Motorex launches new range of air filters

Motorex – the Swiss oil and lubricant supplier – has launched a new range of off-road air filters designed to fit most motocross and enduro machines from leading manufacturers.

The washable foam air filters come pre-oiled with Motorex’s Bio Power Air Filter Oil – itself developed by the firm’s racing lab in conjunction with Twin Air – and fit machines from Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM, Husqvarna, plus Gas Gas and Sherco. The filters can also be cleaned using Motorex’s Bio Dirt Remover.

Motorex – with its reputation for high quality products – is already synonymous with motorcycle sport, especially in off-road circles as the lubricant supplier of choice for KTM, Husqvarna, and Kawasaki factory teams in MXGP. Motorex oils also gave the top-five finishers at this year’s Dakar the reliability needed to complete the world’s toughest race.

Derek McMartin, managing director for Bickers – the importer and distributor of Motorex in the UK – commented, ““Motorex is known, globally, for its attention to detail and the quality of its products, whether that’s oil for a high-stress racing engine or its cleaning products. Every product must do the task it was designed for and do it well, and that extends to the new range of air filters that bear the Motorex name.”

Prices range from £14.32 – £15.12 for the new filters, and can be purchased through Motorex retailers.

Wunderlich Put 1250 GS Behind Bars

Discreet, lightweight and very tough, Wunderlich’s new Stainless Engine Bars for the latest generation R 1250 GS and Adventure offer protection without adding excess width or weight.

Low speed and static tumbles are not only embarrassing, they can be very expensive; a damaged engine casing, cylinder head or valve cover can disrupt or even halt a journey, and can be incredibly costly to fix.

Wunderlich’s new Engine Bars are made from 25mm stainless steel tubing, a diameter specifically chosen to give maximum strength for minimum weight. Precision-shaped on CNC bending machines, they are then cleanly welded in moulds for accuracy and a consistent joint.

Attached via mountings to existing points on the frame, for uniform force distribution, the engine bars are designed to follow the contours of the Boxer engine closely, so they won’t compromise ground clearance or cornering ability, and allow full access for maintenance and servicing.

A central mount acts as a pivot point during a fall, and each side has integrated valve cover protection.

Wunderlich Stainless Engine Bars for the latest-generation R1250 GS and GS Adventure models are available in ‘standard’ Stainless finish – which is glass bead blasted and electro-polished for corrosion resistance and a long life, as well as Black, HP Blue and White versions, which are all powder coated. They retail at £259.00 per set, including VAT.

They are available from Wunderlich’s exclusive UK partner www.nippynormans.com

Sitting Pretty With Venhill

Motorcycle control specialists, Venhill, are adding replacement Seat Release Cables for popular sports and sports touring bikes to their fitment list.

Overlooked by many riders, Seat Release Cables can stay unchecked and unlubricated for weeks, months and even years, leaving them prone to failure.

Although it can sound trivial, a broken or failed cable can prevent access to battery and fuses and leave essential items, like tools, locks or possibly phone or house keys, trapped under the seat, just when needed most.

An upgrade to the standard fitment, replacement cables feature Venhill’s high quality Featherlight cabling: marine-grade stainless steel inner wire for minimum stretch and a teflon liner, to reduce friction. Like all Featherlight cables, they are ‘maintenance free’ and do not require lubrication.

The cables are ‘Bird-caged’ – a special process applied to the end of the inner wire, which allows solder to penetrate the weave of the cable, making the bond with the nipple much stronger. This process adds extra strength and durability, so cables can withstand being put under repeated stress and pressure

The new cables are currently available for the following models. More are being added:

Yamaha

  • FZS600 1998-2003
  • MT07 2014-2018
  • FJR1300 2006-2018

Kawasaki

  • ER5 2001-2006
  • ER6F 2006-2008
  • KLE650 2007-2010
  • ZX-6R 2003-2004, 2005-2006, 2007-2008 and 2009-2012
  • ZX-6RR 2003-2004 and 2005-2006
  • ZX-10R 2008-2010 and 2011-2015

Prices start from £8.70 including VAT.

For any bikes not listed, customers can send the original damaged cable to Venhill, who will then produce a working replica. Call 01306 885111 or visit www.venhill.co.uk for more information.

BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team Choose All-new HM Quickshifter-Auto Blipper For 2019

The SMR run BMW Motorrad WorldSBK squad of Tom Sykes and Markus Reiterberger have chosen the all-new HM Quickshifter-Auto Blipper for the upcoming 2019 World Superbike season. Running on the brand new BMW S1000RR, the cutting-edge unit will provide the team with more accurate and consistent gearshifts as well as being fully adjustable for sensitivity. It is now also the official product recommended by BMW Motorrad.

The new-look BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team of Tom Sykes and Markus Reiterberger kicked off their 2019 World Superbike campaign earlier this week with a test on the all-new BMW S1000RR at Jerez. Alongside giving the new machine its 2019 debut, the duo also became the first World Superbike team to utilise the new HM Quickshifter-Auto Blipper.

Developed as a direct replacement for a traditional ‘up and down’ Quickshifter, which in many cases can be unreliable, the HM unit utilises an ultra-sensitive Strain Gauge; meaning no moving parts that could cause a mechanical failure. Providing both riders with more accurate, slicker and consistent gearshifts will enable them to drop lap times knowing exactly what their gear changes will be like, lap after lap. The unit is also fully adjustable for sensitivity, meaning the riders can set it up exactly to their preference. Alongside being a technical partner to BMW Motorrad, the new HM Quickshifter-Auto Blipper has been chosen as an official recommended product for the S1000RR.

The Quickshifter-Auto Blipper made its racing debut last season, helping power fellow BMW rider Keith Farmer to the prestigious Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship title. The unit was also successfully used by the Mototech Yamaha Endurance World Championship team as well as the Reactive Parts Ducati V4S raced by Steve Heneghan at the Macau Grand Prix.

It is not just top race teams who will notice the benefit of the Quickshifter-Auto Blipper however, as road riders will also notice a more accurate feel going both up and down the gearbox. Developed as a simple ‘plug and play’ device, it fits directly into the existing Quickshifter port on modern Superbikes and is suitable for both road or race gear patterns as well as both standard and aftermarket rearsets.

HM Quickshifter General Manager Ben Varley explained “We’re really excited that the BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team has chosen to use our HM Quickshifter-Auto Blipper for their 2019 season. We proved last year that it can help riders not only cut those all-important lap times but also provide them with reliable, predictable gearshifts lap after lap.

With two world class riders and the brand new BMW S1000RR, we’re sure it will be a fantastic season for the team and look forward to celebrating their success!”

New clutch kit program from SBS

The new clutches from SBS Friction A/S are developed to match a wide range of models from the 70s and up. The program covers all kind of bikes from sport, street and touring to off-road and cross.

Product Manager Claus Rønnemoss, SBS: “It has been extremely important for us to make a simple program where it is easy to choose the right clutches. Therefore, we have made an easy item structure, an easy to use catalogue and it is always easy to find the right clutches for almost any bike online at sbs.dk”

CSO Christel Munk Pedersen, SBS continues: “SBS is known for the high quality brake pad program and of course the clutch kits are developed ensuring high performance, lifetime and comfort. From being a brake pad manufacturer we now see ourselves as a complete brake system supplier as we not only offer brake pads, but brake discs, brake shoes, brake pins and now also clutches in our product range.”

The program consist of standard and upgrade clutch friction plates, steel plates and standard and upgrade single plates dry clutches. The standard version is always an OE replacement, whereas the upgrade version is made from materials offering improved performance.

The standard clutch friction plates are made of organic friction materials and resistant to stress and overheating, whereas the upgraded version is made from carbon/paper materials and is very reliable on race tracks.

The standard single plates dry clutches are made from organic friction materials and the upgrade version from para-aramid synthetic fibers, thereby ensuring a higher friction coefficient and no damage by overheating or if covered in oil.

All steel plates are made from special wear and deformation resistant steel and have the same dimensions and thickness as the OE product.

The complete clutch kit program is now part of the SBS product range.

Akrapovič Makes Colin Edwards Its First Two Wheel Brand Ambassador

Akrapovič has the great honour of announcing that its first-ever world champion, Colin Edwards, has been made its inaugural two-wheel brand ambassador, and that he will continue the story and relationship that has seen him become an important part of the company’s history.

Akrapovič has the great honour of announcing that its first-ever world champion, Colin Edwards, has been made its inaugural two-wheel brand ambassador, and that he will continue the story and relationship that has seen him become an important part of the company’s history. This honour has been bestowed on Edwards in recognition of the American’s achievement in winning the WorldSBK Championship in 2000 on his Akrapovič-equipped Honda and becoming the first person to claim a world title for the Slovenian company. Edwards repeated his championship success in 2002, and his initial triumph led the way to Akrapovič now having over 100 world champions in many disciplines.

Edwards is the first motorcycle racer to be honoured as an Akrapovič brand ambassador, and his involvement is extremely meaningful for the company’s #TrustedByChampions ethos because not only did he use Akrapovič exhausts in his WorldSBK championship seasons, but he also raced for different manufacturers in MotoGP – most of which used Akrapovič exhaust systems – along with twice winning the prestigious Suzuka 8 hours on an Akrapovič-equipped Honda. Edwards continued to race with Akrapovič until he retired from the pinnacle of the sport in 2014. His input, involvement, and knowledge of Akrapovič on different machinery in varying disciplines is second to none, and his constant involvement and success with the brand further cements the bond between Edwards and Akrapovič.

Akrapovič looks forward to Edwards and the #TrustedByChampions ethos communicating the advantages of the company’s products in 2019, including aspects of performance, weight, durability, innovations, and much more, all of which the American has experienced in his career, and so he knows better than most the benefits that can be reaped in racing with an Akrapovič exhaust. His involvement in his own motorcycle school, the Texas Tornado Boot Camp in the US, as well as many other TV, personal, and sports appearances throughout the race season, places him in a perfect position to convey the benefits of Akrapovič to a wider audience.

More of what Edwards will be doing as an Akrapovič brand ambassador will be announced in the new year, but so far he has visited Akrapovič HQ in Ivančna Gorica and the production facilities in Črnomelj. His first official appearance as an Akrapovič brand ambassador was as a surprise guest at the Akrapovič New Year’s get-together for all the employees of the company, where he was a very welcome and popular visitor. During this latest visit to Akrapovič in his new role, Edwards was honoured by the company because it named one of its conference rooms after him. He unveiled a special commemorative plaque with Igor Akrapovič in honour of his achievements while using Akrapovič exhausts throughout his career and becoming the company’s first-ever world champion.

Colin Edwards, Akrapovič Brand Ambassador:

“It’s an honour to be an Akrapovič brand ambassador. When I came here a few months ago, I was very impressed with what I saw at the factories. Akrapovič is a top-level company that’s good to be associated with. Everything is top level, from the workshop on. It’s good to be associated with a product that’s the best and easy to understand. It’s an honour and a pleasure to have a room named after me and to be part of the company. We’re planning many things to promote the brand. It will be a fun adventure.”

Igor Akrapovič, Akrapovič Company Founder and Owner:

“It’s very special to have the first Akrapovič brand ambassador from the two-wheeled world, and it’s extremely fitting that it’s Colin. It was such a significant moment in the history of the company when he won the world championship with us in 2000. I remember doing a huge amount of testing on his bike because Honda kept developing the engine and we had to update the exhaust every time. We worked really hard to get what they needed – I think it was more than forty modifications – but it’s part of our DNA to get the best, so the harder they worked us the more it paid off, and together Colin, Honda, and we won the championship. Akrapovič is pleased to have him as part of the family, and we look forward to working with him.”

Take Control With Vario Levers

A revolution in ergonomics, Wunderlich Vario Levers are now available to fit the BMW R 1250 GS, putting the control back in the hands of the rider, with precise two-way adjustment for comfort, control and safety in all conditions.

Unlike other brake and clutch levers, Wunderlich Vario Levers are adjustable for both reach and length, allowing the rider to tailor clutch and brake control to suit his/her hand size, style of riding and the road.

Vario Levers allow precise operation of the clutch and brake with two or three fingers, without pinching the remaining finger/s.

A generous 12.7mm (0.5in) of reach adjustment is possible, however it feels like more – unlike most OE levers, the blade is shaped to sit parallel to the handlebar.

The reach can also be adjusted while riding – useful when dealing with a changing pressure point, when riding on the track or negotiating a technical, twisty route – thanks to the unique adjustment wheel, which is easy to operate, even with thick winter gloves.

Length adjustment is quickly and easily carried out by loosening the set screw, selecting the desired length, and re-tightening.

Each Vario Lever is machined from anodized aluminium, with all materials and processes conforming to aircraft standards, tested and approved to the strict German TÜV.

They’re also tough and even fully extended can withstand a force of over 130 pounds.

Wunderlich Vario Levers for the BMW R 1250 GS retail at £109.00 each, including VAT and are available for most models of BMW, including F series, K series and R series machines .They’re available through Wunderlich’s Exclusive Partner in the UK www.nippynormans.com

HM Quickshifter-Autoblipper Developed For Latest ‘Smart’ Superbikes

HM Quickshifter, the world-renowned leader in gear shift technology, has developed a cutting edge ‘Quickshift-Auto Blipper’ for the latest generation superbikes for more accurate and consistent gearshifts.

Although the system can have a significant effect on racetimes for both racers and trackday addicts, road riders can enjoy also a slicker, more accurate feel going both up and down the gearbox, shift after shift!

The HM Quickshifter Auto Blipper was proven in the red-hot competition of the Pirelli National Superstock Championship this year by the Tyco BMW team, helping Keith Farmer to a hard-fought title.

Developed as a direct replacement for bikes which have an ‘up and down’ quickshifter as original equipment, the HM version offers vast improvements over the OE fitment. The crucial difference is the use of an ultra-sensitive ‘strain gauge’, as opposed to the simple OE switch and spring.

The OE systems have in many cases been shown to be unreliable, whereas the HM unit has no moving parts for mechanical failure. Riders of all levels also report a lack of ‘feel’ for positive upshifts and downshifts losing much of the benefit of a quickshifter while the replacement HM unit is fully adjustable for sensitivity.

Developed to simply ‘plug and play’, the device fits directly into the existing Quickshifter port meaning the unit could not be easier to install. Suitable for both road or race (standard or reverse direction) gearshifting, it also fits both standard and aftermarket rearsets.

Alongside Tyco BMW, the HM Quickshifter- Auto Blipper has been successfully utilised by the Mototech Yamaha Endurance World Championship team and Steve Heneghan on his Reactive Parts Ducati V4S.

HM Quickshifter General Manager Ben Varley explained “We’re excited to be able to offer the benefits of HM Quickshifter ‘strain gauge’ technology to riders of the most sophisticated superbikes and exceed the qualities of the original equipment. Racers can save tenths every lap, trackday riders can concentrate on their lines whilst road riders can enjoy smoother gear changes and maximise their riding enjoyment, so it’s a ‘win-win’ for all types of riders!”

Available from £366 (inc VAT) the HM Quickshifter- Auto Blipper is available for the following machines with an ever-growing application list, to complement the full range of ‘normal’ HM Quickshifters:

BMW S1000RR (2015 on)

Ducati 1299 Panigale (2016 on)

Ducati V4 (2018 on)

Honda CBR1000RR (2017 on)

Kawasaki ZX10R (2017 on)

Suzuki GSXR1000R (2017 on)

Yamaha YZF-R1 (2017 on)

Frando Clutch Slaves Now In 2 Sizes

Frando now offer Clutch Slave Cylinders in two different lengths, so motorcycles with short and long clutch activation arms can be converted from cable-operated to hydraulic systems.

Converting a clutch from cable to hydraulic operation gives a lighter, smoother and maintenance-free operation. Fitting is relatively straightforward, with three main components;
Replacement clutch lever and master cylinder
Slave cylinder, which attaches to the clutch housing.
Hydraulic hose, which replaces the cable and connects the master cylinder to the slave.
When the clutch lever is pulled in, the hydraulic system pushes fluid down the hose to the slave cylinder at the opposite end, which then moves the arm that operates the clutch.

The Frando slave cylinder is compact – the main body measures just 24 x 55 mm – with a piston diameter of 12.7 mm and a 10 mm stroke. The piston stem on the short version is adjustable from 35-42 mm and from 56 – 63 mm on the long model, so they can be extended or shortened to sit perfectly on the clutch arm.

Modular in design, the Slave Cylinder attaches to a hydraulic hose via a standard m10 x 1.00 banjo bolt, with built-in bleed nipple for easy air removal, and can be used in conjunction with Frando’s 15 mm Clutch Master Cylinder or paired to other compatible systems.

The Frando Clutch Slave Cylinder retails at £105.12 including VAT and Venhill can supply high quality British-made hydraulic hoses to suit any bike or set-up. Call Venhill on 01306 885111 or visit www.venhill.co.uk for more information.

SBS Goes 100% NRS Safe

SBS Friction A/S secures a 100% safe brake pad program with mechanical bonding for both ceramic and sintered brake pads.

As the first manufacturer in the motorcycle industry, SBS last year succeeded in launching a sinter material for street brake pads using NRS technology for the SP program to the global aftermarket.

Now a new range of world leading road racing brake pads with NRS technology have been tested for a year and will be launched with a new Dynamic Racing Concept at EICMA in Milan beginning of November. Having herewith secured its position as the high standard in braking through design, quality, performance and durability this engagement further entrenches the SBS position of market leadership.
SBS Friction, the world’s leader in motorcycle brakes in the global aftermarket, has committed to going towards 100% NRS Safe throughout its brake product line. NRS Safe products exclusively use the NUCAP Retention System (NRS), the most advanced mechanical attachment technology with a zero failure rate in over 1 Billion units Worldwide.

“There is no room for error in motorcycle braking. By going 100% NRS Safe SBS is using the absolute best in mechanical attachment enabling its riders to feel confident that they are using the safest performing brakes available,” CSO SBS Friction A/S Christel Munk Pedersen says.

“The braking environment demands components that are capable of standing up to its violent vibration as well as incredible heating and cooling fluctuations. It is well known that traditional adhesives do not handle these extremes and are prone to failure leading to detachment. NRS Safe attachment is a mechanism that does not fail,” NUCAP CEO Montu Khokhar comments.

Scottoiler to release new Scorpion Dual Injector

As the global leaders in motorcycle chain lubrication we are continually striving for the next innovation, placing great importance on Research & Development.  As such we are delighted to announce the launch of a new Dual Injector dispenser compatible with all Scottoiler chain oilers and to be known as the “Scorpion”. The Scorpion will be presented for the first time at the Motorcycle Live Show in Birmingham.

The Scorpion Dual Injector is an accessory upgrade for all Scottoiler chain lubrication systems. The easy-to-fit and discreet twin feed provides enhanced oil delivery to both sides of your chain. Replacing the standard dispenser it works by feeding oil simultaneously to both faces of the sprocket through its unique twin feed pincer nozzles. This precise application ensures an even distribution of oil onto both sides of the chain via the sprocket. The more precise application can result in an even cleaner transmission, less oil use and increased intervals between refills.

The Scorpion uses our new Multiform Dispenser Mount, utilising high quality super-adhesive tape that sticks to all surfaces and provides an easy and effective solution for mounting the Scorpion. The new Multiform Dispenser Mount can be bent and cut in various ways giving the Scorpion the versatility to be fitted to nearly all swingarm types and in different orientations allowing for compatibility with a greater number of different makes and models.

In addition, the new mounting bracket can be easily adjusted, re-positioning the Scorpion pincer nozzles to accommodate chain adjustments. Once fitted to the bike the Multiform Dispenser Mount has adjustability for forward and rearward movement, this means as the chain is adjusted the Scorpion can be moved the same amount so that the nozzles always sit perfectly on the sprocket.

The Scorpion is supplied with small straight pincer nozzles as standard, giving a very neat and effective application. Also supplied are longer pincer nozzles that may be required for some bikes with toe guards such as the Honda Africa Twin.

Technical & Business Development Director, Chris Simpson commented,

“We are excited to be able to bring the Scorpion Dual Injector to the market. This accessory provides an upgrade for all Scottoiler systems, enhancing oil delivery through the precision of the dual feed. The new mounting bracket means it is super easy to fit and flexible enough to work with the majority of bikes, so it really is a great upgrade for Scottoiler customers.”

The Scorpion will retail at £24.99 and is available to pre-order now. It will also be available through our extensive distributor and dealer network worldwide. To find your nearest dealer click here.

Protect Your Signal With Click-N-Ride Quick-release Indicators

R&G has introduced CLICKnRIDE quick-release indicators to its range of unique products. The universal system works on almost any machine and is the perfect accompaniment to stop your indicators being damaged during a day of off-road “bush bashing” or on a track.

Any motorcyclist who regularly rides off-road or has crashed a road bike on a trackday knows that indicators are often one of the first items to be damaged. The new, R&G-distributed CLICKnRIDE quick-release indicators simply click in and out by hand in seconds, allowing riders to remove them and store them safely before heading out green laning, or on track.

The tried-and-tested indicators can be installed on virtually any bike and have no moving parts to wear out, ensuring CLICKnRIDE products are made to last. The 3D lens is ultra-sonically welded to provide a waterproof, seamless finish, whilst the socket features a Moisture Guard to keep out dirt and water. Having undergone extensive testing, each indicator is road legal and E-Marked. Spare parts are also available, as well as a hard-wearing carry pouch with individual sections for each indicator.

Prices start from £41.66 (excl. VAT) for a set of two and they are available now from R&G. For more info CLICK HERE.

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett added; “CLICKnRIDE have already proven to be very popular in Australia, where they originate, so we’re excited to be bringing them to a whole new audience here in the UK. The simple release system means riders can quickly unplug their indicators before heading off-road or on track and store them safely, ready for the ride home.”
