw and acceleration rates, in order to calculate the lean angle. This fully integrated technology system ensures greater riding stability at all times.
  • Up to six riding modes – Riding modes adjust throttle response, ABS and traction control settings for maximum rider control in all riding conditions. The new anti-stall feature on the Off-Road and Off-Road Pro modes automatically increases the idle revs to prevent stalling. Triumph’s incredible new London flagship store

Triumph Motorcycles has launched a new Central London dealership, heralding the return of the iconic brand’s presence in the Capital.

Based in Vauxhall’s instantly recognisable railway arches, Triumph London officially opened its doors last night with a VIP party for customers, celebrities and ambassadors and starring two new 2020 models – the Rocket 3 and Street Triple RS. Attendees included: celebrity fitness expert, Joe Wicks, British Olympian, Victoria Pendleton and 2016 Bake-Off star, Selasi Gbormittah

The dealership has been opened by award-winning retailer, Lind Automotive Group, which already boasts three other Triumph dealers within its network, including the newly opened Triumph North London in Watford, along with Triumph East London in Romford and Jack Lilley Triumph in Ashford, Middlesex.

Triumph London, based at Arch 68, Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7TL, will offer an extensive range of new and approved pre-owned Triumph motorcycles, servicing from expert technicians, official Triumph parts, clothing & accessories, Triumph Insurance and TriStar Finance.

Triumph London’s new modern workshop allows visitors and customers to view the space openly. Heritage elements of the railway arches have been incorporated into the design and finish of the new showroom.

Devron Boulton, National Sales Manager, Triumph Motorcycles UK & Ireland, said: “Triumph hasn’t had a dedicated Central London presence for a year so we’re excited that this has now been rectified. As a proudly British brand, it’s important to us that we have a hub in the nation’s capital. And, with the site at the Vauxhall railway arches having its own rich motorcycling heritage itself, it makes perfect sense for our London home to be located there.”

Russ Dacre, MBE, managing director of Lind, said: “The Lind Group are delighted to have been given the opportunity by Triumph to open a boutique style dealership in the capital city. This central London store is a wonderful accompaniment to our three existing Triumph dealerships in East, West and North London. Triumph London offers an industry-leading outlet for motorcyclists of London to experience the world of Triumph, along with a convenient and easy-to-access workshop. This exciting new dealership will be home to Triumph owners of London, but also a place for motorcyclists to stop by and enjoy a complimentary coffee to break up their ride.”

BUD EKINS – DESERT RACER.  STUNT RIDER.  GENUINE MOTORCYCLE LEGEND.
Born in Los Angeles in 1930, Bud Ekins learned to ride in the nearby Hollywood Hills, honing his off-road skills long before he could legally ride on the road.  Luckily, California was host to a thriving off-road racing fraternity and even by his late teenage years he earned a mighty reputation as one of SoCal’s top motocross and desert racers.

By the time US Triumph superdealer Bill Johnson provided Ekins with a TR5 Trophy, on which he won the Catalina Grand Prix, Ekins knows well that in Triumph he has found a manufacturer that builds the kind of strong, fast and light motorcycles with all the agility, responsiveness and power that he yearns for.

Ekins’ success in the mid-fifties coincided with Triumph’s emergence as a major player in world motorcycling, with both parties playing their roles in re-defining what a motorcycle was capable of. Triumph’s famous managing director and design chief, Edward Turner, continued to develop incredible Triumph twin engine motorcycles which were becoming increasingly powerful, efficient and reliable. Johnny Allen held the 1955 and 1956 motorcycle land speed world records using Triumph factory engines, and Ekins was forging a lasting alliance with Triumph motorcycles that would ultimately see him regarded as America’s top off-road racer and also a celebrated Triumph dealership owner.

In 1956, when Ekins finished 2nd in the 153-mile off-road Californian Big Bear Motorcycle Run, the first-, second- and third-placed riders were all on Triumph TR6 Trophy motorcycles.  Triumph’s racing domination was such that when Ekins won the same race the next year, 20 of the top 25 finishers were all on Triumphs.

TOP US DEALERSHIP
Shrewdly understanding the massive potential and performance superiority of Triumph motorcycles in the context of an emerging popularity for the more reliable, lightweight and powerful British bikes, Ekins’ racing successes led him to open a Triumph dealership in North Hollywood.

It quickly became a magnet for many young up-and-coming movie actors including Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood and Steve McQueen.  Ekins lived and breathed Triumph motorcycles and selling them seemed to come naturally, leading to considerable business success to go with his considerable racing achievements.

STEVE McQUEEN
One local motorcycle enthusiast at that time was Hollywood’s legend Steve McQueen. His favourite early bike was his TR5 Trophy, serviced by none other than Ekins’ dealership where the pair struck up an instant rapport. Ekins introduced McQueen to the burgeoning Californian desert racing scene and McQueen was instantly hooked on this exciting underground movement, spending as much time as he could either hooning across the dunes or just enjoying the anonymous normality of passing time with Ekins and his riding buddies back at the dealership.

In spite of the demands of running a successful Triumph dealership, Ekins was still racing, successfully competing in several off-road races including the Hare and Hound, Mint 400 and Baja 1000 (which he helped establish).  McQueen often joined him to race, often using another name to withhold his identity to organisers and other competitors.  He was a fast learner and a fast rider, and as Ekins was such a highly regarded rider who had previously represented the US in the incredibly high profile International Six Days Trial, regarded as the Olympics of motorcycling, he facilitated McQueen’s famous entry to ride for the US team in the 1964 East German ISDT – both on Triumphs. Ekins would go on to win an impressive four ISDT Gold Medals in just seven years.

THE GREAT ESCAPE
In autumn 1962, McQueen was preparing to fly to Europe for filming what would become one of the following year’s highest grossing movies, The Great Escape. McQueen pushed for motorcycle stunt riding in the film and recommended his good friend Bud Ekins to the producers. Ekins was employed on a four-month contract, though it took far less than that for McQueen (with Ekins’ help) to conceive of and rewrite the dramatic highlight to his character’s storyline.

McQueen’s character, Captain Virgil Hilts has escaped a prisoner of war camp, commandeered a bike, and is being chased through stunning meadows in an attempt to locate the Swiss border. As enemy soldiers close in, Hilts must desperately make a spectacular motorcycle jump over a high barbed wire fence, and thereafter reach the relative safety of neutral Switzerland.

Between them, using small trial and error practice jumps, McQueen and Ekins worked out the capabilities of their favourite off-road choice, a 650cc Triumph TR6 Trophy, to squeeze maximum dramatic effect from the scene. They calculated that an 80mph run-up was required to clear a raised twelve-foot barbed-wire fence onto an inclined landing area around 60ft away. All on grass. McQueen was sensibly prevented, by the movie’s insurers from performing the stunt himself, much to his frustration, so Ekins stepped in.

The jump is one of the most iconic moments in Hollywood movie history which still lives on in this way today.  In 1962 a TR6 Trophy would redline at 6,000rpm with peak power at around 42bhp, but the powerful Triumph engine’s responsiveness and the torque from the parallel twin made it McQueen and Ekins’s first choice, and the restored bike on which Ekins successfully completed the jump as seen in the movie is currently on show at Triumph Motorcycles’ Factory Visitor Experience at Hinckley, which is open free of charge to the public.

HOLLYWOOD STUNT RIDER
Bud Ekins’ racing success and friendships opened up a new career path. As ‘that jump’ gained distinction as the most famous motorcycle stunt ever seen in a movie, the demand for Ekins as a stunt rider increased. Considered one of the best in Hollywood, he’d continued performing movie stunts for the next 30 years or so, happily returning to continue his dealership business in between filming responsibilities.

BONNEVILLE T120
1200cc High Torque engine
The authentic character of the Bonneville T120 comes to life through the 1200cc high torque
8 valve, parallel Bonneville twin engine.

Built specifically for the modern classic riding style, with immediate and exciting torque delivery, it produces a peak torque figure of 105Nm at a low 3,100 rpm – an amazing 54% more than the previous air cooled Bonneville T100 generation.

With the pinpoint accuracy and instant throttle response of Triumph’s next generation ride-by-wire fuel-injection and engine management system, the six-speed 1200cc Bonneville engine is engineered with a charismatic tone and 270° firing interval for characterful, linear power delivery.

The engine profile has been beautifully crafted to incorporate key heritage styling cues from the legendary 60’s Bonneville bikes, sensitively incorporating contemporary components to maintain that iconic engine silhouette.

Behind the 1200 engine’s stylish exterior sits a cutting-edge liquid cooling system, carefully integrated to minimise its visual impact whilst achieving cleaner emissions and enhancing fuel efficiency – 13% better than the previous air-cooled generation. This, combined with an extended service interval of 10,000 miles (16,000km) dramatically reduces the overall cost of ownership.

Finally, elegant peashooter style exhausts follow a clean ‘straight line run’ achieved through an ingenious twin skin design that covers the pipe run through the cat box and out again. It delivers the true sound of a British twin, with a deep and rich exhaust note that truly matches the T120 character, tuned to a level you would want and expect.

BONNEVILLE T100

Specifically tuned to achieve high torque low down, it produces a peak torque figure of 80Nm at 3200 rpm – an increase of 18% on the previous air cooled generation Bonneville T100 for a more thrilling and engaging ride.

With enhanced throttle response from Triumph’s ride-by-wire fuel injection and a slick five-speed gearbox the T100 is engineered to deliver a 270° firing interval for a smooth, linear power delivery. Together, all these engine updates deliver a 20% reduction of inertia and a new more responsive and characterful Thruxton RS engine that revs harder for longer, revving 500rpm higher than the Thruxton R.

The Thruxton RS’ distinctive twin upswept silencers add an all-new Euro 5 spec catalytic converter which delivers lower emissions and that unmistakable sound of a British Racing Twin, with a rich and raw note that matches the bike’s legendary name.

Behind the stylish exterior sits a liquid cooling system, carefully integrated to minimise its visual impact and thanks to its Euro 5 homologation, the Thruxton RS achieves lower emissions and enhanced fuel efficiency. Combined with a high first major service interval of 10,000 miles (16,000km), this contributes to a reduced overall cost of ownership.

The original cafe racer
Born from the racing success of the original Bonneville, the original Thruxton played a major part in the birth of motorcycle motorsport on both sides of the Atlantic.

Starting with the legendary Thruxton 500 race series of the late 50s – where the racing ‘Bonnie’ first got its name – the ‘Thruxton’ was a dominating force, with the first top step coming courtesy of British legend Mike Hailwood. In 1969, Malcolm Uphill won the production race at the Isle of Man TT, cracking the 100 mph average lap for the first time onboard a production Thruxton model. In the 1960s, on the road it had also become the bike of choice, inspiring a generation of teenage cafe racers.

Across three significant generations, the Thruxton has maintained its position as the original cafe racer, encapsulating all the style, attitude and key hallmarks. In 2016, Triumph launched to international acclaim a completely new generation of this iconic racing name the Thruxton R – the Ultimate Cafe Racer. A truly modern roadster designed to literally live up to legend, with real poise, real power and real performance complemented with unique finishes, detailing and the highest level of engine and suspension specification.

Category-defining from the very beginning

Light, fast, fun, agile and stylish – the Street Triple has been a game-changing bike in the motorcycle world since its launch in 2007 with its distinctive character and thrilling triple engine. It redefined the middleweight sports category, establishing itself as the first choice for its combination of aggressive looks, light intuitive handling, thrilling power delivery, and its unique triple soundtrack.

Evolving from its renowned 675cc triple to an even more exhilarating 765cc in 2017, the Street Triple once again redefined the category, becoming the lightest bike in class, with all new state-of-the-art technology, high specification chassis and Triumph’s signature exceptional standard of finish and detailing.

And now, for 2020, the new Street Triple RS has been designed to set the benchmark all over again with a major step up in performance, much more aggressive attitude and even better ride-enhancing technology. Combined with its trademark agile, dynamic handling, and high specification suspension, brakes and tyres, the new Street Triple RS is perfect for the street and the track.

A major step up in performance – more power, more torque

For a major step up in performance, the new Street Triple RS benefits from a significant Euro 5 update to its characterful 765cc triple engine, developed by Triumph’s expert Moto2TM engine team. The result is a significant increase in torque, which is now 9% higher in the mid-range, peaking at an even higher 79Nm at 9,350rpm. The new exhaust balance pipe smooths the torque curve for exciting, usable torque from low down and across the entire rev range.

Power is also up by 9% in the mid-range, peaking at 123PS at 11,750rpm, making the new Street Triple RS a totally addictive ride. Engine updates include a new exhaust cam optimised for more mid-range performance, and new higher precision machining on the crank shaft, clutch and balancer, which lowers inertia and reduces engine mass.

The throttle is also now even more responsive, as a result of a 7% reduction in rotational inertia, which, combined with the increase in torque across the rev range, delivers a notable improvement in immediacy.

There is also a new silencer on the Street Triple RS, which is now freer flowing due to the twin catalyst system, reducing restriction and lowering emissions. It’s finished off beautifully with a premium sporty carbon fibre end cap, which delivers a significantly improved, more distinctive triple sound. This comes from the exhaust system refinements and the all new intake duct, which together improves the crispness and purity of the tone, with a smoother balance between intake and silencer sound.

The smooth, refined gearbox on the new Street Triple RS has short 1st and 2nd gear ratios, delivering exceptional acceleration performance and slick gear changes. Higher precision machining also enables the removal of the anti-backlash gears, reducing mass and adding further refinement. Plus, the Street Triple RS retains its high specification slip and assist clutch, for a really light feel, reducing clutch lever effort and improving rider comfort and control.

Much more aggressive attitude, poise and style

Now with a significant update to its iconic styling, the new Street Triple RS has a much more aggressive new look. The LED headlights are all new, with a striking new shape and a sharper and more purposeful style. They are also now whiter and brighter, making them much more conspicuous. The Daytime Running Lights (DRLs – market applicable) have an all new, even more distinctive design, which also increases visibility.

The new Street Triple RS now has all new bodywork, which is more angular, more sporty, and with much cleaner lines. The new fly screen and air intake are now more pronounced, echoing the shape of the new DRL, plus the side panels, rear unit, seat cowl and belly pan are all new and distinctly different.

The silencer has also been restyled for the 2020 model, to be more sporty and compact, with a beautiful carbon fibre finisher with Triumph badge branding. Plus, there’s enhanced detailing across the whole motorcycle, with new contemporary mirrors, a new branded handlebar clamp, and more harmonised component finishes, including blacked out control plates and rear footrest hangers, plus satin metal heel guards and silencer finish. And, being the top of the range, the Street Triple RS has the highest level of finish of all the Street Triples. Now with a new Titanium Silver main frame, matching the finish used on the Speed Triple models.

For even more contemporary style, the new Street Triple RS is presented in two different colour schemes: Matt Jet Black with Aluminium Silver and Yellow decals, or Silver Ice with Diablo Red and Aluminium Silver decals. Both paint scheme options include hand-painted Diablo Red wheel pinstripes and an Aluminium Silver rear sub-frame.

Even better technology

On top of its already exceptionally high standard of technology, which leads the category, the new Street Triple RS now features an even better technology specification. The TFT system now has enhanced functionality with the MyTriumph connectivity system software installed and enabled, ready to be used with the accessory-fit Bluetooth module. This enables GoPro interaction, turn-by-turn navigation and phone and music operation via the ergonomically optimised switch cubes, and displayed on the TFT screen. It also features new style 2nd generation graphic schemes, in four different styles, and four different colours. The TFT screen angle can be adjusted for optimum visibility to suit rider height.

The latest Triumph Shift Assist, up and down quickshifter, has also now been added as standard to the new Street Triple RS, making the bike much more capable, particularly on track. This enables smooth comfortable gear changes while maintaining the accelerator position, which reduces rider fatigue.

The five improved riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport, Track and Rider configurable) have now been optimised to suit the bike’s higher level of performance, for maximum rider control. These modes adjust throttle response, ABS and traction control settings, and can easily be selected whilst riding. Rain mode restricts power to 100PS for enhanced safety and control.

Complementing the new technology, the Street Triple RS retains its extremely high level of standard specification, including ride-by-wire, adjustable ABS and switchable traction control.

TECHNOLOGY SPECIFICATION

  • Enhanced TFT functionality
  • MyTriumph connectivity system pre-enabled
    (ready for accessory-fit Bluetooth module)
  • New Triumph Shift Assist, up and down quickshifter
  • Five improved riding modes: Road, Rain, Sport, Track, and Rider configurable
  • Adjustable ABS
  • Switchable traction control
  • Self-cancelling indicators

Maximum street and track capability

As the lightest bike in its class, the new Street Triple RS has an incredible power-to-weight ratio that is key to its new category leading performance, making this a very agile, exhilarating and accessible bike for all riders. It also has the lightest wheels in the class, contributing to the Street Triple’s agility and precise, engaged handling.

The iconic gullwing swingarm delivers torsional stiffness and lateral flexibility, which maximises stability at higher speed, while its optimised pivot position provides natural resistance to compressing the RSU under hard acceleration. Together these enable tight corner exits and the Street Triple’s precise chassis behaviour.

Suspension is extremely high specification on the new Street Triple RS, with fully adjustable 41mm Showa big piston front forks, with 115mm travel, and fully adjustable Öhlins STX40 piggyback reservoir monoshock rear suspension unit, with 131mm rear wheel travel.

For incredible stopping power, the Street Triple RS features high specification Brembo M50 4-piston radial monobloc front calipers and a Brembo ratio and span adjustable brake lever, plus a Brembo sliding rear caliper.

The tyres are Pirelli’s latest generation high performance Diablo Supercorsa SP v3 tyres, delivering race track performance and excellent grip and stability, from fully street legal tyres.

And finally, for more comfortable pillion ergonomics, the pillion seat is now higher than the previous generation, providing improved leg space.

EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATION

Triumph And The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride 2019

Triumph Motorcycles are incredibly proud to again be supporting the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) for the sixth year running as the main motorcycle sponsor.

On Sunday 29th  September 2019, over 125,000 distinguished gentlefolk in over 700 cities across 110 countries worldwide will don their cravats, straighten their ties, press their tweed, and sit astride their favourite classic styled motorcycle with the aim of raising more than $7milllion USD and mass awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and men’s mental health.

Our focus this year is increase the number of fundraisers and money raised for men’s health through showcasing the very personal connection riders have to the DGR in a campaign called “Ride for the people you love”. This will be shared in the lead up to the main 2019 DGR event with the showcasing of several short videos across the globe of people’s personal motivation in taking part in the DGR. We are sharing these authentic stories in the ambition of achieving a higher fundraising participation, specifically in the support of causes for which people have a deep personal affinity. We tell their DGR story; who they are riding for, what they are riding and the reasons it is so important.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way to combat the often-negative stereotype of men on motorcycles, whilst connecting the global motorcycling community.

That first ride in 2012 brought together over 2,500 riders across 64 cities. The success of the event encouraged the founder to consider how it could be used to support a worthy cause, leading to the biggest global ride outs to date last year with more than 115,000 riders in 101 countries raising more than $6 million USD for charitable causes.

As a key sponsor since 2014, Triumph decided that the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride captures everything to be celebrated about motorcycling and has supported the event directly with the help of our global network of over 700 dealers and 100s of thousands of passionate riders, seeing DGR grow to a global phenomenon in the process.

Our shared focus is on gentlemen who have been dealt a tough hand in life. In particular, harnessing the passionate support of our riders to raise funds for research into prostate cancer, mental health and suicide prevention programmes, as part of the DGR’s mission to support men’s health globally. These funds are invested by the Movember Foundation, who are the world’s largest men’s health organisation.

ONE OF A KIND TRIUMPH PRIZE OPPORTUNITIES

Once again Triumph will provide the main prizes for the leading global top 3 fundraisers, with each winning one of Triumph’s iconic modern classics.  However, this year we will set a whole new precedent by reserving the first motorcycle of the ‘as yet’ unrevealed next edition of Triumphs Factory Custom (TFC) series, which will be fully revealed after the DGR. This will be a one of a kind TFC motorcycle, bearing serial number 001 making it a unique collector’s item and this will never be repeated for sale.

Triumph Factory Custom motorcycles reflects Triumph’s unparalleled impact on the custom scene, which springs from a unique passion and expertise that lives within Triumph. This is a passion that has been demonstrated many times over with a host of unique motorcycles created within a dedicated factory design workshop and the first TFC models – the Thruxton TFC and the Rocket TF

If you are a Triumph fan, you can join the Triumph DGR riding group, which is a global community of Triumph riders all fundraising for a common cause. This group of riders consistently raises a large proportion of the DGR’s global fundraising goal. This year, the top five fundraisers in this team will win a high-value clothing prize from Triumph.

Aside from supporting the ride through engaging with the global community of Triumph modern classic fans and riders, a series of local and national ambassadors helping DGR to grow even more, we are also donating several motorcycles globally for the DGR to reward fundraising efforts.

HOW DO FANS TAKE PART?
If you want to put on your best tweed and plus fours and take part in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride this year, you can get more information or sign up by visiting the DGR Websitewww.gentlemansride.com

Don’t worry if you can’t attend one of the rides, you can still fundraise for the DGR. From Lahore to London and onto Los Angeles, you can also get updates and images of Triumph riders taking part across globe via the official Triumph social media channels.

Born in Glory

One of the most famous wins in Triumph’s racing history, the 1966 Florida Daytona 200, saw Buddy Elmore spectacularly race from 46th on the grid to first place, winning the race on a prototype T100 Tiger – a dramatic victory that coined the name ‘Daytona’.

Returning to Triumph’s model line-up in the early 90s, the Daytona reinforced its legendary position as the most successful name in racing, with the triple powered 675winning at the Isle of Man TT, the British, German, French and World SuperSports championships, and back at the Daytona 200. And with this year’s Isle of Man Supersport race 2 win, piloted by Peter Hickman, the Daytona is arguably still the best middleweight sports bike in the world.

Now, celebrating Triumph’s exciting return to the top tier of racing as the exclusive engine supplier to the Moto2 World Championship, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition represents the highest ever specification of this British racing legend, and a unique partnership with the FIM MotoGP World Championship.

Your Moto2™ factory ride

Designed by the same expert team that developed the Moto2 engine, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition features a unique new Moto2-derived triple engine delivering Triumph’s highest ever power and torque from a production 765. With peak power of 130 PS at 12,250 rpm, and peak torque of 80 Nm at 9,750 rpm, the new engine delivers race-bred power and performance for the road. And that exciting upgrade can be felt low down and across the entire rev range, with a unique tune and the advanced ECU from the Street Triple RS.

The engine features a number of components and performance upgrades derived directly from the Moto2 engine development programme, including titanium inlet valves, stronger pistons, MotoGP-spec DLC coated gudgeon pins, new cam profiles, new intake trumpets, modified con rods, intake port, crank and barrels, and an increased compression ratio. The engine is also higher revving than the Street Triple RS engine by 600 rpm, with a red line now up at 13,250 rpm.

The new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition also features a new exhaust system with a beautifully TIG-welded high-performance Moto2-inspired Arrow titanium race can, delivering that unbelievable Moto2 sound! Developed bespoke for Triumph for this new model, the new side-mounted, upswept style silencer has been optimised for performance, reliability, efficiency and lightness.

As the closest you can get to a genuine Moto2 factory ride for the road, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition features a new gearbox with track optimised gear ratios. The first gear ratio has been directly informed by the Moto2 engine development programme.

The highest ever specification Daytona

The highest ever specification of Triumph’s championship-winning racer, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition, will feature superbike-spec lightweight Brembo Stylema® brakes. Compact and carefully sculpted, these are Brembo’s highest performance brakes for immediate response, chosen for their durability on track and quick cooling. Other premium components from Brembo include the span and ratio-adjustable brake lever and MCS radial master cylinder.

The new Daytona also features Pirelli’s latest generation highest-performance road tyres, the Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres, optimum for road and track precision. And there’s high specification race-proven Öhlins front and rear suspension – 43mm NIX30 front forks, and TTX36 rear shocks – both fully adjustable for rebound, compression and rebound.

On top of the highest ever specification and higher capacity engine, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition is now even lighter than the previous Daytona, for maximum agility and a dynamic race-inspired ride. This is delivered by its lighter weight main frame and swing arm, in addition to its new lightweight full carbon fibre bodywork. The new Daytona also features the lightest wheels in class – sporty five-spoke 17-inch cast aluminium alloys, for maximum agility and exceptional handling, with race-developed anti-slip high gloss black paint.

Precision-perfect chassis

The eagerly-anticipated new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition shares the same precision-perfect chassis as the Moto2 engine development prototype, and the BSB championship-winning and multiple Isle of Man TT Supersports winning Daytona R. This is due to its unbeatable agility and precision, which, on top of the highest ever specification, makes this new model is the most dynamic and precise handling Daytona ever produced.

Designed for exceptional road and track capability, the new Daytona has a pure single seat set-up, reducing weight and reinforcing its sporting intent. There is also a new smoother track-optimised seat material that enables easier rider movement across the seat, and a race-inspired rear pad integrated into the rear bodywork.

The most technology ever on a Daytona

A significantly higher level of modern technology is now featured as standard on the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition, including category-leading full-colour TFT instruments with a unique new Moto2 Triumph co-branded start-up graphic and lap timer, making this the most technology ever on a Daytona. And for simple intuitive access to the instruments while riding, the new Daytona features the latest multi-function ergonomically-optimised switch cubes with five-way joystick control.

Also for the first time ever on a Daytona, riders can take advantage of five new riding modes – Rain, Road, Rider Configurable, Sport and Track – all of which adjust the throttle map, traction control settings and ABS settings to suit the riding style and road conditions, enabled via ride-by-wire.

Track ready and performance focused, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition also features Triumph Shift Assist as standard – the up and down quickshifter for clutchless gear changes – perfect for focused riding and track enthusiasts.

Race focused poise and style

In true racing style, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition features new lightweight full carbon fibre bodywork, consisting of a new single piece cockpit, full fairing, re-styled rear unit, front mudguard, hugger, upper chain guard and race-spec lower chain guard.

Inspired by the Union Jack style livery of the Moto2 engine development bike, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition features official Moto2 branding and a unique paint scheme in Carbon Black, Graphite Grey and Aluminium Silver, with a unique distinctive exposed carbon fibre effect, and Aluminium Silver tank decals.

Completing its performance-focused poise and style, the main frame and swing arm have a distinctive clear anodised finish, significantly reducing weight versus traditional powder coating. This, along with the characteristic twin headlight, rear paddock stand bobbins and LED indicators, make the stylish new Daytona Moto2 765 ready for any road or track.

Rare, special and unique

With a limited run of only 765 motorcycles for the US and Canada, and 765 for Europe, Asia and the rest of the world, the new Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition is rare, special and truly unique – and the customer demand to date has been overwhelmingly positive. Each bike features a beautiful billet machined Moto2 branded aluminium top yoke displaying its laser etched unique limited edition number.

Race-inspired accessories

With over 35 genuine Triumph accessories available for this new model, customers can tailor their Daytona to their own personal needs, with styling, protection and security features. New accessories include contemporary scrolling LED indicators with gloss black cast aluminium bodies, plus a beautiful machined aluminium rear brake reservoir with a laser etched Triumph branded lid. Additionally riders can add engine and fork protectors, a tail tidy and TPMS.

Triumph launches Rocket 3 roadster line-up on Avon’s Cobra Chrome tyre

Available in two models, the R and GT, the Rocket 3 boasts a world’s largest production motorcycle engine capacity of 2500cc, which delivers the highest torque of any production motorbike and unparalleled acceleration, while offering a beautifully smooth, responsive and incredibly refined ride.

Avon Tyres, the OE supplier to Triumph Motorcycles, contributed to the end result by developing a new Cobra Chrome tyre especially for the Rocket 3 line-up. Imposing tyre sizes of 150/80 ZR17 at the front and 240/50 ZR16 at the rear add to the roadster’s distinctive muscular presence.

Avon’s Cobra Chrome tyre features exquisite details. Consistent with its name, the edge of the tread is reminiscent of snake skin, and a raised logo in the form of a Cobra head further enhances its aesthetics. Meanwhile, the new tread pattern on the front and rear has been developed for exceptional grip and incredible mileage.

“We are proud to be the tyre of choice for such an iconic brand as Triumph Motorcycles. The Rocket 3 roadster is the pinnacle of motorcycles. To see our Avon Cobra Chrome tyre fitted on both models really is a testimony to the tyre’s performance.” Dominic Clifford, Global Avon Motorcycle Manager

THE BIGGEST PRODUCTION MOTORCYCLE ENGINE IN THE WORLD

Both new Rocket 3 models are equipped with the all-new 2,500cc triple engine, which offers even higher capacity and performance than its predecessor – for amazing acceleration and
all-day any-gear effortless riding, two-up or on your own.
The new Rocket 3 engine brings an amazing step up in peak power with 167 PS @ 6,000 rpm, which is 11% up on its predecessor. With more power from a low 3,500rpm, and all the way up to a higher red line of 7,000rpm, the new Rocket 3 delivers a staggering level of performance.
The Rocket 3 engine also has the highest torque figure of any production motorcycle available to buy, with 221 Nm – an astounding 71% more than its closest competition. The distinctive hydroformed three-header exhaust run is an iconic design detail on both the Rocket 3 R and Rocket 3 GT. For exceptional levels of rider comfort and a commanding level of control over the Rocket 3’s powerful performance, a new ’torque assist’ hydraulic clutch provides the rider with a light clutch action by reducing lever effort. Just like all the latest range of Triumphs, the Rocket 3 engine delivers modern capability with ride-by-wire throttle, as well as a sensitively incorporated liquid cooling system for enhanced performance and an even more efficient ride.

The Rocket 3 R model features roadster-style handlebars, while the Rocket 3 GT model has touring-oriented handlebars enhancing its touring comfort and capability.

Triumph Motorcycles announces partnership with Spyder Motorcycles

Fans of Triumph Motorcycles can now enjoy the thrill of the open road on a leased or rented Triumph, thanks to the manufacturer’s new partnership with Spyder Motorcycles.

Spyder, which offers motorbike hire, short-term leasing and fly-and-ride tours, is now offering the Triumph Scrambler 1200, Speed Twin, Street Triple RS and the Tiger 1200 and 800 XRX models to lease or hire in the UK and across Europe.

Riders can enjoy trouble-free motorcycling on the machines – all covered by fully comprehensive insurance – for as little as a day, a week or more.

In addition to rental, Spyder Motorcycles also offers a convenient short-term leasing option. As well as the same insurance cover, the option also includes scheduled maintenance and an allowance of 800 miles per month, with the option to buy extra mileage if required.

For riders looking to spend more time on two wheels, Spyder Club Membership offers the ideal solution. For a monthly fee, riders can buy days and miles and have access to the club fleet with the option of either having the bikes delivered or picking them up from the company’s Silverstone headquarters.

Devron Boulton, National Sales Manager, said: “Not everyone is in a position to own a Triumph and enjoy their superb engineering and rideabilty, which is why we are delighted to have our motorcycles on the Spyder fleet. It gives riders the opportunity to enjoy our product and the benefits that short-term hire and leasing brings.”

Spyder Motorcycles is also an official Isle of Man (IOM) TT travel partner and will be supplying riders with Triumph motorcycles to rent for the legendary IOM TT in 2020.

Adding to its unbeatable performance, the Rocket 3 TFC engine features state-of-the-art components such as lightweight titanium inlet valves which allow for even higher revving than the previous Rocket and tailor made features such as the unique Arrow silencers with carbon fibre end-caps.

Heart-Stopping Muscular Presence

With incredibly imposing poise and stance and beautifully distinctive details, such as new signature twin LED headlights, the new Rocket 3 TFC features unique lightweight carbon fibre bodywork, including front mud-guard, silencer end caps and exhaust heat shields, fly screen, drive shaft cover, heel guards and tank strap.

The Rocket 3 TFC’s clean uncluttered style and muscular feel is further enhanced by new intricate twenty spoke cast aluminium wheels with imposing 240mm rear tyre width and commanding internally wired flat handlebars.

Additional exquisite finish and detailing includes the one-of-a-kind premium twin ‘carbon black and matt carbon black’ paint scheme with brushed foil decals, gold accents and electroformed 3D Triumph badge, and elegantly hidden pillion footrests contributing to clean minimal rear end.

Category Dominating Technology
The new Rocket 3 TFC offers unparalleled class-leading technology, setting an incredibly high standard, designed to deliver the ultimate riding experience.

The latest generation full-colour 2nd generation TFT instruments add even more sophistication and a major step up in functionality over the previous Rocket. The minimal stylish design of the TFT system offers two information layout themes and a feature that allows the rider to personalise their start-up screen.

Increasing the level of rider-focused technology even further, the optimised Cornering ABS and Traction Control set-up maintains the optimum braking performance and level of traction, whatever the lean angle. Additionally, four riding modes (Road, Rain, Sport and Rider-configurable) adjust the throttle map and traction control settings to suit the riding conditions or rider preference.

Taking the riding experience to a new level, the Rocket 3 TFC comes with Triumph Shift Assist and Hill Hold Control as standard. The Triumph Shift Assist allows for clutch-less up and down quick shifts improving the shifting times compared to manual gear changes, whilst the Hill Hold feature enables maximum rider control, preventing the bike rolling backwards.

For enhanced visibility, low energy consumption and great durability, the Rocket TFC features all-LED lighting, including all new full-LED twin headlight with signature shaped Daytime-Running-Light (DRL, market-specific availability), compact LED indicators, tail light and number plate light.

Electronic cruise control is also fitted as standard, reducing the rider’s fatigue on long journeys. And for additional convenience and security, the Rocket 3 TFC features keyless ignition, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a USB charging socket.
In addition to its standard specification, the all new Rocket 3 Triumph Factory Custom’s advanced TFT instruments have been designed to deliver even more capability when enabled by an accessory Bluetooth connectivity module. When fitted, the full TFT connectivity system delivers the world’s first motorcycle integrated ‘GoPro’ control system, Triumph’s ‘turn-by-turn’ navigation system powered by Google as well as music and phone operation.

Category Defining Equipment Specification
Significant weight savings across the entire motorcycle make the 2019 Rocket 3 TFC 14% lighter than its predecessor with 44.5kg saving, for even more astounding handling and riding experience. This saving is delivered by an all-new unique aluminium frame which uses the engine as a stressed member for mass optimisation, all new aluminium single sided swinging arm, engine component refinements, carbon fibre bodywork and lightweight braking components.

In addition to the weight saving, the Rocket 3 TFC also has a category leading level of equipment, with top specification Brembo Stylema® calipers, high specification adjustable 47mm upside down Showa cartridge forks and fully adjustable Showa monoshock with piggy back reservoir.

The premium specification continues with a Brembo radial master cylinder and MCS span and ratio adjustable brake lever plus matching clutch lever.

Beautiful Engineering Features
The new 2019 Rocket 3 TFC is equipped with an incredible array of custom designed details including real leather interchangeable ‘twin or single’ seat set-up as standard, plus an infill pad supplied to work with the single seat set-up. Adding to this come a distinctive single sided swingarm and innovative sculpted 3-header exhaust run.

Triumphs Bobber Build Off Ready for your votes

Using a combination of genuine Triumph accessories and exceptional engineering skills, the 13 participating dealerships have been working hard in recent months to painstakingly design, personalise and pimp their beautiful Bonneville Bobbers to perfection.

Each of the dealerships prized rides were recently displayed at The Bike Shed Show in London,  alongside the first of Triumph’s Factory Custom Limited Editions, Thruxton TFC and Rocket 3 TFC and its custom Speed Twin, designed by the Bike Shed’s Anthony ‘Dutch’ van Someren.

Fans of the iconic modern classic are now voting on-line on Triumph’s website, voting closes at 10am on Thursday 29th August. Fans will be taken through to the Triumph UK Facebook album page where they can like their favourite Bobber’s, each like counts as a vote. The three finalists will then go into a head-to-head showdown judged by a celebrity panel at the end of July.

Rick Cawley, Regional Director Europe – Sales & Marketing, said: “Since its launch, the Bonneville Bobber has proven to be the most popular Triumph motorcycle for personalising. We launched the competition to not only showcase the customisation and engineering skills of the Triumph dealer network, but to also demonstrate that choosing genuine Triumph accessories is the ideal way to personalise your ride.”

The 13 finalists are: Jack Lilley Ashford; A1 York; Bevans of Cardiff; JS Gedge; Bulldog; Glasgow; Pure Triumph Wellingborough; Triumph World Chesterfield; Triumph East London, Phillip McCallen, Peterborough Triumphy, Laguna Ashford, Laguna Maidstone.
