Ironwood Motorcycles & Royal Enfield present – The Starship Meteor – Custom Motorcycle

Easy Cruiser inspired custom build based on the award-winning Royal Enfield Meteor 350 – from Ironwood Motorcycles’ Creative Director & Founder, Arjan van den Boom

Ironwood Motorcycles, based out of their Amsterdam custom workshop, have launched “The Starship Meteor” – a stripped back, beefed-up interpretation of an affordable urban cruiser.

Since its launch at the end of 2020, the Meteor 350 has swiftly built somewhat of a cult following – winning multiple awards and plaudits right around the world. Praised for its build quality, retro styling and design refinement – as well as the remarkable price point for a motorcycle that offers so much more than the sum of its parts – it provides a pretty remarkable blank canvas to then stamp your own personality on.

The challenge was therefore laid down by the in-house Custom Team at Royal Enfield’s UKTC to Ironwood Motorcycles and their Creative Director & Founder, Arjan van den Boom – to interpret their own ideal Easy Cruiser, which would allow them to discover the place they called home in a whole new light, and turn as many heads in the process.

Says Arjan van den Boom,  of Ironwood Motorcycles  “The meteor ticks a lot of boxes as stock but it was our task to spice it up a bit more. As a base package the Meteor is pretty hard to beat for the budget-friendly rider.  Ultimately, we wanted to retain this important element of accessibility and entry into the world of motorcycling and motorcycle customisation that the Meteor offers – but of course add our unique Ironwood creative touch to the build.

We received a Meteor Fireball Yellow from the team at Royal Enfield and immediately rode it as much as we could around the streets of Amsterdam to get accustomed to the feel and ergonomics of the motorcycle before taking it apart. As the riding position is already super comfortable and balance is refined, we want to retain as much of the original Meteor DNA as possible. Smaller-displacement motorcycles too often get classified as starter bikes, which is a shame. Our goal was to give the Meteor a helping of our unique Ironwood sauce and an overall beefier appeal through some performance parts upgrades, but to ensure the core Meteor identity shone through.

We had a very clear visual identity that we wanted to develop, inspired largely by my love for all things Star Wars! We decided on blacking out lots of the component parts in order for the amazing “Meteor Rain” paint job by  Royal Kustom Works to really stand out on the tank. The Black fork gaiters, black supercross handlebar, custom fenders, the fat chunky rubbers from Continental and the piggyback shock absorbers from YSS all compliment this gnarly look

The CNC seat post, our signature floating bobber seat, further adds to the overall custom look of the motorcycle and the diamond pattern on the seat upholstery has all been finished by hand by Miller Kustom Upholstery. The Biltwell grips, Motogadget indicators on the front and the Kellermann 1000DF rear lights,  together with the custom piping breathing through an Akrapovic muffler results in a stunning little Urban Cruiser that packs a punch well above its weight. Every time when you fire up this air-cooled one cylinder engine  a throaty growl emerges from the race exhaust and makes you just want to hit the roads. Mission accomplished!”

Says Adrian Sellers, head of Royal Enfield’s Custom Program; “The creative minds at Ironwood have absolutely nailed the brief we sent through to them and we’re delighted with the end results. Importantly, the core identity of the Meteor 350 – a motorcycle that we know provides such a fantastic base platform for creative expression – has been retained and embraced. This build reinforces how important accessibility is to us as a brand, and how much can be achieved with a little imagination. Full credit to Arjan and the wider Ironwood team – this sits as the first full custom build we’ve done with the Meteor, and marks an important and exciting milestone for this 350 engine platform.”

The Ironwood Custom Meteor 350 will be on show at EICMA 2021 in Milan at the end of November.

Following the success of the Street Twin Gold Line Edition launched earlier in 2021, which sold out within the season, the new range of eight Bonneville Gold Line Editions takes the latest generation models and adds a unique and exquisite hand-painted ‘gold line’ colour scheme to each. Perfectly illustrating the quality and attention to detail that Triumph is renowned for, and only available for one year, these new Gold Line Editions are premium, desirable and exclusive.

The Art of Gold Lining
The industry-leading hand-painted gold lining expertise of Triumph’s paint shop is a skill that takes incredible patience, years of experience and the steadiest of hands.

Many of the new Gold Line Edition designs start with a two-colour base scheme, where the joining point between the two colours is flattened down. The gold line is then carefully hand-applied, usually in one continuous stroke by the artist, using a very specialised soft-bristled sword-liner brush. Once the pin stripe is in place, it’s sealed against the elements with a final clear coat of lacquer.

The paints used for the gold lining are specially formulated by mixing a powered colour with a cellulose lacquer for exactly the right consistency, as normal automotive paint is too thin for brush work.

Just like every hand-lined Triumph, the artist adds the finishing detail to each Gold Line Edition by signing their work with their initials, providing a personal touch that makes every hand-painted Triumph special.

Bonneville T100 Gold Line Edition
The Bonneville T100 is the perfect entry-point to Triumph’s acclaimed Modern Classics range, with confidence-inspiring handling, a punchy 900cc twin engine, and a high level of specification including cartridge forks, Brembo front brake with ABS, torque assist clutch and switchable traction control, and of course all of the Bonneville’s signature style.

The Bonneville T100 Gold Line Edition features all of the latest generation updates including the additional 10PS peak power, for a total of 65PS at 7,400rpm and punchy peak torque of 80Nm at 3,750rpm. The low inertia engine is responsive and fully Euro 5 compliant.

The Bonneville T100 Gold Line Edition features a beautiful Silver Ice fuel tank, front and rear mudguards, and side panels, combined with a classic Competition Green fuel tank infill, edged with hand-painted gold lining and subtle ‘gold line’ logo. The Competition Green is also present on the side panel stripe graphics with unique new white and gold Bonneville T100 logos and hand-painted gold lining.

Completing the look, the accessory fly screen is now available in a matching Silver Ice.

Street Scrambler Gold Line Edition
Triumph’s stylish and accessible urban Street Scrambler is powered by the latest generation Euro 5 compliant High Torque 900cc twin engine, with a unique Scrambler tune. It delivers strong power and torque exactly where you need it, with 65PS peak power at 7,250rpm and 80Nm peak torque at 3,250rpm. It’s comfortable, fun and really intuitive to ride, with high-specification cartridge forks and preload-adjustable twin rear shocks, wire spoked wheels with Metzeler Tourance tyres, and a Brembo front brake with switchable ABS

The Gold Line Edition adds to the Street Scrambler’s premium custom style and detailing, with a special Matt Pacific Blue scheme that perfectly suits the bike’s urban attitude and rugged style. The rich blue of the tank beautifully contrasts with the Graphite tank stripe and brushed foil knee pad graphics, both of which have accompanying hand-painted gold lining. The Triumph tank logo echoes that same gold.

The mudguards are finished in a premium Matt Jet Black, as is the side panel, which features a new gold Street Scrambler logo.

An accessory fit matching Matt Pacific Blue flyscreen and high-level mudguard will further add to the authentic Scrambler style.

Bonneville Speedmaster Gold Line Edition
Already a custom classic icon, the new Bonneville Speedmaster Gold Line Edition adds another level of sophistication and style. The beautiful Silver Ice fuel tank with Sapphire Black twin stripe design and brushed foil knee pad graphics is enriched by the hand-painted gold lining that edges every design element and is signed off with the elegant ‘gold line’ logo.

The Sapphire Black is carried across the side panels, which feature a unique new gold and silver Bonneville Speedmaster logo and more hand-painted gold lining. The headlamp bowl and mudguards are finished in Sapphire Black too, with the option of a matching accessory fit short front mudguard.

As with the rest of the Gold Line Editions, the Speedmaster Gold Line Edition is the very latest specification and delivers all of the comfortable, controlled and refined ride that customers expect from the Speedmaster thanks to its 47mm Showa cartridge forks, pre-load adjustable hidden monoshock RSU and twin Brembo front calipers. The low 705mm seat height, swept back beach bars and forward foot controls deliver a laid back, comfortable cruiser style.

The new Speedmaster Gold Line Edition is powered by the latest Euro 5 compliant version of the 1200cc High Torque Bonneville twin engine, delivering 78PS peak power at 6,100rpm and 106Nm peak torque at 4,000rpm.

Bonneville Bobber Gold Line Edition
The new Bonneville Bobber Gold Line Edition’s main design theme is Carnival Red, which is carried across the fuel tank and mudguards. The tank is enriched by a twin stripe design, with brushed foil knee pad graphics. These elements are edged with hand-painted gold lines, complementing the gold Triumph tank badges and the ‘gold line’ signature logo.

The side panels are finished in Sapphire Black, with a unique new gold and silver Bonneville Bobber logo and additional hand-painted gold lining.

The new Bonneville Bobber Gold Line Edition offers all of the latest generation’s updates which, together with the custom-inspired looks, delivers an excellent level of standard equipment, including twin Brembo front brakes with ABS, high-specification Showa suspension and a fat front wheel. The new Bobber Gold Line Edition is equipped with the responsive Euro 5 compliant High Torque 1200cc twin engine with dedicated Bobber tune, which delivers 78PS peak power at 6,100rpm and 106Nm peak torque at 4,000rpm.

An accessory fit matching Carnival Red short front mudguard is also available.

Bonneville T120 and T120 Black Gold Line Editions
Being the very latest specification Bonnevilles, the T120 and T120 Black Gold Line Editions feature all of the Bonneville’s torque-rich 1200cc twin performance, with 80PS peak power at 6,550rpm and 105Nm peak torque at 3,500rpm. Their sophisticated chassis set-up with 41mm cartridge forks, preload-adjustable twin RSUs and twin Brembo front calipers with ABS delivers a dynamic, agile and neutral ride.

The Bonneville T120 Gold Line Edition comes in a wonderful Competition Green and Silver Ice colour scheme. The classic Competition Green infill on the tank is edged with a hand-painted gold line and the subtle ‘gold line’ logo, while the side panels carry a stripe graphic, with a unique white and gold Bonneville T120 logo and hand-painted gold lining.

The mudguards are finished in Silver Ice and there’s an accessory fit matching Silver Ice flyscreen available too.

The Bonneville T120 Black Gold Line Edition, instead, has a darker edge thanks to the sophisticated Matt Sapphire Black paint scheme running across the tank, front and rear mudguards, headlamp bowl and side panels.

The tank infill is Matt Silver Ice, hand-edged with gold line detailing, as are the side panel stripe graphics, which feature a unique new black and gold logo design. The scheme perfectly complements the blacked-out engine, black exhaust system and the wealth of blacked-out details that give the Bonneville T120 Black its characteristic mean and moody attitude.

Both versions of the T120 feature all of the latest generation updates, such as the lightweight aluminium wheels, cruise control and enhanced riding modes, making the T120 and T120 Black Gold Line Editions even more premium and desirable.

Scrambler 1200 XC and XE Gold Line Editions
The Scrambler 1200 also gets its own Gold Line Editions – the versatile XC with its plush suspension and unrivalled, all-road, all-day performance and comfort, and the stunning XE – the world’s first genuine dual purpose modern classic adventurer, with a category-leading level of performance and specification.

Both models are powered by the latest generation Euro 5 High Power 1200cc Bonneville twin engine and both benefit from state-of-the-art rider-focused technology and an exceptional level finish and detailing.

The Scrambler 1200 XC Gold Line Edition comes in a stylish combination of Carnival Red and Storm Grey, with a hand-painted gold line running alongside an Aluminium Silver tank stripe and the subtle signature ‘gold line’ logo. The brushed foil knee pad graphics are also edged with a hand-painted gold line.  The side panel and headlamp bowl are both finished in the classic Jet Black.

The scheme for the Scrambler 1200 XE Gold Line Edition consists of a striking Baja Orange and Silver Ice tank, with a Pure White stripe and hand painted gold line.  As with the XC model, the brushed foil knee pad graphics are gold-lined, and the side panel and headlamp bowl are Jet Black.

Muc-Off Launches Anti-Odour Spray

Muc-Off, the global leaders in bicycle and motorcycle care and performance, announce the launch of an all-new Anti Odour Spray designed to keep riders’ kit smelling fresh.

With global pressure mounting on recycling garments (re-wear and re-use) comes a desire for inventive rider care products that maintain and increase the longevity of kit. This new rider care product attacks stubborn odours which means that kit can remain fresher for longer.

“Nobody likes stinking kit! That’s why we are stoked to be able to find a new way to freshen up your riding equipment. Our new Anti-Odour Spray works on all types of kit. People often forget that rider care is just as important as bike care!” – Alex Trimnell, CEO at Muc-Off.

The new innovative spray contains SILVERPLUS® silver ion technology, which works by releasing the silver element in the formula onto the fabric. The silver releases positive ions to attach to the negative ions of bacteria, which prevents the dreaded odour-causing bacteria from developing. It’s ideal for removing odour from helmet liners, body armour, shoe lining, gloves, pads, boots, shoes, synthetic fibre or any other textiles that come into contact with your skin and start to smell over time.

Muc-Off Anti Odour Spray leaves a long-lasting hygienic finish that freshens your equipment. It’s perfect for using while away on riding trips, to help protect your kit when it’s repeatedly used and can’t be washed be easily washed. It’s suitable to use on leather, suede, cotton, polycotton, softshell, technical fabrics and synthetics – while providing freshness for up to ten washes before another spray treatment is needed.

Muc-Off Anti Odour Spray comes in a 250ml bottle and retails at £11.99/€17.99. It’s available now from muc-off.com and selected retailers.

MV Agusta Superveloce Ago

“I dreamt of a summer day my father telling me don’t go too fast, Mino. I liked the wind rushing towards me, the road fast-scrolling under the wheels. I learned that the ocean is just a lake, only bigger. And what it means to be in front, doing things others can’t do. Not to have that number 1 on the fairing, but to do a job I call love. Even if it can turn on you, and if you harm it, it will take its revenge. For with a bike you must give and take.”
”Perhaps I’m still that child, Perhaps I never stopped dreaming.”

He is the rider who holds the unrivalled record of having won 15 world-championships and has been victorious in 311 Grand Prix races.

Introducing Giacomo Agostini, an authentic icon of the era that regularly tempted fate at every corner, he has become a legend while continuously rocketing to the chequered flag.

The bike is the the Superveloce Ago, the most exclusive version among the limited-edition models.

MV Agusta pays a tribute to the legend with a unique limited-edition series of the original Superveloce, now an even more exclusive top-of-the-range Superveloce Ago.

Following the iconic MV Agusta F4 Ago and F3 Ago debut, the paths of the glorious Italian motorcycle manufacturer and those of the Bergamo-based world champion meet once again.

The reason? To give life to the most technologically advanced and exclusive Superveloce ever.

Once again, a unique bike that will remain forever in the hearts of all the passionate motorcycle enthusiasts.

A UNIQUE PALMARES: 15 WORLD TITLES, 311 RACES WON
To celebrate every single one of Giacomo Agostini’s race victories, MV Agusta has handcrafted 311 units, the first 15 of which are dedicated to the 15 world titles won in his spectacular racing career.

The elegant fuel tank, characterized by an unmistakable racing form thanks to the refined leather strap is offered with a celebratory carbon fibre plate. What’s more, this exclusive plate – available from 01 to 15 units only – has unique graphics carrying both the trophy and the year of the world title won by Agostini.

The Bergamo-based champion’s personal signature represents a further indelible value which makes this piece of motorcycle art even more desired by
collectors.

PREMIUM COMPONENTS
The Superveloce Ago not only is one-of-a-kind bike in terms of styling, but it also features numerous top-level technical components never seen before on the Superveloce range.

The chassis, for example, stands out for Öhlins suspension components, in particular the 43 mm Nix fork and the TTX 36 rear shock absorber; both adjustable in preload, compression and rebound.

The settings have been developed on the road and track with a specific valving which truly aims to intensify the dynamic features of the Superveloce. Moreover, the adjustable Öhlins steering damper features a CNC machined support.

An additional characterizing element of the new Superveloce Ago is the new forged aluminum top triple clamp, embellished with CNC machining on the in top surfaces.

A special mention must be made of the superbly handcrafted elements of the fairing: the side panels, the fenders, the lower tail section and passenger seat cover are all made of carbon fibre.

Thanks to the new higher windshield, the Superveloce Ago not only offers better protection but has a distinctive look with a decidedly closer resemblance to the MV Agusta’s three-cylinder ridden race bikes by Agostini and successful in many competitions around the world.

The beautiful 3.5” front and 5.5” rear spoked wheels host 120/70 ZR17 and 180/55 ZR17 tyres.

DEDICATED KIT
The new Superveloce Ago features a unique kit, which includes the captivating Arrow 3-exit exhaust system (homologated for road use) which is immediately recognizable by two silencers on the right side and one on the left.

The triple exit right-side silencer is fitted as standard. What’s more, the Arrow asymmetrical exhaust system not only significantly guarantees an increase in power and torque but also contributes to intensify the Superveloce Ago racing character.

Without a doubt, this new Arrow exhaust system was inspired by the racing bikes of the past, protagonists of many glorious victories. The dedicated Engine Control Unit with dedicated engine mapping is another exclusive element that allows the maximum performance of the exhaust system.

One of the many details that make the MV Agusta Superveloce Ago kit unique are a pair of icon red handle grips, just like the ones used by Agostini, and the carbon fibre seat cowl fitted with an Alcantara pad.

An exclusive bike cover as well as a certificate guaranteeing the authenticity of the limited series is also included.

ENGINE AND ELECTRONICS
The 798 cc three-cylinder engine maintains its technical features, including the out-standing supersport performance.

With a 79 mm x 54,3 mm bore and stroke, 147 hp at 13,000 rpm, and a peak torque of 88 Nm (8.98 kgm) at 10,100 rpm: these are its record numbers.

Thumbs-up for KEiS 3-Finger Heated Gloves

The ultimate in winter luxury, KEiS G301 Three-Finger Heated Motorcycle Gloves are perfect for riders who really feel the winter chill in their fingers and hands.

Designed for maximum warmth, the G301’s three-finger design reduces airflow over the surface of the fingers, to keep the heat in and cold out. Inside, each finger has an individual ‘pocket’, for added comfort and warmth and a luxurious feel.

Like all KEiS heated gloves, they feature the latest technology in heat generation: Micro Carbon Fibre panels across the back of the hands and over the top of the fingers – the areas most susceptible to wind chill – for instant, fully-controllable warmth when it’s needed.

They can be powered from the bike’s 12V battery (using cables supplied) or using an optional  battery. KEiS offer a choice between a Battery Pack that can power both gloves or specially designed Glove Batteries, which fit into the cuff pocket on each glove. Current Draw is just 1.6A (for a pair of gloves) so it will not put undue strain on the motorcycle charging system or drain a battery pack too quickly.

On the back of each glove is an independent integral heat controller, positioned on the top of the wrist for easy operation when riding.

A thicker layer of 3M Thinsulate™ offers improved warmth distribution throughout the glove, without compromising dexterity and feel of the controls, while a hydrophobic outer shell and Hipora™ waterproof and breathable membrane offer 100% waterproofing, and help reduce windchill further still. The G301 are also  fully certified to the CE standard for motorcycle gloves (EU PPE Regulation 13594:2015).

On the left index finger there is a visor wipe – something often not included on winter gloves – that makes a significant difference on wet days.

KEiS G301 Three-Finger Heated Gloves are available in a huge range of sizes – 3XS-3XL – and are priced at £200 including VAT. The heating elements are covered by a lifetime warranty

Each pair comes with a Glove Y-Lead, Motorcycle Connection Lead and full operating Instructions, and feature the ‘Male Power Plug’ to connect to your chosen power source.

It has been ten years since my victory at the world championships, but the emotion is still the same, as is the “special” relationship that I have with the Nolangroup” – stated Casey Stoner.Nolan helmets have been a reliable companion for all my races and I am very grateful today to the company for this unexpected surprise”.

The new X-803 RS ULTRA CARBON CASEY STONER 10th ANNIVERSARY helmet boasts all the elements that have always accompanied the legend of international motorcycle racing in the 176 races of his career: the Australian flag, Casey’s logo, the number 27, and kangaroos. The rear features celebratory elements, such as the championship logo of the international MotoGP and the text World Champion 10th Anniversary positioned on the RAS (Racetrack Aerodynamic Spoiler). The X-803 RS ULTRA CARBON CASEY STONER 10th ANNIVERSARY, a special edition product for 2022, will soon be available from the best retailers.

In 2022, Nolangroup will be celebrating 50 years of Italian manufacturing history. Its sponsorship of the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix represents the first stage of celebrations. Accompanied by Casey Stoner and the riders Danilo Petrucci, Álex Rins and Arón Canet, the CEO of Nolangroup Enzo Panacci took the opportunity to sum up the company’s current economic situation, which is approaching this important anniversary with record results.

“We are truly proud to be representing Italy in this prestigious sports event. The Nolan Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix is an important showcase for our company, not only for the media attention that the event attracts, but also for its very name, which once again underlines one of our strengths: made in Italy quality. It is here, from the track side at Misano, that I would like to highlight the latest economic results. Nolangroup is closing the 2020/21 period with a turnover of 50 million euros, seeing an increase of 25% over the previous year and an EBITDA of around 9 million” – stated Enzo Panacci.

The company, the number one manufacturer in Europe, with 400,000 helmets per year under the Nolan, X-lite and Grex brands exported to 85 countries worldwide, has managed to face up to the pandemic, thanks to the constant efforts in Research and Development and the contribution of its 400 employees working at the production plants in Brembate di Sopra (in the province of Bergamo). Since the beginning, Nolangroup has been running its entire manufacturing chain in Italy, an additional aspect that renders the company unique.

2022 Honda NT1100

Model updatesA new breed of Honda tourer makes its debut. Taking the heart of the CRF1100L Africa Twin as a starting point, the NT1100 builds on the platform to offer  comfortable, agile, enjoyable performance. A low seat height and sharp steering geometry combine with high specification suspension to create a sporting package. 5-way height and angle adjustable screen and upper/lower wind deflectors ensure high-speed aero efficiency and outstanding weather protection; cruise control is standard, as are slim panniers and heated grips.  Rider aids include 3 default riding modes, 2 USER custom options, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Wheelie Control. Radial-mount four-piston front calipers provide the braking power, 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 front and rear tyres the grip. A 6.5-inch TFT touch screen rounds out a premium specification and features Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity.

  • Introduction

In a motorcycling landscape full of adventure-styled bikes, there is a gap. And that gap exists for riders that desire performance, handling, long range comfort, and technology but not necessarily the image or physical dimensions of ‘adventure’. In other words, what they want is a straightforward touring machine, but one with a rich specification list and a sporty edge to its performance – the sort of bike that deals with the weekday commute efficiently and usefully and is also ready for an extended tour, fully loaded.

The NT1100 is precisely that bike. A new breed of Honda tourer, it’s designed to draw those with a long memory of similar Honda machines of the past, but also attract a much younger rider. Employing the frame and characterful twin-cylinder engine of the CRF1100L Africa Twin as a base, engaging performance is assured. But it’s also packed with features that build and broaden any motorcycle’s appeal.

Koji Kiyono, Large Project Leader, NT1100:

“At Honda we have a long tradition of catering for owners who desire a ‘traditional’ touring bike. Our previous Pan European and Deauville models have enjoyed a very loyal following for many years. So, when it came time to design a new touring model, we wanted to produce something that would resonate – and appeal broadly – to these traditional touring bike customers. But we also wanted to stoke desire in riders of all ages and tastes who are looking for a genuinely new and versatile fun bike. That’s why we’ve created our new NT1100, offering thoroughly modern engine performance, a fun-to-handle chassis, a suite of modern technology and completely fresh, distinctive styling.

We sincerely hope that many new owners will try exploring to the maximum all of its many capabilities.”

  1. Model Overview

Comfortable, agile, enjoyable. The NT1100 in a nutshell. Sleek, subtle styling delivers efficient aerodynamic performance with a riding position tailored for touring. Screen height and angle are 5-way adjustable and upper and lower wind deflectors also work to protect the rider. A 6.5-inch TFT touch screen provides full colour, customisable displays and offers Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity. Cruise control, heated grips and sizable integrated panniers are standard equipment.

The NT1100’s steel semi-double cradle frame employs a relatively short wheelbase and sharp steering geometry while suspension is via 43mm Showa cartridge-type inverted front forks and single-tube rear shock. Rear spring preload adjusts hydraulically. Dual 310mm front discs are paired with 4-piston radial-mount calipers; tyres are sized 120/70-17 front and 180/55-17 rear.

It also features full-fat performance from the twin-cylinder engine, inherited from the Africa Twin, but with intake and exhaust tuned for super-smooth acceleration and a pleasing low-rpm sound. The performance does not come to the detriment of fuel economy: the engine’s efficiency allows a 400km range from the 20 litre fuel tank.

The electronic package includes 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Wheelie Control, full LED lights, self-cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signals. And finding a natural home in the NT11000, Honda’s six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) is an option.

  1. Key Features

3.1 Styling & Equipment

  • Sleek styling offers excellent aerodynamic performance
  • 5-stage screen height and angle adjustment plus upper/lower wind deflectors
  • Panniers standard equipment, as are heated grips and cruise control
  • 5-inch TFT touch screen includes Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto® and Bluetooth connectivity
  • USB socket, centre stand and ACC socket as standard

The NT1100 has been designed, from the outset, as a sporting, agile bike but one that’s also enjoyable to ride all day with efficient, protective aerodynamics and easy-going ergonomics centred around rider comfort.

Styling is subtly sophisticated with straightforward surfaces that emphasise key character lines. Dynamic elegance front to back are the defining features of the design language of the NT1100. And of course this motorcycle’s sleek form is also about function – aimed to elevate the quality of the riding experience.

Fitted as standard, upper and lower deflectors provide wind and weather protection around arms and lower body. The screen offers 5-stage adjustment for height and angle through a total 164mm between the high/low position. Set low, it sends air around the shoulders; set high it moves air over the rider’s helmet. Heated grips are standard equipment, as is cruise control.

The rider integrates into the machine neatly, enveloped by the protection offered by the fairing. A wide, thick seat material offers a luxurious expanse for two; seat height is set at 820mm. A large grabrail for the passenger extends from the rear rack.

The exhaust muffler, too is set low to maximise pannier volume. And it’s the standard-fit, detachable panniers that are one of the NT1100’s key features. Deliberately designed to be as slim as possible for around-town riding they are just 901mm across at their widest point. Pannier volume is at 33L left and 32L right.

Bright and easy to read, the 6.5-inch TFT touch screen offers 3 choices of screen display; GOLD shows all numeric and mode information. SILVER centres on the speedometer and rev-counter, BRONZE on the rev-counter. The background colour has a default setting plus the choice of black or white. Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto® and Bluetooth connectivity allows access to smartphone functions via the TFT display.

The premium specification is rounded out by full LED lights (with DRL), self-cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signals; practicality is further elevated by USB socket, centre stand and ACC socket as standard.

The NT1100 will be available in the following colour options:

Matte Iridium Gray Metallic

Pearl Glare White

Graphite Black

3.2 Chassis

  • CRF1100L steel semi-double cradle frame and bolt-on aluminium subframe
  • Sharp steering geometry and high spec suspension front and rear
  • Showa 43mm inverted front forks and rear shock with hydraulic preload adjustment
  • Dual 310mm front discs and 4-piston radial-mount calipers

The NT1100’s underpinnings are well-proven and tough – the Africa Twin CRF1100L’s steel semi-double cradle frame and bolt-on aluminium subframe. To suit the all-round, sporting purpose of the NT1100, the off-road ready suspension of its sibling has been replaced by road-focused equipment matched to sharper steering geometry.

The 43mm Showa cartridge-type inverted front forks feature 150mm travel and are preload adjustable. Like the forks, the single-tube pressurised Showa rear shock offers 150mm axle travel; it uses a 14mm diameter rod. To make carrying a pillion and/or luggage easier spring preload adjusts hydraulically, and remotely.

The wheels are aluminium, fine die-cast with a sand core allowing a hollow hub centre for the front. An intersecting spoke design (with the spokes attaching to the rim diagonally) offers several benefits: it smooths road vibration in a straight line and offers high rigidity for cornering. Tyres are sized 120/70-17 front and 180/55-17 rear.

Wheelbase is set at 1535mm, with rake and trail of 26.5°/108mm and 175mm ground clearance Kerb weight for the NT1100 with manual transmission is 238kg, 248kg with DCT.

Dual 310mm front discs are squeezed by lightweight, 4-piston radial-mount calipers. The rear 256mm disc uses a 1-piston caliper. All braking is ABS-controlled.

3.3 Engine

  • 1,084cc SOHC 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine
  • Power and torque output of 75kW/104Nm
  • Intake and exhaust tuned to deliver smooth, powerful acceleration and pleasing low-rpm ‘throb’

The NT1100’s 1,084cc SOHC 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine is the well-proven units from the CRF1100L Africa Twin, with peak power of 75kW @ 7,250rpm and 104Nm @ 6,250rpm peak torque. Compression ratio is identical at 10.1:1. Another shared feature is the 270° phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval.

Throttle By Wire (TBW) provides engine management and PGM-FI feeds the throttle bodies. Where the engine tune differs to the Africa Twin – and immediately noticeable to the rider – are the optimisation of both air intake duct length and muffler internals to produce a pleasing, low-rpm ‘throb’ and smooth, powerful acceleration married to relaxed highway cruising – perfect for the wide-ranging duties the NT1100 is built for.

The crankcases are split vertically and the water pump is housed within the clutch casing with a thermostat integrated into the cylinder head. Manual and DCT versions of the engine share common crankcases with only minor external differences. Secondary vibrations are neutralised by the mutually reciprocating motion of the pistons, while primary inertial and coupling vibrations are cancelled by the use of biaxial balance shafts. The water and oil pumps are driven by the balancer shafts.

A crank pulsar – with relator teeth spaced at 10° intervals – manages misfire detection, important for OBD2/EURO5 compliance. In addition for EURO5 Linear Air Flow (LAF) sensors in the downpipes give accurate measurement of the air/fuel mixture ratio.

2022 HONDA NT1100

3.4 Engine Electronics

  • 3 default riding modes to choose from, plus two customisable USER modes
  • 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control
  • 3-level Wheelie Control

TBW manages engine performance and character, plus Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Wheelie Control. There are 3 pre-set modes for the rider to choose covering a wide variety of riding conditions and 3 levels of management for Power and Engine Braking, with level 1 delivering the maximum of either parameter. For HSTC and Wheelie Control level 3 provides the highest intervention.

Mode selection is managed from the left-hand switchgear; an indicator in the instrument display activates when HSTC is working.

URBAN is standard and offers an all-round middle setting of engine power and engine braking.

RAIN reduces engine power and engine braking for extra reassurance on wet or slippery surfaces.

TOUR gives full engine power and standard engine braking, for strong acceleration while carrying a pillion and luggage.

USER 1 and 2 modes offer the ability to customise between the settings for the preferred combination. Once set, the USER setting is automatically stored so there’s no need to re-set each time the ignition is turned on.

2022 HONDA NT1100

3.5 Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

  • DCT offers choice of Automatic (AT) or Manual Transmission (MT)
  • 3-levels of S mode for wide-ranging sporty AT shifting performance

Honda has sold over 200,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles across Europe since the system first appeared as an option on the VFR1200F in 2009. Testament to its acceptance in the market place, across Honda’s model range, 53% of customers chose the DCT option over the manual in 2020. The system delivers consistent, seamless gear changes and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th gears, the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system pre-selects the target gear using the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as, simultaneously, the second clutch engages.

The result is a consistent, fast and seamless gear change. Furthermore, as the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption of the drive to the rear wheel, any gear change shock and pitching of the machine is minimised, making the change feel direct as well as smooth. Extra benefits include durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear) impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and – crucially – the ability to concentrate more on riding lines, braking and acceleration points.

The DCT system offers two distinct riding approaches – Automatic Transmission (AT), with pre-programmed shift patterns which constantly read vehicle speed, gear selected and engine rpm to decide when a shift should occur, and Manual Transmission (MT), for gear changes using the paddle-shift style triggers on the left handlebar.

There are two settings within AT to choose from; D mode offers effortless riding and maximum fuel efficiency. S mode serves up 3 levels of sports-based shifting. Level 1 is the most modest, changing gears in the medium rpm range. Level 3 is the most aggressive and operates at high rpm with Level 2 is the intermediate point between the two. The preferred selection can also be saved.

  1. Accessories

There are a range of accessories tailor made ready for the NT1100, including quickshifter with autoblipper function, and aluminium cosmetic panels for the luggage. To make it easy for an owner to get their NT1100 the way they want it, 3 packs are also available (all items can also be purchased separately):

2022 Kawasaki Z H2: The Bare Facts

Kawasaki Z H2

Kicking sand in the face of all other naked machines, the Kawasaki Z H2 and its equally sinewy sibling, the Z H2 SE, are products of a manufacturer at the forefront of the trend for stripped back, naked machines.

But Kawasaki has a trump card in the litre class segment of this popular style of machine, a 100% in-house designed and manufactured integrated supercharger. Calling on the skills of its aerospace and gas turbine divisions, Kawasaki has created a unique range of forced induction machines with Supersport, Sport Touring and, in the case of the Z models, Supernaked focus.

Key to the essential lure of the Z H2 concept is the use of a balanced supercharger application. Prioritising low and especially mid-range pulling power (without completely sacrificing that essential Kawasaki “top end rush”) the two 998cc Supernaked models in the 2022 range are impressively specified.

Sugomi styling dominates making an unapologetic statement where engineering qualities are matched like-for-like by styling features. Allied to this the rider environment is equally impressive featuring fat type tubular handlebars, a large colour TFT meter panel with a variety of settings plus the ability to pair with the rider’s Smartphone and interact with the latest, updated version of Kawasaki’s Rideology App.

Kawasaki Z H2

The trellis type chassis will be familiar to Ninja H2 fans but subtleties such as the twin spar swinging arm illustrate just how the creation of these dominant Supernakeds was fine tuned to suit the style of riding and performance envelope they would be operated within.

Rider aids abound with up/down quick shifters, integrated braking, switchable launch control, three mode traction control, power modes and even electronic cruise control showing that the seductive raw looks belie a refined rider-friendly personality. LED headlamps and ancillary lighting throughout illuminate what lays ahead while Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers ensure controlled and predictable stopping while the assist and slipper clutch facilitates slick down-changes.

Kawasaki Z H2 SE

For those seeking the ultimate in naked satisfaction, the SE model offers a degree of temptation that, for many, will be hard to resist. Kawasaki’s KECS electronically damped suspension is the stand-out feature of the SE model offering Showa Skyhook Technology whereby the attitude of the machine remains stable as the road undulates and the suspension reacts updating itself thousands of times per second. Additionally, the Z H2 SE’s higher-spec Brembo front brake package includes Stylema monobloc calipers and a Brembo radial pump front master cylinder, offering stronger braking performance and enhanced control.

The final touch is a special graphics package that sets the SE model apart from not just the standard Z H2 but all other Supernaked machines in the category. There is choice in the upper echelons of naked class, and an array machines on offer so it’s reassuring that once the bare facts are considered the Kawasaki Z H2.

Available from March 2022, colours and prices will be:

Z H2
– Metallic Graphite Gray/Metallic Diablo Black (Standard £15,999, Performance £17,099)
– Metallic Diablo Black/Golden Blazed Green (Standard £15,999, Performance £17,099)

New Aprilia RS 660 GBRacing engine protection

Comprehensive protection for the Aprilia RS 660

GBRacing is excited to announce the launch of a comprehensive range of engine protection for Aprilia’s middleweight super-twin, the stunning RS 660.

After several months of development and refinement to ensure each secondary cover’s impact and abrasion performance meets the usual GBRacing standards, the design team set about creating aesthetics to complement the Italian’s beautiful lines without compromising functionality and safety.

In addition to the usual alternator and clutch secondary covers, GBRacing’s engineers decided that due to the shape of the engine and vulnerability of certain fluid-containing parts, a water pump cover should be included to add even more protection to the parallel twin-cylinder engine.

With a commitment to protect riders and machines from oil spills, and to assist race stewards and track day operators to minimise stoppages and damage to the track surface, GBRacing is proud to have produced a competitively priced set of secondary engine covers for the Aprilia RS 660 with the same high-quality materials and level of attention to detail as those used by teams at the very highest level of competition.

Parts are available now for the Aprilia RS 660.

Pricing as below (inc UK VAT):
Alternator/generator cover: £93.10/ $124.13 / €93.87
Clutch cover: £90.36 / $120.48 / €91.11
Water pump cover: £73.87 / $98.50 / €74.49
Complete set of above: £244.46 / $325.95 / €246.50

Braih, Spanish technology and design in the creation of the new category of ebike

● Braih Super e-Bikes are more than bikes, halfway between normal e-Bikes and motorbikes. Unstoppable and versatile machines, with great stability, comfort and one of the highest ranges on the market, 184km (114mi) under the R200 certification.

● Entirely handmade in Spain, handcrafted and with an exclusive design, the Super e-Bikes are presented today to the market with a limited edition launch.

● They are designed based on three clear pillars: exclusivity, performance and technology.

● Braih thus responds to a demand from users who are looking for different riding sensations from an e-Bike, valuing a ground-breaking aesthetic and superior comfort and stability compared to other bikes.

Braih Bikes presents today its first bike, the Super e-Bike, an electric bike handmade in Spain, with a torque of up to 160Nm (114Nm in the 250W versions), a range of 184 km and a groundbreaking design, clearly inspired by off-road motorcycles.

The Starting Line Edition is a limited launch edition of 150 units, in which you can find exclusive and numbered Super e-Bikes that leave no one indifferent thanks to their eye-catching design, high quality features and the careful attention to detail typical of the first edition.

The RC1 250 and RC1-R 250 are the launch models, approved under the EPAC cycle and limited to 250W and 25km/h. Both models come with high quality standard features, such as a 1,254Wh battery, a Bafang MM G510 central motor, limited to 250W, and 6082-T6 aluminium backbone chassis handmade in Barcelona (with 185 mm of rear travel) and mono-link swingarm, inspired by manufacturing solutions in the motorbike world.

“We have made accessible to users a different electric bike, with its own personality, which combines the riding sensations of an off-road motorcycle with the sporting experience of a bike. All this is the outcome of our great passion for the world of motorbikes and bikes, and the result of our many years of industrial experience leading the manufacture of components for trial and racing motorcycles”, says Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, CEO of Braih.

Braih has also developed for their Super e-Bikes a unique solution in the industry, implementing Bluetooth connectivity to the charging system. This solution allows to protect and extend the life of such a critical element as the battery, reducing the number of cycles and the stress produced by full charges. With this technological application, all the models in the range have an Intelligent Charge Management System through the Braih APP, which connects to the e-Bike and allows 3 different charge levels to be set, depending on how the battery is going to be used:

  • Storage, for when the bike is not going to be used immediately.
  • Daily use, charges to about 80% and offers enough range for most routes.
  • Full charge, only for when you need to use 100% of the e-Bike’s great range.

Braih will sell their Super e-Bikes exclusively online through their e-commerce, however, unlike other online D2C brands, Braih offers physical and mobile workshops, which are part of BraihTec, their international network of technical services, and where maintenance, repairs and warranty management of the bikes can be carried out.

The brand has opened the pre-order form for the first Super e-Bikes in stock, on their website https://en.braihbikes.com/ The bikes will be ready to be delivered to the first customers on the 1st of December. Available from €6,590.

Record third quarter for Ducati, which leads to already higher deliveries

Record third quarter for Ducati, which leads to already higher deliveries in the first nine months of 2021 than entire 2020.

An extremely positive third quarter has ended for Ducati with 49,693 motorcycles delivered to enthusiasts all over the world. At the end of the first nine months of 2021, the company has already exceeded the sales volumes obtained in the whole 2020 (year total 2020: 48,042).

The third quarter of 2021 is confirmed as the best in Ducati’s history, with a growth of +3% over the same period of 2020 and +25% compared to 2019.

At the end of September, the biggest market for motorcycles delivered remains the Italian one (7,954), followed by the United States (7,475) and Germany (5,627).

Francesco Milicia, Ducati VP Global Sales and After Sales: “Ducati closed the first nine months of the year with sales volumes that are already higher than the full year 2020, both for the bikes and for after-sales products like clothing, accessories and spare parts. The growth we are experiencing is practically widespread on all the main markets in which Ducati is present and extends across the product families. We are very satisfied with the results obtained: the community of Ducatisti is growing all over the world and the most influential magazines in the motorcycling sector are awarding important prizes to Ducati bikes. This is a source of pride and satisfaction for us here in Borgo Panigale and in all Ducati subsidiaries worldwide. The brand is now more solid and appreciated than ever and we are already focusing on next year. In fact, in these weeks, we are presenting to the world the new products for the coming year, through the web series Ducati World Première 2022”.

Francesco Milicia, VP Global Sales and After Sales Ducati Motor Holding

Confirming the appreciation of Ducati motorcycles, throughout the year all the product families of the Bologna-based manufacturer have been growing across the board. In particular, the most delivered bikes are the Multistrada V4, which has remained in first place throughout 2021, followed by the Ducati Scrambler 800 family, the Streetfighter V4 and, immediately after, by the Monster.

Ducati has already started to present the new products of the 2022 range. The first episodes of the Ducati World Première was dedicated to the new Multistrada V2, a comfortable, fun to ride, versatile and technologically advanced twin-cylinder bike that represents the new gateway to the Multistrada universe.

Also the new models of the Ducati Scrambler world have been unveiled, with the arrival of the new Ducati Scrambler 1100 Tribute PRO which was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the air-cooled twin-cylinder engine on a Ducati and which incorporates some stylistic elements typical of the 1970s era. On the other hand, the 800 family is joined by the Ducati Scrambler Urban Motard, a motorcycle created to experience the city environment by making itself noticed through a combination of style, sportiness and fun.

Sunra partners with Lexham Insurance

Moto Electric, the sole UK distributor of the Sunra EV brand, has agreed a partnership with leading motorcycle and scooter insurance experts, Lexham Insurance, providing the official scheme for owners of the brand’s models.

Commencing with immediate effect, owners of the entire Sunra range can now benefit from preferential insurance rates from Lexham; leading specialists not only in scooter and small capacity motorcycles, but specifically for two-wheel EV models too.

Logan Black of Moto Electric, commented, “We’re very pleased to agree this partnership with Lexham. For us, establishing the brand in the UK isn’t just about bringing new products to the market, but ensuring we support both our customers and dealers as comprehensively as possible. Having a trusted insurance partner is an important part of this overall support, of which Lexham are incredibly well positioned for, thanks to their long-standing experience and great reputation for customer service too”.

With the Sunra range boasting five models, currently offering 50 and 125cc equivalents and with many customers based in urban areas, the team at Lexham have a panel of underwriters that aim to keep the cost of zero emission transport as competitive as possible.

Andy Goodson of Lexham Insurance, explained, “The EV market is of course relatively new to us all, and there are some misconceptions about risks both in terms of theft and in total loss situations. The reality is far more conventional and so we’ve been able to work with underwriters to look at rates from a real-world perspective. As such, we can offer Sunra owners a truly cost effective approach in general to their insurance cover.”

With Sunra products priced competitively to begin with, Insurance rates with Lexham are extremely competitive, making the switch to two-wheels for commuters even more compelling.
