Record Breaking Crowd for London Motorcycle Show

For the third consecutive year, the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show broke its attendance record, with 39,647 people passing through its doors over the three day event.

Thousands of bike fans descended upon London’s ExCeL centre over the Valentine’s weekend to not only get up close and personal with the latest 2015 models from the world’s best manufacturers, but also rub shoulders with a host of famous two wheel stars.

Highlights from the show included ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ winner Carl Fogarty officially opening the event on Friday morning, while alongside him was Britain’s MotoGP hopeful Scott Redding who flew back especially from testing his factory Honda in Malaysia. Race fans were well catered for throughout the weekend, with a number of MCE British Superbike announcements and a world exclusive collection of title winning machines raced by Italian legend Valentino Rossi, which proved highly popular with visitors.

The new for 2015 live-action show ‘SLIDE’, in association with Michelin, also proved incredibly popular as fans packed around the arena to watch the thrills and spills of Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness and BSB stars James Whitham, Chris Walker and Taylor Mackenzie battling for victory.

Rebecca Donohue, Head of Marketing at Carole Nash Insurance, said, “As title sponsors of the show, we were more than impressed with the event this year. It’s a really positive sign that the market is picking up and that was backed up by the number of visitors in attendance – and we even got a glimpse of the King of the Jungle! We also had some really great feedback on our new Bikers Only car insurance offering, which was great to hear. As ever, we were on hand to handle queries and questions from our customers – which is one of the main reasons why we spend so much time and effort in attending these events. Well done to all at MCN for organising another fab show!”

Rob Aherne, Managing Director of Motorcycling at Bauer Media summed up, “We are delighted that this year’s event has delivered a third straight year of growth, but more than that we feel that we have put on our best London show yet. ‘‘As well as fantastic visitor numbers, there was a real buzz about the place that reflects how vibrant the UK market is at the moment. It’s a big, big change from where the industry was at 18 months ago – I think we are all set for another great year.”

The 2015 show also marked a special showcase of the most influential motorcycles from the past sixty years as part of MCN’s ongoing celebrations of their sixtieth anniversary. The next highlight on the calendar will be the launch of the MCN Festival of Motorcycling (May 16-17) which will give bikers the opportunity to see and hear some of motorcycling’s most iconic machines as well as test ride the full spectrum of 2015 bikes.

Ride headsUp Launches Motorcycle Heads-up Display Campaign on Kickstarter

Co-workers at drone start-up build inexpensive and helmet agnostic headsUp display for motorcycle riders that displays navigation and speed on the road ahead of the rider.

Ride headsUp, the first true heads-up display to attach on to any helmet, today announced the official launch of its Kickstarter campaign. Created by a group of Indiana State graduates who went on to become co-workers at a drone start-up, the display reflects on the windscreen to show navigation and speed based on the same principles as the HUDs (Heads-Up Display) in jet fighter planes. The group, led by founder Tyler Collins, is excited to carry their tech start-up experience and innovation-first mentality from their day jobs to their passion for motorcycles.

“After years of riding motorcycles, having to constantly check my speed while maneuvering a busy street or sharp turn while struggling to find my way without navigation, I started to look for a safer and easier solution,” said Tyler Collins, headsUp founder . “Currently, the only option riders have is to buy a helmet with HUD capabilities built in. The goal for this campaign is to provide a user-friendly and universal display option that riders can afford and use on their existing helmet.”

Riders traveling at 60mph can cover more than 150 feet while looking down to check their speed or directions. Ride headsUp is designed to give every rider a tool to monitor speed and navigation without hindering their situational awareness and overall safety. The display unit can be mounted on the majority of helmets on today’s market and are sturdy enough to withstand high winds while maintaining its ability to easily removed from the helmet. Bluetooth connectivity also allows for streaming of audio and navigation from Android or iPhone mobile devices to helmet display.

Kickstarter Campaign: http://kickstarter.rideheadsup.com

“We designed the interface to be simple, not to distract riders or complicate the setup, but to enhance the overall riding experience,” said Collins. “The only thing the rider can see is his speed projected as a hologram; in the same way a heads up device displays speed in a modern fighter jet.”

The campaign goal, set at $125,000, will take Ride headsUp from a working prototype to a production-ready device in six months. Visitwww.rideheadsup.com for more information. Ride headsUP.

Carlos Checa chooses the new Ducati Multistrada 1200

The new Multistrada 1200, presented last November at the World Ducati Premiere 2014, has won over not only the public of EICMA in Milan, but also a celebrated Ducatista: Carlos Checa. The Spaniard, who was World Champion in 2011 among the modified production bikes, riding a Ducati, expressed the desire to ride the new Italian multibike. The opportunity arose when production of the bike began, and Carlos took possession of the first model to come off the production line at the Borgo Panigale factory.

“I already had the first version of the Multistrada 1200 and I saw right away that this was my ideal bike. When I saw the new model at EICMA I literally fell in love with it,” said Carlos Checa during his visit to Borgo Panigale. “I realised immediately that the bike had been completely changed and had taken an important step forward in terms of technology, safety and performance. I asked if I could ride it and the moment has come at last. I’ve already ridden a few kilometres and that’s all I needed to notice that the new Testastretta DVT engine is a good step ahead in terms of functioning regularity and performance. The new electronic system, commanded by the inertial platform, has made it possible to introduce a lot of new elements such as ABS Cornering. I also really love the new instrumentation which provides multiple possibilities for connectivity, as well as the new handlebar controls which are more ergonomic and easier to use. For certain I’ll be riding a long way with my new Ducati Multistrada 1200”.

Carlos Checa and the new Multistrada 1200 were in Courmayeur last weekend, guests at the second appointment with the Winter Tour (the third stop will take place in Ischgl, Austria, 21-22 February, for info wintertour.ducati.com) and they’ll soon be taking part in other adventures to come.

The new Ducati Multistrada 1200 will be available in UK Ducati dealerships from the end of March.

As soon as it was launched back in 2010, the Multistrada 1200 revolutionised the motorcycling world by offering, for the very first time, nothing less than four bikes in one: from super sport to long-distance tourer, from everyday runabout to enduro. Now, Ducati’s technological expertise has produced a new generation of Multistradas, bikes featuring the latest Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine and a state-of-the-art technological package that sets a whole new standard in its product segment. The new Multistrada 1200 is the “multibike” par excellence, with cutting-edge technology making it far more than just the 4-bikes-in-1 offered by its Riding Modes.

In what is a first for the motorcycle industry, the DVT engine features a variable valve timing system with independent control of both the intake and exhaust camshafts. This optimises engine performance throughout the power range in all riding conditions, thus ensuring maximum power at high rpm, fluid delivery, punchy low-rpm torque and low fuel consumption in full compliance with the latest Euro 4 regulations.

The new Multistrada 1200 also sets a new electronics benchmark thanks to the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), developed by Bosch technicians, which dynamically measures roll and pitch angles as well as the acceleration on three axis; with this information, the Bosch IMU enhances both performance and safety. For example, the presence of the IMU enables the ABS to include a Cornering system capable of controlling braking even on bends where wheel lock could otherwise cause skidding. On the Multistrada 1200 S it also enables control the Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL) in its full LED headlamp. Moreover, the Bosch IMU has allowed the introduction of Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC): this detects and corrects any front wheel lift to ensure maximum acceleration in complete safety. Like Ducati Traction Control (DTC), DWC features rider-settable 8-level sensitivity. Lastly, the Bosch IMU inertial platform also interacts with the semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evolution (DSS) control system featured on the Multistrada 1200 S.

Motorcycle chain oiler manufacturer Scottoiler is gearing up to celebrate its 30th anniversary

Motorcycle chain oiler manufacturer Scottoiler is gearing up to celebrate its 30th anniversary 130 years ago Fraser Scott first presented his invention the Scottoiler, an automatic motorcycle chain oiler, to the public at the Motorcycle Live Show in Birmingham. Now, 30 years later, Scottoiler is an established brand in the motorcycle industry with global market penetration.

R&D Manager Stephen Hood says “The recession has hit the motorcycle market hard but we see signs of recovery. Our products help every motorcyclist to spend more time on the road and less time in the garage. A Scottoiler chain oiler system is still the best way to save hassle, time and money when it comes to motorcycle maintenance.”

In 1984 Fraser launched the system into a collapsing motorcycle market with limited success. But he did not give up on his idea and began selling the first units by mail order from his living room. Satisfied customers quickly spread the word about this ingenious chain maintenance invention, and, over time, dealers, wholesalers and manufacturers began stocking the product.

Scottoiler has since increased its product range and is exporting to over 40 countries worldwide. Europe, Australia and SE Asia are strong established markets and the company is focusing its attention on the North American market in 2015.

“2015 is a big year for us. We currently have exciting projects going on behind the scenes at Scottoiler which we hope will appeal to our loyal customers and hopefully attract many new ones.” said Fiona Scott Thomson, Managing Director of Scottoiler Ltd.

New OptiMate Lithium 0.8 Protects and Saves

OptiMate – developers of the world’s first Lithium-Ion battery optimiser – have introduced a cost-effective lithium-specific battery maintainer to their range.

Compact and lightweight, yet delivering high voltages, lithium batteries are an increasingly popular choice for motorcyclists on road & track, but are considerably more expensive* than lead acid units. They are particularly vulnerable to damage if left attached to a machine and unattended – Li-Ion batteries often have a lower Ah capacity, so can flatten quickly if left connected for long periods.

Maintaining lithium batteries is crucial, because once discharged they can be difficult to recover. However, regular 12-volt chargers for lead acid batteries should not be used, due to different charging curves and thresholds. Lithium (LiFePO4) batteries contain 4 x 3.2V cells, providing a total nominal voltage of 12.8V, compared to a 12V lead-acid battery, which has 6x 2V cells.

Totally automatic and with an intuitive LED display to keep the user informed throughout, the Lithium 0.8A assesses battery condition and selects the charge programme to suit: Bulk Charge for rapid recovery and Save mode to safely recover over-discharged batteries. The Lithium 0.8A is also designed to reset the internal BMS (Battery Management System) on batteries with a low voltage cut-out so that charging can begin.

Battery condition is continually monitored, to prevent unnecessary charging, and an alternating ‘charge and rest’ maintenance programme protects the battery against over-discharge.

Recommended by leading lithium battery manufacturers and safe to use with all LiFePO4/LFPs, the Lithium 0.8A comes with crocodile clips and a weatherproof lead that can be attached to the battery. Available from all authorised OptiMate suppliers for £54.99 including VAT. For more information visit www.optimate1.com.

* A Lead-Acid battery for a Honda CBR600F costs approx. £30-£50; the lithium equivalent is > £100

VMAX Yard Built “INFRARED”

JvB-moto Celebrates 30 Years of VMAX with Yard Built ‘INFRARED’

2015 is a very special year for the legendary Yamaha VMAX as it celebrates its 30-year anniversary. The game-changing bruiser dropped jaws across the motoring world on its original launch in 1985 with its awe-inspiring power.

To mark the special occasion Yamaha has formed a new collaboration in the Yard Built world with cult German builder JvB-moto to create a fitting tribute to the iconic VMAX.

The Cologne based custom builder is a long-time fan of the VMAX, and credits the machine as one of the sparks that ignited his passion in motorcycles at the age of 15 in 1985. Despite not being available in Germany at the time due to its outrageous power it has inspired JvB-moto’s Jens vom Brauck to this day, where he has finally had the opportunity to pour that passion into this stunning creation.

JvB-moto’s vision for the VMAX Yard Built special was to transfer the stock VMAX into a radical dragster meets café racer concept, exaggerating the brutal power for all to see. A second key element in the design is a tribute to the 30-year history of the machine, encapsulating elements from the first roll out of the bike in 1985.

Starting at the front end, a custom-made aluminium mudguard sits below a JvB-moto signature style custom carbon fibre headlight unit integrated into the front forks and Motogadget indicators above custom carbon wheel covers.

Modified aftermarket clip-on bars add the café racer element and the rider looks down on an authentic American dragster rev counter by Autometer.

A beautiful custom carbon tank cover sits over a heavily modified airbox and electrics and is complemented by special air intake scoops crafted from stock aluminium units taken from the original 80’s VMAX.

The stunning craftsmanship continues with a handmade aluminium subframe crafted from bits of the stock unit and a custom fuel tank placed under the seat, also made from aluminium and holding the same fuel as the standard tank for an unspoiled riding experience.

The rear is beautifully finished with another JvB-moto signature piece, a custom carbon tail unit, handmade by Jens. A bike that looks this good needs the right sound and this machine doesn’t disappoint. The exhaust system is modified with a custom 4-1 collector and finished with a growling Termignoni silencer.

Last but by no means least is a beautiful paint job. Again reflecting the history of the bike, and of Yamaha, JvB-moto chose a retro colour scheme based on the livery of Yamaha’s 1985 GP team for real authenticity.

Every custom aluminium and carbon part on this Yard Built special was handmade by JvB-moto, perfectly blending the VMAX story with the German builder’s signature style.

“The Yamaha VMAX has been an icon without rival since it burst onto the streets in 1985 as the ultimate drag racer inspired street bike,” commented Shun Miyazawa, Product Manager, Yamaha Motor Europe. “It was immediately a favourite with fans across the world, not only in its standard form, but also as a base for personalization and customization. To respect the culture that has grown around this icon we’ve chosen to celebrate 30 years of the VMAX by working with three highly respected custom builders to create three VMAX specials that will inspire not just Yamaha, but also owners of the VMAX and those who maybe want to own one.

We’re starting this exciting anniversary build year with cult German builder JvB-moto. We are huge fans of his work, and feel his minimalistic, industrial

style fits well with the VMAX. The results are clear; the Yard Built ‘INFRARED’ pays homage to the origins of the VMAX but also hints at the performance of tomorrow.”

Peugeot Kisbee is Europe’s number one scooter

Peugeot are celebrating a podium top spot for their Kisbee scooter in the race for European motorcycle and scooter sales.

Figures released by The Motorcycle Industry in Europe [ACEM] show that, for the second year running, Peugeot’s Kisbee 50 was Europe’s most popular scooter, selling 43% more than its nearest rival in the charts, the Honda SH150AD*.

It was also the third best selling Powered Two Wheeler in Europe; BMW’s R1200GS and the Yamaha MT-07 claiming the two top spots.

Competitively priced for a premium specification scooter from a major European brand, the Kisbee sells for just £1199** and is covered by a 24-month warranty.

Its 50cc 4-stroke engine features an updated piston design, lighter con-rod and 3 chamber exhaust, producing extra torque while remaining compact, lightweight and reliable. It delivers over 100 mpg yet emits around 30% less Co2 than an equivalent size 2-stroke scooter.

Chunky 12″ wheels with sports profile tyres, telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers give it a sure-footed feel on the road and, weighing just 90kg, it’s easy to squeeze into the tightest parking spaces. Capacity for two people and a full face helmet under the seat add to the day-to-day practicality.

Call 01202 823344 or visit www.peugeotscooters.co.uk for full specifications.

Notes: *12,561 units registered in 2014, compared to 8754 units of the Honda SH150AD.

**Price includes manufacturer’s delivery, pre-delivery inspection, petrol, number plate and VAT at 20%. Government first registration fee and vehicle excise duty are not included and will be charged at the prevailing rate. Prices and specifications correct at time of print.

Pipe Werx Triumph Tiger 1050 Low-Level Exhaust

Following many requests from owners, Pipe Werx has created a low-level option of its popular ‘Carbon Edge’ street legal exhaust for the Triumph Tiger 1050 (year 2013 onwards) to compliment its existing high-level offering.

Starting at £220 for a single silencer, Carbon Edge is available in Stainless Steel, Powder Black, Carbon, Titanium or Colour Titanium. Though road legal, even the heaviest sleeve finish (Powder Black) of Carbon Edge will be lighter than that of the intended bike’s original silencer and offer further performance gains without the need for altering fuelling. The silencer also features an easily removable baffle for those who want to make a little more noise.

The new low option works better for when carrying luggage – especially throw-over panniers – and for keeping heat further away from pillion passengers.

Like any other Pipe Werx product, the exhaust was designed completely in house and boasts a lifetime guarantee and is constructed using 304 grade stainless steel internals. Carbon Edge comes complete with all necessary mounting and hanging brackets and requires no specialist tools or experience to fit. Changes to the intended bike’s fuelling are not required when using the standard header/down pipes.

Quick-release Brake Coupling From Venhill

British braking specialists Venhill have developed a quick-release dry coupling for their Powerhose Plus braided brake lines.

Fitting a quick-release coupling allows riders to separate and reconnect a brake line without brake fluid leaking out or air getting in to the system. QR couplings are particularly useful for endurance racing, when callipers and/or master cylinders need to be replaced quickly and easily, without the need to bleed the system.

The male 1/8th BSP thread on the coupling fits directly onto the swivel nuts on Venhill’s Powerhose Plus hydraulic brake and clutch lines. It holds the hydraulic hose together securely with bayonet locking, yet can be separated in seconds by hand, without any tools. Venhill Powerhose Plus lines are available in a wide choice of modular lengths, so replacing original lines with a QR set-up is straightforward.

Designed for use with popular grades of brake fluid –  DOT 4 , DOT 5.1 and DOT5 – the QR coupling is made from  lightweight aluminium and sells for £71.92 (retail including VAT). Call Venhill on 01306 885111, or visit www.venhill.co.uk for details.

Note: the Venhill QR Coupling is designed for race and track use and is not recommended for general road use.

London calling for Ducati at the MCN London Motorcycle Show

Londoners will get their first chance to see the new additions to the Ducati range at this month’s MCN Motorcycle show at Excel in the capital’s Docklands.

New for 2015 and fresh in the minds of many who visit the show will be the 1299 Panigale which has claimed some impressive reviews, with journalists extolling the virtues of the new Panigale; “one of the most exciting motorcycles I have even been fortunate enough to swing a leg over”, “It’s one of the most quick-steering motorcycles I’ve ever ridden,” “electronics that genuinely make you faster and the most user-friendly semi-active suspension system we’ve seen so far”.

This 205hp, 165kg Panigale is an impressive new member of the Ducati Superbike lineage featuring some of the latest electronics. The menu of features are extensive: New electronics kit with Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), riding modes (Race, Sport, Wet), Ducati Safety Pack (Cornering ABS, DTC) Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Braking Control, Ducati Quick Shifter up/down, auxiliary buttons to adjust DTC, DWC, EBC*.  There is also an automatic calibration system of the tyre size and final drive ratio, semi active Öhlins Smart EC suspension and steering damper*, lightweight forged aluminium wheels*, full LED headlight*, DDA+ GPS compatible and TFT instrumentation with indicator of lean angle.

Also on the radar of many visitors will be the new Ducati Scrambler brand, already an incredible sales success despite only being in dealerships a few weeks. All four versions will be on display on a separate dedicated stand – Urban Enduro, Classic, Icon and Full Throttle.

The new Multistrada is another new addition to the 2015 range sharing many of the electronic features of the 1299 Panigale such as DTC, DWC, EBC, IMU and riding modes. It also boasts Sky Hook Suspension*, Ducati Cornering lights*, Bosch-Brembo Cornering braking system and the Ducati Multimedia System* that connects the bike to a smartphone for user-friendly control of basic functions such as receiving incoming calls, notification of text messages, or playing music via the handlebar controls and on-dash info.

Ducati’s technological expertise has also produced this new generation of Multistradas with the latest Ducati Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine and a state-of-the-art technological package that sets a whole new standard in the segment.

The latest Monster range, only recently released last year, sees some new additions with the new stripe versions of the Monster 821 and Monster 1200 S. The stripe is characterised by a red colour scheme with a white double side-stripe on mudguard, tank and passenger seat cover. Both bikes have a red-painted nose fairing, while the Monster 821 Stripe is also equipped with adjustable forks and the Monster 1200 S Stripe with a Ducati Performance carbon undertail plate holder and belt covers.

For race fans there will be a race section featuring the Ducati British Superbike of the Lloyd British Moto Rapido team ridden by Jakub Smrz and an 899 Panigale which has been specially adapted by the True Heroes race team for double amputee Murray Hambro. Murray will form a three man team that will contest the Ducati TriOptions Cup for eight support rounds of the British Superbike Championship.

The Ducati stand will also feature the Ducati clothing from the latest 2015 collection.

Akrapovič Gives the Latest Yamaha R1 a Grand Prix Feel

Akrapovič has launched its latest exhaust for the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 It’s inspired by the race-winning machines of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, and it will give the latest generation of R1 the look and sound of a Grand Prix bike.

Akrapovič’s Slip-On Line represents the first step in the exhaust system tuning process, and the all-new design for the Yamaha R1 features the new-shape muffler design. Made entirely of lightweight titanium, the Slip-On Line gives the bike the Grand Prix look, just like the 2014 Yamaha YZR-M1 machines ridden by Rossi and Lorenzo. The Slip-On Line totally transforms the bike by adding more power and increased torque through the entire rev range, giving the R1 that unique Akrapovič sound to further enhance that Grand Prix image.

This beautifully crafted, durable titanium muffler is manufactured from race-proven materials and comes with a carbon fibre heat shield to boost the racing look. Lighter than stock, the Slip-On Line exhaust perfectly fits within the lines of the machine and gives added value to the bike. With a comprehensive and easy-to-follow mounting manual included with the muffler, this plug-and-play exhaust is easy to install and needs no remapping or other parts. It is ECE and EC approved and is also CARB and EPA noise compliant.

The optional lightweight titanium link pipe is designed exclusively to be used with the titanium Slip-On Line muffler, and it transforms the exhaust and takes the Yamaha R1 to a higher performance level. Yielding more power and increased torque, the link pipe makes full use of the machine’s potential. This beautifully finished optional extra includes the link pipe and resonator in titanium and is perfectly matched to fit on the stock headers. The addition of the optional link pipe turns the Slip-On Line exhaust into a full system and will totally change the performance of the Yamaha R1.

BMC Filters Flow Through R&G

Crash Protection leader exclusive UK Importer for BMC Air Filters

·       R&G exclusive distributor for BMC Air Filters for bikes
·       Performance upgrade filter for road and race machines
·       Established in Italy and made there since 1973
·       Offers in Street, Race and Carbon Racing filtration
·       Huge range of fitments
·       Serviceable – lasts as long as the machine

R&G has become the exclusive UK importer of BMC Air Filters for bikes.

The Italian brand, established in 1973, has a huge range of motorcycle performance air filter products, in both road and race variants, both giving improvements on filter efficiency against standard items as well as increasing machine performance, even when compared against other notable brands, and is used by the Factory Yamaha MotoGP team, among many others.

BMC filters, ranging from £40 – £350, are constructed with a multi-layered cotton gauze, soaked in low-viscosity oil and covered with an epoxy-coated alloy mesh to ensure protection from petrol fumes and oxidisation due to air humidity. The filter increases machine performance by allowing more air through, but with increased and finer filtration compared to a standard paper item – 7 microns compared to 10 microns. The filter frames are made from a single mould without welded joints, thus avoiding easy breakage over time.

Fitting a BMC filter is also more cost-effective over time for riders, as they do not have to be replaced at service intervals, like standard paper items. The filter can be regenerated with a simple washing and re-oiling procedure, which also reduces waste for the environment.

Three products are offered: Street, Race and Carbon Racing Filters (CRF). The Street and Race items are similar in that they are a direct replacement in terms of fit for a standard filter and increase performance and airflow. Identified by an orange line inside the filtering body, the Race item takes airflow to a higher level for performance track machines where outright filtration isn’t absolute. Starting at £259, the stunning CRF goes a further step with a super-lightweight carbon fibre filter support structure.

R&G, the official crash protection supplier to the 2015 MCE British Superbike Championship, also distributes the SPARK range of performance exhausts, so the addition to this performance product is a perfect fit.

BMC products will be available through selected R&G stockists in-store across the UK.

See and Feel the KTM 2015 Street Range at London Excel in February

KTM will be showcasing the full 2015 Street range at the MCN London Motorcycle Show at ExCeL, Docklands, on February 13-15, along with having exciting demonstrations of its electric Freeride machines.

The Austrian manufacturer has released 12 new street bikes to its range since 2011, beginning with the 125 Duke, and now boasts a 14-strong road line-up with an eclectic mix of machines in naked, supersport or travel enduro styles, from 125cc to 1301cc. Brand new for 2015 from Europe’s biggest motorcycle manufacturer is the headline-grabbing 1290 Super Adventure and 1050 Adventure.

The 1290 Super Adventure redefines the standard for luxury touring on a motorcycle. Boasting features including 160hp, 140Nm, semi-active suspension, cornering lights, cruise control, optional hill hold control, this bike embodies superlative technology in every respect as far as its power, comfort and equipment goes – but of course with an explicitly dynamic touch.

The KTM 1050 Adventure is for riders who demand a travel enduro that delivers pure riding enjoyment in comfort over long distances with a chassis that can exploit the twisty routes or simply out manoeuvre traffic when escaping. Employing neither excessive equipment or performance; the 1050’s V-twin engine still matches the 1190 Adventure for power and torque up to its 95hp and can be electronically mapped to be A2 licence compliant.

Launched in Autumn 2014, the supersport RC range is also making a big impression on the UK’s roads. With Grand Prix-inspired styling, high-level specification components and innovative features, the RC 125 is suitable for riders aged 17 and above and is currently available with a free PowerParts promotion, encompassing an Akrapovič exhaust (rrp £464.32) and Neon graphics kit (rrp £93.95).

With 44hp, the RC 390 is a perfect combination of power and performance in a lightweight chassis. Ideal for experienced riders or those with an A2 licence. This exciting bike is also the basis for the Santander Consumer Finance KTM British Junior Cup, held within the British Superbike Championship, for riders aged 13-18.

The Duke range is more versatile than ever, packing naked attitude and tarmac aggression behind the wide bars and punchy single-cylinder engines of the 125, 390, 690 and the track-inspired 690 R variants. The 1290 Super Duke R takes the Duke spirit to insane levels of performance and specification; boasting 180hp, 144 Nm of torque and sophisticated electronic aids to keep the rear tyre gripping and the front wheel on the floor – if you want to.

KTM has also steamrolled into electric propulsion in 2015 with its Freeride E range, including the off-road E-XC and E-SX that will be joined by the road-going and A1 licence-suitable E-SM supermoto. Racers Jamie Whitham and Taylor Mackenzie will be utilising the performance of the E-XC as part of the Dockland-based show’s live action entertainment.

The show opens on February 13 with advance tickets starting from £15. For more information visit www.mcnmotorcycleshow.com
