Avon Tyres have been selected as original equipment (OE) for two new limited edition motorcycles from Associated British Motorcycles (ABM).

The Gemini Indianapolis and Naked machines were unveiled at the recent Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show and feature Avon’s 3D Ultra Sport and TrailRider tyres.

Doug Ross, Global Head of Motorcycle Sales at Avon Tyres, said, “We are extremely proud to be chosen as the OE tyre fitment for these two eye-catching high performance machines. Avon’s 3D Ultra Sport and TrailRider tyres perfectly complement the power and performance of the Gemini Twins.”

Tony Scott, founder of ABM said, “The Gemini Twins suit our entry into the marketplace perfectly. They are British, they are inspired and they are edgy, creating a buying opportunity for those looking for something very special. We are delighted to supply these British bikes with Avon tyres, which have been manufactured in Britain for over 100 years.”

New KATANA set to headline London Motorcycle Show

Suzuki’s new KATANA is set to headline the forthcoming Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show, where it will be displayed for the first time in the capital alongside a stunning original 1981 machine.

Hosted at the ExCeL in London’s Royal Victoria Dock from 15-17 February, the new KATANA – which is an evolution of the 1980s icon – will take centre stage. Set to arrive in the UK in the spring, the KATANA is heavily influenced by the original but is based around a thoroughly modern chassis and engine package. It also gets a three-mode traction control system, low-RPM assist, and Suzuki’s easy-start function.

Also catching the eyes of visitors will be a Buildbase Suzuki GSX-R1000R race replica, with the limited edition machine – one of only 50 produced – coming with an assortment of Yoshimura components and Suzuki Genuine accessories, including engine case savers, brake and clutch lever guards, paddock stand bobbins, double bubble screen, pillion seat cowl, tank protector and fuel cap trim, plus a Yoshimura R11 exhaust and mirror blanks ready for track use. In addition, customers will also receive an Ogio kit bag, paddock stand, bike cover and GSX-R garage mat.

From Suzuki’s adventure range will be the V-Strom 650XT, which is currently available with a complimentary top box, while the Japanese brand’s street bike range will be represented by the SV650 and GSX-S1000, plus the learner-friendly GSX-S125 which is currently available on Suzuki’s 2,3,4 campaign, which allows customers to choose the term and APR to match their agreement. Also on display from Suzuki’s small capacity lineup will be the GSX-R125, which is available on the same offer.

Suzuki’s scooter range is represented by the Burgman 400 maxi-scooter and Address – which is currently available with low-rate 3% APR over three years with a minimum £300 deposit.

The RM-Z450, which won the 2018 British Motocross Championship and is the reigning Arenacross title-winning machine, will be displayed alongside the new KingQuad 750 ATV to showcase Suzuki’s off-road range.

On the classic front, Suzuki is also bringing along the original Bandit 600 – which was restored to showroom condition by Suzuki apprentices at the marque’s state of the art training centre in Doncaster – as well as Kevin Schwantz’s 1989 Pepsi Suzuki RGV500, a nod to the firm’s heritage and industry-leading Vintage Parts Programme.

As always, one of the biggest attractions was the multitude of new machines from 24 of the world’s leading manufacturers, including Aprilia, BMW, Brough, CCM, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Herald, Honda, Husqvarna, Indian, Kawasaki, KTM, Llexeter, Moto Corsa, Moto Morini, MP3, Mutt Motorcycles, Norton, Piaggio, Suzuki, Triumph (who used the show to give the Speed Triple its worldwide public debut), Vespa, Yamaha and Zero Motorcycles.

23-time Isle of Man TT winner John McGuinness gave fans a place away from the hustle and bustle with his own pub, where the Road Racing legend kept them entertained by pulling pints and telling tales from his incredible career.

Taking over the centre of the show, the all-new Michelin Thunderdrome proved a huge success as visitors made the most of the free display and see the likes of Carl Fogarty, Neil Hodgson, Chris Walker and James Whitham go head-to-head with the young guns of Richard Cooper, Lee Jackson and Tom and Tim Neave around the special boardtrack inspired course. Race fans had plenty to keep them entertained elsewhere as six teams from the British Superbike Championship used the event to unveil their 2018 liveries. Buildbase Suzuki kicked off the day, followed by OMG Suzuki, FS-3 Racing Kawasaki, McAMS Yamaha, Tyco BMW and JG Speedfit Kawasaki.

The Adventure Village was also a hive of activity, with famous faces such as Nick Sanders and Elspeth Beard, the first UK woman to ride around the world, taking to the stage. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force, a team of motorcyclists launched Round the Outside – a 4,200 mile, 3 week ride around the coastline of Great Britain to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Jimmy Aird, Owner of Scott Leathers “It’s been an excellent opening day, probably the best we’ve ever experienced at the show. We may be the only ‘made to measure’ leather brands here so obviously people are looking for something different. There’s been a big crowd in for a Friday for sure, it’s been unbelievable really.”

Visitors to the show were also able to take advantage of a range of ‘biking bargains’ with over 180 exhibitors showcasing their latest products.

The 2018 Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show continues Saturday and Sunday, with tickets available on the day. For more information, visit www.mcnmotorcycleshow.com or call 0844 873 7346.

KTM 2018: London Calling

See, sit and selfie on the 2018 KTM Street range at the MCN London Motorcycle Show

Doors open to the MCN London Motorcycle Show from February 16-18 and KTM will be there with a large display of its 2018 range – including the all-new KTM 790 DUKE – along with a selection of KTM Factory Racing machines.
The annual show, held at ExCeL in the East London Docklands area, marks the eve of the ‘traditional’ Street riding season, making it the perfect opportunity to get up close and behind the bars of the exciting 2018 KTM range.
Due to arrive at UK dealers in late March, the completely new KTM 790 DUKE (£8,499) is set to inject fresh levels of excitement, technology and style into the naked middleweight market. Powered by the new 799cc LC8c parallel twin engine – punching out 105hp and 86nm – the new Duke is also armed with the most comprehensive array of electronic rider systems, including cornering ABS, lean-angle sensitive Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) along with four different ride modes; a Quickshifter+ system, Launch Control and KTM MY RIDE smart phone connectivity.
The infamous 1290 SUPER DUKE R (£14,299) received a massive overhaul last year and The Beast 2.0 is arguably the benchmark for performance and electronics systems in the super naked class. With street presence like no other, its distinctive and aggressive appearance is matched by relentless power – incredibly addictive for those who are Beast Enough…
Taking The Beast further and faster is the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE GT (£15,999). Redefining the sports tourer class, this bike masters the seemingly impossible split between passionate fun riding, comfortable long distance travelling and breath-taking track day use. For 2018, it gets two new colours and graphics options.
Starting from £11,599 to £14,899, the four-strong KTM Adventure range presents riders with a choice of high-performance, heart-racing machines capable of creating unforgettable memories wherever and however the road leads. The 1090 ADVENTURE, 1090 ADVENTURE R, 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R and 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S are always ready and backed up with a huge array of official PowerParts to be tailored to individual needs.
Boasting new graphics for 2018, the 690 DUKE (£7,999) is the world’s most powerful single-cylinder bike with a revised motor to offer improved levels of power and torque over a larger powerband delivered with smoothness usually reserved for multi-cylinders. Adding to its class-leading low weight and low running costs, this Duke is equally at home commuting through town as it is slaying corners on favourite roads or tracks.
For young, new or returning riders looking for machines with exhilarating performance, exciting looks and high-end components matched to lightweight and confidence-building chassis, look no further than the freshly revised KTM 125 DUKE (£4,199) and 390 DUKE (£4,699). Made to the same demanding READY TO RACE commitment as their bigger brothers, these ‘mini beasts’ more than earn the right to be dubbed a DUKE.
For the racers at heart, the supersports KTM RC 125 (£4,399) and RC 390 (£5,199) combine class-leading levels of performance and components with everyday comfort. READY TO RACE from every traffic light, these fully-faired fighters are equally at home commuting or carving up corners.
The FREERIDE 250 F (£6,599) is a completely new model, with the ability to explore demanding and unknown off-road terrain, while performing with low noise levels and a confidence-inspiring power delivery combined with a comfortable, low seat height and weighing just 99kg. This bike is the ultimate all-rounder for fun trails, Trials and Enduro.
The powerful and agile electric KTM FREERIDE E-XC is better than ever. Powered by a state-of-the-art electric motor with a peak of 18 kW fitted into a re-designed composite frame, updated WP Suspension and a 50% increased KTM PowerPack that now provides one and a half hours of riding time.
KTM Factory Racing machines of MXGP champion Antonio Cairoli, the Dakar-winning 450 Rally of Matthias Walkner, Pol Espargaro’s MotoGP RC 16 and Johnny Walker’s 300 EXC Extreme Enduro slayer, will be on the main KTM stand alongside Croydon-based KTM dealer, InMoto, operating a retail area selling clothing and accessory items from the latest PowerWear range.
Billed as ‘the biggest and best motorcycle show in the capital’, the London Motorcycle Show also offers visitors a huge array of other attractions and live action entertainment for a great day out.

Also commanding attention at the show will the GSX-R1000 that won the Senior TT on the Isle of Man last year, in the hands of Michael Dunlop. Triumph wins Best Manufacturer Experience at Motorcycle Live

Triumph has won Best Manufacturer Experience at Motorcycle Live for the second year running after another successful showing at the NEC, Birmingham last November.

Visitors to the Triumph stand highlighted its knowledgable and friendly staff alongside the running of the Moto2 test engine as reasons it stood out against the competition.

Martin Hough, Triumph Marketing Manager, UK & Ireland, said: “It is great to win this award for the second year running and is a credit to everyone working at the show. We certainly made a noise with the running of the Moto2 engine, but it is more pleasing that the passion and dedication of our staff shone through. We look forward to welcoming fans to the Triumph stand at the MCN London show next month.”

Check out the Triumph Motorcycles stand (M45) at the MCN London Motorcycle Show from 16-18 February at the Excel Centre.
