Ninja 650 moves boldly into 2022 season

Now firmly established as an adaptable and inspirational riding partner in the mid-capacity Sports segment, the Ninja 650 is ready to move boldly into 2022 with three colour options for the upcoming season.

Rightfully popular with riders seeking an easy to live with sports, light tour or even commuting machine, the Ninja 650 is highly adaptable to these diverse roles while excelling in each. Thanks to an engine platform which has been gradually updated and refined over a number of years, the 2022 Ninja 650 maintains its A2 licence compliance and retains its unique character while passing the requirements of Euro5 legislation.

Rated at 68 PS (50.2 kW), the water-cooled, assist and slipper clutch equipped parallel twin engine at the very heart of the Ninja 650 possesses an intriguing character being responsive and capable or answering the needs for town and city based urban commuting whilst having impressive reserves of characterful mid to high rev performance when the open road beckons.

Chassis and styling wise, the sharp Superbike inspired look of the Ninja 650 is backed up by trellis type chassis similar to some of Kawasaki’s most prestigious models married to 41 mm front forks and a horizontal back link rear suspension system evocative of the technology used on the factory Ninja machines raced in WorldSBK.

And speaking of technology, 2022 riders will enjoy the twin LED headlights plus an all-digital TFT colour meter which has justifiably won so many plaudits from the media and current owners alike. Additionally, via a Bluetooth connection, the meter can be linked to the riders’ Smartphone using the Rideology app developed exclusively for Kawasaki machines taking the ownership experience to the next level.

Bold and confident of its place in the mid-weight sports marketplace, the Ninja 650 for 2022 will draw a wide range of customers with its infectious charm and undeniable abilities.

Available in January 2022, the new colour options and Editions are:

– Metallic matte graphenesteel gray (Standard – £7,349, Performance – £8,849, Tourer – £8,074, Urban – £7,569)

– Pearl robotic white/metallic carbon gray (Standard – £7,499, Performance – £8,999, Tourer – £8,224, Urban – £7,719)

– Lime green/ebony/pearl blizzard white (Standard – £7,499, Performance – £8,999, Tourer – £8,224, Urban – £7,719)

Five Reasons Why You Need To Be At The Stafford Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show

Five Reasons Why You Need To Be At The Stafford Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show on 9-10th October 2021

SUMMER has come and passed…however, in the world of classic motorcycling it can only mean one thing – Stafford Classic Bike Show is just around the corner!

After a tough 18 months, show organiser Mortons Media Group shares its top five reasons why you need to be there!

1) Road Racing Royalty: Michael Dunlop!
Nineteen time TT winner Michael Dunlop is set to take centre stage during the course of the weekend, with opportunities for fans to take photographs, have Michael sign their merchandise and listen to interviews with fellow TT star Steve Plater. The Irishman will also be bringing two of his bikes to display on both Saturday and Sunday.

2) Joey Dunlop Bike Collection!
The Dunlop dynasty presence continues out into the halls with a fantastic display of machines ridden and owned by Michael’s late uncle and TT record holder, Joey.

The Joey Dunlop Foundation will be filling its stand with an incredible collection of Honda RC45s; including the original Honda 750 as ridden by Joey in the 1994 TT, where he achieved third place in both the Senior race and Formula 1 race. The charity, which was established in 2001, is also planning to bring the lap record-holding 1999 Jim Moodie Honda RC45 750, which he famously rode at 124.5mph!

Visitors can also expect to see a further collection of RC45s and CBR 600s as ridden by Ian Simpson, Michael Rutter and Steve Hislop in the Competition Hall.

3) Bonhams is back!
Bonhams returns to Stafford with another barnstorming two-day sale offering more than 300 collectors’ motorcycles including two ‘fresh to market’ important single-owner collections.

The Phil Morris Road Racing Collection of 24 machines is offered direct from the collection in Oswestry: a treasure trove – and one of the world’s largest collections – of motorcycles, leathers and trophies raced, worn and won by some of the most famous names on two wheels and dubbed ‘The Church’ by TT rider Rob Barber.

This landmark collection is led by no fewer than five MotoGP machines, the entire fleet from the Paul Bird Motorsport team which campaigned in the top-flight series from 2012 to 2014. All Aprilia machines, three are to full Moto GP prototype specification and include the number 1 and number 2 motorcycles from the 2014 season.

The second collection comprised more than 40 important motorcycles owned by the late acclaimed German film critic Hans Schifferle, led by a rare 1974 Ducati 750 SS; estimate £90,000 – £130,000.

Known for his work for Süddeutsche Zeitung as a film critic and essayist, Schifferle, who died last year, was also a motorcycle connoisseur, building up his collection over two decades.

Offering a range of motorcycles from sports bikes to café racers, the collection represents the great Italian, British and American marques, including MV Agusta, Vincent and Indian.

More than 130 lots of motorcycle spares and memorabilia will also be offered.

4) LIVE Music!
The show is making full use of the bandstand this year. As well as using it for interviewing Michael Dunlop, visitors can enjoy multiple sets from a couple of  live bands in there too!

Catch Ignition live on Saturday for three half-hour sets at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm. Ignition is a Staffordshire-based Rockabilly band aiming to replicate the Neo Rockabilly sound of the 1980s. It offers high tempo, hard hitting rock ‘n’ roll with a mix of classics from the 1950s through to the present day.

On Sunday, visitors can expect something completely different!  The all-singing, all-dancing female close harmony duo The Daisy Belles will be recapturing the authentic sounds of The Andrews Sisters, live on the stage at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Showcasing a delightful mix of classic hits from the bygone years and popular modern songs with a unique twist, the girls have been dazzling audiences internationally with their intricate harmonies, cute vintage choreography and fun loving flare!

5) Bikes EVERYWHERE!
Saving the best ‘til last – Stafford really is all about the bikes… and this October promises to be no exception.

Lots of the clubs in particular will be celebrating some of their milestone anniversaries with an extra special collection on display for all to see.

The CBX Riders’ Club (UK) will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the CBX Pro-link, this being the third generation of the fantastic Honda six-cylinder CBX 1000. Honda reconfigured the CBX for 1981 as a sports touring bike, with fairing and side panniers. The rear suspension also changed from dual to mono shock, and saw the introduction of the progressive linkage system – hence the name Pro-Link! Visitors can find the club in one of the side halls at the show.

Plans are in place for a full return of all the much-loved aspects of the show including the wall of death, massive indoor and outdoor trade and autojumble and club stands. There’ll be bikes everywhere, live trials action and live music too, with no planned restrictions in place. More details can be found on the website: www.staffordclassicbikeshows.com

Tickets are on sale now at an early bird price of £13 until October 4. Visit www.staffordclassicbikeshows.com or call 01507 529529 to purchase.

Suzuki reveals new GSX-S1000GT

Suzuki has revealed its new GSX-S1000GT, a new sports-tourer designed to take riders further, faster, without sacrificing comfort and practicality; it’s ready to power your journey in style. Following a mantra of performance, distance, connection, the new GT provides all-day riding ability in a package designed to cover distances effortlessly, thanks to its characterful-yet-smooth 152PS engine, agile chassis and wind-cheating bodywork, and comprehensive suite of electronic rider aids and smartphone connectivity.

  • A comfortable, upright riding position means the GSX-S1000GT can cover long distances with ease, while a plush pillion seat and optional hard luggage makes two-up touring a breeze. A tall screen and wind-cheating bodywork reduce rider fatigue.
  • A comprehensive electronics suite comprises a plethora of rider aids, performance enhancing systems, and creature comforts to boost the GT’s touring ability, including a TFT dash with smartphone connectivity, cruise control, a bi-directional quickshifter, traction control, and selectable power modes.
  • A striking new face with horizontal LED headlights and position lights creates a radical new look for the GT, along with LED rear combination lights and indicators. The new style is complemented by a new seat design, slim tail section and short, compact muffler, embodying a sport touring machine built for both speed and comfort.
  • The whole package is powered by the inline-four cylinder engine found in the new GSX-S1000, which produces 152PS and 106Nm of torque, spread evenly across the rev range resulting in a smooth power delivery that builds into a strong top-end rush.

A true sports tourer
The GSX-S1000GT fits into Suzuki’s lineup as a true sports tourer, combining the perfect blend of performance, agility, stability, control, comfort, connectivity, and style to deliver a premium experience befitting the GT monika. The GT is equally at home crossing countries at speed on motorways and fast A-roads or carving through twisty mountain passes and winding B-roads.

Designed to be able to cover distances quickly and comfortably, the GT’s upright riding position is cocooned by wind-deflecting bodywork and a screen capable of diverting the air flow without hampering vision when being ridden sportily. A plush rider’s seat is complemented by a comfortable pillion pad with easily-reached grab rails and ample legroom, while optional hard luggage can accommodate full face helmets, ensuring the GT makes light work of two-up touring.

A performance-orientated chassis, engineered to be lightweight and agile, is also designed to offer a comfortable ride and soak up road imperfections, reducing rider fatigue on longer journeys. A comprehensive electronics package let’s the rider exploit the superbike-derived engine’s performance, aids rider comfort and enhances the GT’s ability to cover distances effectively and efficiently.

Electronics package
The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) found on the new GSX-S1000GT helps it fill its role as a versatile sports tourer.

A ride-by-wire throttle not only delivers smooth, linear engine response that mirrors twist grip input, it also allows the rider to choose from one of three selectable engine maps, based on the road conditions or riding styles. Mode A provides the most direct throttle response and reaches the top of its power curve at a lower rpm. Torque delivery provides exciting acceleration and, true to its superbike heritage, fully leverages the power of its 999cc engine.

Mode B reaches the same level of maximum output, but features a more linear curve with softer initial throttle response, with C providing the softest throttle response and more gentler torque characteristics, ideal in wet or trickier riding conditions.

A five-mode traction control system further supports the rider in a variety of riding conditions, from touring in adverse weather or enjoying a sporty ride, or whether riding alone or with a pillion or carrying luggage.

The higher the mode, the faster the control takes effect and the more proactive the system is in limiting wheel spin. The system is programmed to continuously monitor front and rear wheel speed, engine RPM, throttle position, and gear position. It is designed to immediately limit power and help prevent slipping when an imminent loss of traction is detected by controlling the throttle opening, ignition timing, and fuel injection rate.

Performance gains as well as reduced rider fatigue come from a bi-directional quickshifter, which enables the rider to shift up or down without operating the clutch lever, ensuring smoother, almost uninterrupted acceleration and slicker downshifts, working in conjunction with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS).

Long motorway stints are made all the less arduous thanks to the GT’s cruise control system, which allows riders to set their speed and close the throttle. Suzuki Low RPM Assist and Easy Start System make starting and pulling away or riding in slow-moving traffic easy, with just one push of the starter button enough to fire the engine, and an automatic raising of the rpm at low engine speeds helps avoid stalling.

All information from the electronic systems are displayed via a 6.5” colour TFT dash, meaning riders can constantly monitor their chosen settings, and adjust on the move. As well as showing other readouts – such as speed, rpm, trip, range, gear indicator, and fuel level – the 6.5-inch TFT display is designed to support the smartphone connectivity features of the new Suzuki mySPIN app.

In contrast to similar products that employ systems developed for use in cars, the GT adopts hardware and software designed specifically for motorcycle use. As such, Suzuki mySPIN works seamlessly on the TFT screen to enrich the functionality of smartphone connectivity. The result is a smart cockpit environment that blends riding and vehicle status updates, such as the speedometer and tachometer readouts, with pertinent information, communication and entertainment from the rider’s smartphone.

By installing the free mySPIN app on their phone, the rider can access an array of useful functions, including maps for navigation, imported contact lists and hands-free communication, music connectivity, and calendar updates.

This functionality helps the GSX-S1000GT achieve its design goal of a true sports tourer, further enhancing the riding experience.

GT styling
A true sports tourer not only combines performance, comfort, and practicality, but it does so in style, and the same is true of the new GSX-S1000GT.

The striking face combines the pair of horizontally arranged LED headlights, new mirror design, and side mounted turn signals to create a look of advanced GT styling that proposes a new face for future Suzuki motorcycles. These elements combine with the new seat design, slim tail section and short, compact muffler design to create a sleek and luxurious image that emphasises the new GT’s prowess as a sports touring machine built for comfort and speed.

It is designed to be aerodynamically efficient, and to be easier to control and more comfortable, whether touring for long distances with a full load and a pillion or heading out for a sporty solo ride.

Luxury extends to the three available colour options: Metallic Triton Blue, representing Suzuki’s brand identity, as used on Suzuki’s MotoGP machines, Metallic Reflective Blue, a dark blue with a luxurious gloss finish, and Glass Sparkle Black, a combination of glossy and flat black.

Performance
Based on the new GSX-S1000 platform, the GT uses the same exciting 152PS inline-four cylinder engine that delivers smooth, consistent power throughout the rev range. It features a broad, smooth torque curve and a power delivery that reduces fatigue when touring at motorway speeds, but one that also shows its superbike roots when ridden enthusiastically, where the strong midrange thrust builds into an exciting top-end rush.

A compact 4-2-1 exhaust system positions the Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system behind the collector, along with catalytic converters and stylish exhaust that not only meets Euro 5 emissions standards, but also delivers an exciting exhaust note. Aural pleasure also comes from the airbox, which is designed to reduce intake resistance while delivering an impressive resonance.

Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) gives a light clutch lever operation, reducing rider fatigue especially when negotiating busy traffic. It also mitigates aggressive downshifts from sportier riding styles, too.

All this comes wrapped in the GSX-S1000’s sporty, lightweight frame with the same superbike-derived swingarm, ensuring high levels of performance in a variety of riding and usage conditions.

Fully adjustable 43mm KYB inverted front forks deliver a smooth ride, whether touring with a passenger or out enjoying a sporty ride. Rebound damping and spring preload adjustable link-type rear suspension contributes to agility and stability.

Attractive six-spoke cast aluminium wheels contribute to nimble handling and stability, shod with Dunlop SPORTMAX Roadsport2 tyres that are custom engineered. Two four-piston Brembo monobloc front brake calipers bite 310mm floating discs to deliver strong, reliable braking performance and plenty of feel. Wide-set, rubber-mounted floating handlebars make for a comfortable riding position but with high levels of control and feel for sportier riding.

Pricing and availability
The new GSX-S1000GT will be available in Suzuki dealerships in November 2021, with an RRP of £11,599.

2022 Z900 SE takes Kawasaki’s popular Supernaked to next level

Already a hot favourite with tens of thousands of Supernaked fans across Europe – and a best seller in its class in many countries – the popular Z900 will now be available as an SE model.

Employing Kawasaki’s now familiar specification refinement policy for these premium models, the Z900 SE seeks to take the already highly regarded Z900 platform to the next level offering refinements to ride quality and chassis feedback without taking away the essential “Sugomi spirit” that has made the machine so popular.

A clear change at the front of the machine is the adoption of a new Brembo brake package. Calipers are now M4.32 radial-mount monobloc items acting on ø300 mm Brembo rotors using the same company’s brake pads fed by steel braided brake lines. The net result for Z900 SE riders will be stronger stopping power, more precise control and greater feel.

In terms of the front forks these are ø41mm inverted design having compression and rebound adjustability plus stepless preload adjustment. Complementing the other chassis changes, the visual appeal of the front suspension is now enhanced via the use of gold-coloured fork outer tubes.

The same attention to detail is evident at the rear of the machine which now boasts a new shock absorber in the form of an Öhlins S46 unit. Its aluminium body encompasses a single-tube construction with a large ø46 mm piston plus internal oil and gas chambers separated by a floating piston. For convenience and quick adjustment, the Z900 SE rear shock absorber is also fitted with a remote pre-load adjuster. Along with retuned front suspension settings, the adoption of the S46 from Öhlins takes handling and chassis response to the next level and will meet the performance needs of even the most demanding Z rider.

Underpinning these easy to spot new components is a focussed suite of rider aids all designed to give Z900 SE owners the best ride possible yet not mask the base appeal of such a visceral Supernaked machine. KTRC traction control is part of the specification along with selectable power modes and an assist and slipper clutch. The exhaust note has been “sound tuned” by KHI engineers while within the riders view as part of the meter assembly there is a useful Economical Riding Indicator plus the ability to Bluetooth connect the machine to the riders’ Smartphone via Kawasaki’s unique Rideology App allowing the integration of several machine details plus information from rides taken and a variety of other options.

Available in a single, distinctive colourway of Metallic Spark Black / Candy Lime Green, the new Z900 SE is sure to find a place in the hearts of a huge number of riders in the coming year. Available from December 2021, the Z900 SE will be priced at £10,749 as Standard and £11,699 for the Performance Edition.

GO ELECTRIC ORANGE WITH 10TEN

The innovative 10TENMX-E, launched towards the end of 2020, has been released in the same striking black and orange livery adopted by its petrol-powered stablemates.

The MX-E is 10TEN’s first foray into the electric off-road motorcycle market and signals the brand’s focus on embracing new technology and developing its popular range of Pit, Supermoto and Dirt bikes.

1961-2021: 60 years of World Grand Prix racing for Yamaha

Racing has been an integral part of Yamaha’s DNA from the day that the factory was incorporated on 1 July 1955. At the time, the company proved its products on the racetrack just days after Yamaha Motor Company was founded, when the YA-1 won the Mount Fuji Ascent Race at its very first attempt on 10 July.

Spurred on by this success, Yamaha entered its first international race at Catalina, USA in 1958. By now, the company was developing some of the most competitive two-stroke machines, and the decision was made to experience the ultimate test of rider and machine by entering the 250cc RD48 race bike in the World Championship Grand Prix round in France in May 1961. Competing at the highest level put the company firmly on the map and marked the beginning of the brand’s transformation into one of the world’s most successful and innovative motorcycle manufacturers.

Just two years after Yamaha’s debut GP, Fumio Ito took the brand’s first ever GP win on the RD56 at the Belgian Grand Prix, and the company has never looked back since that day. 1964 saw Yamaha win its first World Championship as well as its first Constructor’s title with Phil Read in the 250cc class, the first of many victories in that decade. It was the beginning of an incredible journey for everyone involved in the company’s race programme, and during the past 60 years Yamaha has established itself as one of the most successful manufacturers with over 500 Grand Prix race wins, along with 38 rider titles, 37 constructor titles and 7 team titles.

Speed block: Yamaha’s historic racing colours
In 1964 the competition department debuted their 250cc Grand Prix racer with a new white fairing with a solid red stripe and red front fender. It proved to be a good omen, and factory rider Phil Read went on to win Yamaha’s first ever world title.

This bold, simple and dynamic red/white colour scheme soon established itself as the instantly-recognisable Yamaha look in Grand Prix road racing, and was the forerunner to Yamaha speed block: arguably the most famous and best-loved colour scheme ever featured on a racing motorcycle.

A white fairing with red speed block rapidly established itself as the definitive Yamaha racing colour scheme in Europe for the next two decades right through to the Rainey and Lawson era. The incredible public reaction to the recent unveiling of the factory M1 with its special 60th Anniversary speed block colours demonstrates that it is one of the company’s most evocative colour schemes that is popular with riders and fans of all ages. Simple, dynamic, timeless and instantly recognisable, speed block will forever be associated with Yamaha and its highly successful GP campaigns from a very special era in the company’s history.

New R-Series World GP 60th Anniversary models
To celebrate Yamaha’s long and illustrious Grand Prix racing history, the company has created a World GP 60th Anniversary livery for the 2022 R1, R7, R3 and R125 models.

Just like Yamaha’s famous World Championship winning machinery, the World GP 60th Anniversary R1, R7, R3 and R125 feature pure white bodywork with a strong horizontal red stripe and white vertical lines creating the red speed block. This authentic race bike colour scheme features an all-red front fender and gold-coloured wheels just like winning Yamaha’s factory bikes, and this timeless look is completed with a yellow front number plate, an anniversary emblem and a red stripe running along the top of the fuel tank and the tail.

Since Yamaha made its GP debut in 1961, the company has achieved over 500 Grand Prix race wins with legendary riders including Read, Ivy, Saarinen, Agostini, Roberts, Lawson, Rainey, Lorenzo and Rossi, and more recently Quartararo – and these historic racing colours highlight the connection between Yamaha’s race bikes and every R-Series model.

Production of the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary has started

Production of the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary, the numbered series motorcycle that Ducati has built to pay homage to the legendary career of Troy Bayliss twenty years after his conquest of the 2001 Superbike World Championship, has begun at the Borgo Panigale factory. Starting from October the bike will be available in the Ducati network dealerships.

This unique model immediately entered the hearts of Troy fans around the world. In fact, since the first days after the presentation at the WSBK race in Assen, the bike has been ordered by many fans, already covering a large part of the production for the coming months.

Presented in an episode of the 2022 Ducati World Première that featured Troy Bayliss as a protagonist, the “Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary” version is made starting from the base of the Panigale V2 and is characterized by the celebratory livery, whose graphics are inspired by those of the 996 R which in the 2001 season powered the Australian rider to the first of his three world titles, revisiting its colours and cuts. Ducati red is the main colour of the bike and joins green and white in a tribute to the Italian character of the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer, while the iconic #21, Troy Bayliss’ race number, and the Shell logo, which visually strengthen the link with the racing bike, stand out on the sides and the front. Troy’s autograph is reproduced on the fuel tank, while the billet aluminium triple clamp shows the name of the bike and the progressive numbering of this unique model.

To make the bike even more effective in track riding, Ducati has chosen to equip the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary with Öhlins components. The NX30 front fork and TTX36 rear shock absorber guarantee maximum smoothness and are designed to achieve the best performance on track, with a set-up that makes the bike more precise and offers the rider greater feeling and greater support in all riding phases. The steering damper, thanks to the adjustments it is equipped with, allows you to customize its calibration by adapting it to the riding style and the characteristics of the circuit.

Compared to the standard version, the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary is also 3 kg lighter, thanks to the adoption of a lithium-ion battery and the choice of the single-seater configuration that explicitly recalls the look of the racing bike (passenger seat and footrests are available in the supplied equipment).

The equipment is completed by the sport grips, the silencer outlet cover in carbon fibre and titanium and the rider seat made by combining two different technical materials with double red stitching. Troy’s number 21 is embroidered on the saddle in white, and together with the two vertical green and red bands, makes up the Italian flag.

On the Ducati.com website there is all the information about the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary, while the dynamic video of the bike is available below and on the Ducati YouTube channel.

Michelin confirmed as MotoGP tyre supplier until 2026

The legendary French marque will remain the official, sole tyre supplier of the premier class from 2024-2026

Dorna Sports is pleased to confirm a new three-year contract extension with Michelin that will see the legendary French firm continue as the sole, official tyre supplier to MotoGP™ until at least 2026. The new three-year agreement will see the partnership between Michelin and MotoGP™ reach the milestone of a decade racing together.

Michelin, based in Clermont-Ferrand in France, became the sole tyre supplier to MotoGP™ in 2016. The premier class of motorcycle Grand Prix racing has since enjoyed some of the closest competition in history, creating a true golden era. Records are routinely broken, with the ten closest top 15 finishes of all-time all set since 2018, four of which are from 2021.

As part of the agreement, the Michelin brand will also continue to be featured trackside at each event and will be the title sponsor of a Grand Prix each season.

Florent Ménégaux, CEO of Michelin: “We are very happy with the results we’ve obtained since Michelin’s return to MotoGP, and today we have, logically, extended our partnership with Dorna Sports. We are particularly proud of the technological progress made with our products, as well as the many records broken together with our partners. This Championship offers fans a captivating spectacle, and it’s accessible via digital platforms unparalleled in motorsport. Being a partner of MotoGP therefore represents a valuable opportunity for Michelin to engage the public and players across the discipline in its vision, brand, tyres and innovation. For Michelin, motorsport is a laboratory that encourages the transfer of its expertise and sustainable solutions for the benefit of everyone. ”

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports: “We’re very proud to continue our partnership with Michelin until at least 2026. Michelin has been a vital partner for MotoGP since it became the tyre supplier to the premier class in 2016, helping us to create one of the greatest eras of competition in motorcycle Grand Prix racing history. I’m delighted that we will reach a decade of collaboration and I hope we can continue building on this incredible foundation together. This agreement is fantastic news for all of us in the Championship.”

Travel Like a Pro with SW Motech

Holding a massive 65 litres of kit and able to fit on almost any motorcycle, SW-Motech’s new PRO Travelbag adds serious carrying capability, without the need for multiple bags, bulky hard luggage or unsightly racking.

Designed to fit on almost any bike in minutes, the PRO Travelbag has a specially-shaped, anti-slip underside, which sits on the passenger seat. It’s then secured using four heavy-duty straps, featuring SW-Motech’s patented lashing hooks.

The straps are super quick and easy to use: attach one end to a suitable mounting point on the bike, clip the lashing hook to the eyelet, and then set the tension. Any excess strap length can be secured with the built-in Velcro® fastener. This allows the bag to be used on different motorcycles.

Once set, the bag is removed and reattached in seconds: simply pull on the red drawstring to release the hooks from each eyelet and it’s free; the straps stay on the bike ready for the bag to be clipped back in place again.

Built to last, the PRO Travelbag is made from a durable and UV-resistant 1680D Ballistic Nylon, originally designed for military use, with a splash-proof inner lining.

The huge 65-litre capacity is split between a spacious main compartment and two handy side pockets, with waterproof zippers.

The top features an overlapping lid that allows easy access, and helps protect contents from the weather. A waterproof inner bag is also included, providing extra protection for valuable contents.

There are two separate mesh compartments inside the lid, and a further mesh compartment in the lid to the main compartment below, for storing smaller items and keeping things like travel documents separate and easily accessed.

All external zips are designed to be easily operated with gloved hands, and each one has an elasticated loop to prevent the zip pulls from flapping in the wind.

MOLLE attachments in strong hypalon material feature on the top and front of the bag, for fastening additional SW-Motech bags, and three robust carrying handles and a detachable shoulder strap make it easy to carry off the bike too

The SW-Motech PRO Travelbag retails at £257 including VAT.

It comes with a waterproof inner bag, four loop straps with lashing hooks, a shoulder strap, lashing eyes for attaching to the number plate holder, protective foil for the bike’s bodywork and full mounting instructions

iPhone’s Motorcycle Vibration Issue. The Solution is Already Here

Apple release a statement declaring that “Exposure to vibrations, like those generated by high-powered motorcycle engines, might impact iPhone cameras”

This prompted a tidal wave of articles across tech and motorcycle publishers and saw a dramatic increase in Google searches for “iPhone vibration”. Likely from panicking riders that use a smartphone mount on their motorbike to navigate their journey.

But there’s a number of users that are already well aware of this issue, with no cause for concern as they already have the solution, thanks to Quad Lock’s Vibration Dampener.
Released in October 2020, Quad Lock’s Vibration Dampener has been widely praised for its success protecting iPhone cameras from harmful vibrations.

The team at Quad Lock worked stringently to “understand, design, develop and then test a Vibration Dampening solution that gives riders complete confidence in mounting all new model smartphones to any motorcycle.”

More than 500 Quad Lock customers were involved in a user trial before its release and the Vibration Dampener was put through extreme performance testing with award-winning engineers and scientists specialising in vibration technology for transport, defence and infrastructure.

Featuring a dual chassis suspension system with precision engineered silicone grommets, the Vibration Dampener absorbs vibrations to protect your smartphone’s camera.

Compatible with all Quad Lock Motorcycle Mounts and the Quad Lock Motorcycle USB Charger, the Quad Lock Vibration Dampener reduces over 90% of high frequency vibrations produced by motorcycles.

What started out as an iPhone Bike Mount on Kickstarter back in 2011, the Quad Lock® range has expanded into a full suite of options, with the motorcycle category becoming an increasing part of the Quad Lock community. The release of the Quad Lock® Vibration Dampener is simply the latest in this long line of impressive products.
