Triumph Motorcycles launches its A2 Roadshow

Triumph Motorcycles has launched its anticipated A2 Roadshow. The Roadshow gives A2 licence holders a fantastic opportunity to test out Triumph’s full A2 line-up.

Qualifying bikes include a Street Triple, Bonneville T100 Black, Street Twin or Street Scrambler, Tiger 800 XCa, XCx and XRx.

Dates are as follows:

15 June – Squires Cafe, Leeds, Yorkshire (pictured)

19 June – Triumph FVE (Factory Visitor Experience), Hinckley

23 June – Triumph London (Carl Rosner, Croydon)

Rick Cawley, Regional Director Europe – Sales & Marketing, said: “Triumph has a fantastic range of capable A2 licence-ready motorbikes that don’t restrict riders’ fun and are easily converted back to full power when needed.

“We obviously want as many young riders to experience our bikes but we got feedback that many of them were struggling to organise test rides because of the complexities around insurance and prohibitively high costs for dealers. This is a group of often overlooked riders and this is our chance to let them sample the whole range in one place without any hassle.”

Finally, elegant peashooter style exhausts, follow a clean ‘straight line run’ achieved through an ingenious twin skin design that covers the pipe run through the cat box and out again. It delivers the true sound of a British twin, with a deep and rich exhaust note that truly matches the T120 character, tuned to a level you would want and expect.

Triumph Motorcycles confirm their return to the off road endurance racing world

Triumph Motorcycles are excited to confirm their return to the off-road endurance racing world with the new Scrambler 1200 XE at the Norra Mexican 1000 race, piloted by stunt rider and off-road racer Ernie Vigil.

Ernie Vigil is one of Triumph’s factory riders, and an experienced off-road racer, and was very likely the first person to have completed the Mexican 1000 on board a Triumph Tiger 800.

Now fully recovered and fit for action following an injury during training in October 2018, Ernie has spent the last 3 weeks in Southern California with the race-ready Scrambler 1200 completing his final preparations for this gruelling challenge.

Ernie’s Scrambler 1200 XE is in near-standard condition, and has only had additional specific desert racing seat, lights, grips and extreme profile sand tyres. Topping off the race spec features, there is also a unique off-road racing scheme with Triumph’s signature Black and White paint and graphics.

The Scrambler 1200 XE is an all-new benchmark-setting motorcycle that represents a first for dual-purpose capability and modern custom style. This beautiful new 1200 scrambler delivers a category redefining level of performance, specification and finish, fused with Triumph’s iconic Scrambler DNA and all the capability of a genuine adventure motorcycle.

The Norra Mexican 1000 is an incredible off-road racing challenge that takes in more than 1,000 miles across rocky desert, tackling quicksand, unpredictable 1,000bhp racing trucks and the elements. If you want to compete in extreme endurance races on a motorcycle, the Mexican 1000 is one of the biggest. Starting in Ensenada, Mexico, the original 1,000-mile route (which is where it gets its name) kicked off in 1967. The route changes and the distance varies but it is always around 1,000 miles, and promises one thing: an incredible challenge.

The Mexican 1000 is being run on the very same arduous course and conditions as the Baja 1000, which is the same terrain that made the Triumph Scrambler name famous in the 1960s, so the Scrambler 1200XE will be put to the ultimate scrambling test.  As this is such a highly challenging competition, Ernie, who was selected for both his experience and incredible commitment as well as his passion for this project, has been in full training for many weeks.

Ernie Vigil said: “After 9 months of training, the injury and over 6,000 off-road miles in the saddle I’m excited to be getting to the final stage of prep for one of the most challenging off-road races you can do. I literally can’t wait to get to that starting line and fire the Scrambler up! The bike has been performing amazingly well and I’m raring to go.”

Paul Stroud, Triumph’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “Everyone at Triumph is rooting for Ernie, his commitment to returning to race fitness following his injury has been amazing and we just can’t wait to see the Scrambler 1200 in action. Baja desert racing has played such a big part in the history of scrambling and it was the spark that kicked off of our whole iconic Scrambler line-up.

Triumph Supports 2019 Supersport Road Racing Season

2018’s fastest man on the roads Peter Hickman and Gary Johnson to ride Triumph Daytona 675R in 2019 road races

Triumph Motorcycles are extremely proud to announce their support for two top rank riders, Peter Hickman and Gary Johnson, in their 2019 Supersport road racing campaigns, with the provision of Daytona 675R motorcycles and engines. Peter Hickman, who is widely recognised as the fastest man on the roads during the 2018 season, will be riding a Triumph Daytona 675R for the Smith’s Racing team during the 2019 road racing season campaign, incorporating the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix.

In 2018, Peter and Smith’s Racing took two podium positions in the punishing TT Supersport races, and went on to win the Supersport race outright at the Ulster Grand Prix, all aboard the Triumph Daytona 675R motorcycle sponsored by Trooper premium British beer.

Gary Johnson, riding for the RAF Reserves Lee Hardy racing team, is a two time Isle of Man Supersport TT winner and seasoned road racing expert. Gary will also be campaigning in the four races within the racing schedule of the Isle of Man TT and North West 200 Supersport races on board his Triumph Daytona 675R.

Triumph is incredibly excited to support such accomplished and capable teams, plus the fastest rider on the island electing to choose a Triumph Motorcycle for the Supersport category. Everyone in the Triumph factory are excited, as the TT holds such a high place in the brand’s history in the heartland of UK racing. Along with Triumph triple engines powering Moto2™ and the forthcoming Scrambler 1200 racer debut at the Mexican 1000, 2019 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years for Triumph racing fans to witness and enjoy.

Paul Stroud, Triumph’s Chief Commercial Officer said: ““All Triumph staff and fans wish both Peter and Gary an extremely successful 2019 road racing season. We are delighted to be assisting with their Supersport racing campaigns and it’s fair to say that everyone here is looking forward to hearing the Daytona 675R triple powered machines reverberating around the 37-mile course in June and challenging for the win.”

For both riders, we wish them all the best for successful, safe and exciting 2019 road racing campaign.

Triumph adds new 1,000hp jet engines to Rocket TFC accessory range

Triumph Motorcycles has announced the addition of jet engines to the hotly anticipated Rocket TFC’s accessory range, capable of temporarily boosting the bike’s output by 1,000hp.

The two powerful jet engines, which are fitted in lieu of standard exhausts, are each capable of producing over 500hp during full afterburner and are engaged by the lucky owner through the switchgear-operated “Rocket” mode boosting the top speed of the bike significantly.

Always at the forefront of new technologies, Triumph Motorcycles has designed and engineered the jet engines in-house at the home of Triumph in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Built as a homage to the Rocket 3’s engine, already the world’s biggest production powerplant, the alternative power source has been incorporated for its power, efficiency and performance credentials.

Rocket TFC models fitted with the optional Rocket Mode Thrusters will also require the fitment of a bespoke fuel tank to separate the bike’s standard & jet fuel reserves.
The bespoke accessories are the result of continued innovation on the Rocket TFC concept ahead of further information being announced on May 1st, 2019.

S.P. Aceman, Chief Project Engineer for Triumph Motorcycles, said: “The Rocket TFC is an exceptional model and with the new Rocket Mode Thrusters will beat just about anything in a straight line, including up. It’s very exciting to bring powerful hybrid technology to the forefront of the motorcycle industry in the form of a bike as iconic as the Rocket. Product development continues at pace for this very special motorcycle with an optional re-entry fairing due to be tested shortly.”

Available as a special order on April 1st only, Triumph is taking customer orders through social media and across our local network of official Triumph dealerships. For further information and to see the jet engines in action, visit the Triumph UK Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/OfficialTriumphUK

All of this comes on top of a whole host of beautiful blacked out features, including premium black anodised multi-spoked wheels, black Öhlins RSU springs with black decals, black engine covers and a black tail tidy. To perfectly complement the black theme and real carbon fibre, the Thruxton TFC is available in one signature paint scheme – a distinctive Carbon Black, with brushed tank knee pad detailing, and hand painted gold lining.  And that premium gold detailing is applied across the whole motorcycle, from the gold lining on the fairing, to the gold detailing in the badging and instrument faces, unique key with gold detailing, and even a stylish custom gold chain.

The Thruxton TFC also retains all of the distinctive core Thruxton features, such as the brushed flip-top Monza fuel cap, twin throttle bodies with brushed intake finisher, Daytona R foot pegs and clear anodised aluminium swing arm.

More Power and torque from a Significant Engine Upgrade
The new Thruxton TFC achieves an incredible 10PS more power than the standard Thruxton R. This is delivered by significant engine upgrades including a whole host of lighter weight engine components, high compression pistons, and revised ports and cam profile. Along with the higher power, the Thruxton TFC also delivers an incredible high torque punch low down and across the entire rev range, peaking at 115Nm.

There is also a premium one-of-a-kind exhaust system just for the Thruxton TFC, with Vance & Hines titanium silencers and carbon fibre end caps, with a unique laser etched co-branded logo.

Category Leading Specification
Significant weight savings across the entire motorcycle make the Thruxton TFC five kilograms lighter than the Thruxton R for an even more dynamic and agile ride – delivered by engine component refinements, carbon fibre bodywork, aluminium engine cradle rails, rear mudguard removal, and a lighter weight battery.

In addition to the weight saving, the Thruxton TFC also has a category leading higher level of specification and equipment, with fully adjustable Öhlins upside down NIX30 front forks and fully adjustable Öhlins piggy back reservoir rear shocks with billet machined aluminium adjusters.

There are also high specification Brembo 4-piston M4.34 radial monobloc calipers and twin floating Brembo front discs, delivering excellent stopping power, and unique race specification Metzeler Racetec RR super sticky tyres. The premium specification continues with a Brembo radial master cylinder and MCS span and ratio adjustable brake lever plus matching clutch lever.

Highest Ever Level of Capability
Increasing the level of rider-focused technology are three upgraded riding modes unique to the  Thruxton TFC (Rain, Road and Sport), which now adjust throttle map, ABS and traction control settings to better suit the riding conditions or rider preference. This is enabled via the latest generation ride by wire, which delivers enhanced rideability, safety and control.

For enhanced visibility, lower energy consumption and greater durability, the Thruxton TFC features all-LED lighting, including 7 inch headlight with signature profile daytime running light (market specific availability), compact LED indicators, tail light and rear light.

ABS and traction control are also fitted for maximum safety and control, both implemented with minimal visual impact – compact, responsive and unobtrusive. Optimised to reduce lever effort for the rider, the torque-assist clutch makes the bike even more comfortable over long journeys and in stop-start riding, while the USB charging socket improves convenience. An engine immobiliser is also fitted as standard on the Thruxton TFC, with a transponder incorporated into the new high-value gold badged key.

THRUXTON TFC
THE NEW DEFINITIVE SPORTS CLASSIC
Rare. Beautiful. Special.

With even more style, power and performance the incredible new Thruxton TFC raises the bar to become the definitive sports classic and the new pinnacle in the legendary Thruxton line-up.

Rare, beautiful and truly special, this incredible first production TFC model celebrates the best of British engineering, detailing and finish with this ultra-rare never-to-be-repeated version that delivers more in every dimension.

Ultra-Limited Edition
With only 750 ever being sold worldwide, the Thruxton TFC will be Triumph’s most exclusive and desirable Modern Classic. Featuring premium TFC badging and instrument faces with gold detailing, and a beautiful individually-numbered plaque on the top yoke, each one will be completely unique and never to be repeated.

Every Thruxton TFC owner will also receive a special tailor-made TFC handover pack unique to their bike, featuring a numbered letter signed by Triumph’s CEO Nick Bloor, a personalised custom build book, and a beautiful Thruxton TFC bike cover.

Premium Custom Finish and Detailing
Visually striking, the new Thruxton TFC features unique beautifully engineered lightweight carbon fibre bodywork, including a stunning one-piece carbon cockpit fairing, front mudguard, seat cowl, heel guards and silencer end caps. Additional exquisite detailing includes billet machined aluminium top yoke with TFC branding, premium brushed nickel mirror centres, tinted screen, beautiful real leather seat with stitched detailing, and billet machined aluminium oil filler cap.

The new Thruxton TFC achieves an incredible 10PS more power than the standard
Thruxton R.

A legend re-born

Changing the face of motorcycling, the original 1938 Triumph Speed Twin, with the world’s first successful parallel twin engine packaged into a game changing chassis, was a revelation to ride. Its smooth dynamic handling and superb responsive feel established Triumph as the number one motorcycle marque globally for performance and handling, setting the template for all that followed, and earning a global reputation for being the first real ‘riders bike’.

For 2019, the all-new 1200cc Speed Twin re-introduces this illustrious Triumph name to our Modern Classics line-up, setting all over again a new standard in class-leading handling, and delivering a new benchmark for how a modern custom roadster should ride and feel.

The brand new Speed Twin carries all of the contemporary custom style of the Street Twin but adds even more beautiful premium details. It delivers all the power, torque and technology of the Thruxton R, in an even more accessible modern set-up. And, it offers all of the confidence inspiring ride and rider comfort of the Bonneville T120, but with even more engaged ergonomics.

The result, just like its iconic 20th century namesake, is a new performance icon that sets a whole new standard, with the chassis set-up, riding position, braking ability, suspension, and thrilling power delivery of a truly modern roadster.

Class leading handling

The all-new Speed Twin brings a new standard for class leading handling, with a precise, agile and dynamic modern roadster ride, and a confidence inspiring, intuitive feel.

The dedicated new frame developed from the Thruxton R delivers comfortable engaged roadster ergonomics, which combined with the high specification cartridge front forks and twin rear suspension units with adjustable spring pre-load, make for a truly unparalleled ride.

High specification twin Brembo 4-piston axial calipers on the front with twin discs, and a 2-piston floating caliper and single disc on the rear, provide excellent stopping power, complementing the motorcycle’s modern roadster character.

Adding to the confidence inspiring ride, the new Speed Twin also benefits from:

  • 17 inch, lightweight 7 spoke cast aluminium wheels
  • High specification Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres
  • ABS and switchable traction control as standard
  • Comfortable, upright, engaged riding position
  • Tapered handlebars and new upper yoke and risers
  • A comfortable new bench seat at a low height of 807mm, making the bike accessible for all riders
  • A significant 10 kilogram weight saving compared to the Thruxton, contributing to its class leading handling.

Thrilling performance

The modern roadster character comes to life through its 1200cc High Power 8 valve, parallel twin Bonneville engine, specifically updated for the new Speed Twin.

This revised high performance engine features a low inertia crank and high compression head, and is developed from the Thruxton R’s powerplant.

Engine updates include:

  • New magnesium cam cover
  • Revised clutch assembly
  • New mass optimised engine covers

Together these deliver a unique 2.5kg weight saving versus the Thruxton engine. With 97PS peak power @ 6,750rpm, the new Speed Twin achieves an impressive 76% increase over the 2016/17 Street Twin, and 49% more than the 2018 Street Twin.

Additionally the new Speed Twin engine also delivers a strong peak torque figure of 112 Nm @ 4,950rpm – an amazing 40% more than the 2018 Street Twin.

The Speed Twin’s all new distinctive twin upswept silencers, with satin black painted wrap and stainless steel end caps deliver the unmistakable sound of a British Twin, a unique exhaust note that matches its powerful and legendary character – rich, deep and full.

Behind the stylish exterior sits a liquid cooling system, carefully integrated to minimise its visual impact whilst achieving clean emissions and enhancing fuel efficiency. Combined with an extended first major service interval of 10,000 miles (16,000km), this contributes to a reduced overall cost of ownership.

Advanced rider technology

The new Speed Twin features a full suite of rider-focused technology to deliver advanced rider control and safety, plus enhanced rider confidence – sensitively integrated to maintain its iconic Bonneville style and character.

The Speed Twin’s technology features include:

Three riding modes Linked to the ride-by-wire system, the three selectable riding modes, Sport, Road and Rain, each with dedicated throttle maps and traction control settings, providing enhanced rider control and safety, and in ‘Sport’, a more immediate throttle response.
ABS The contemporary safety standard, with minimal visual impact, the ABS is responsive yet unobtrusive.
Switchable traction control Managing the Speed Twin’s high torque delivery when traction is compromised, the switchable system offers increased rider control.
