Quick Fit Tank Bag for Ducati DesertX

High quality, clip-on / ride-off tank bag from SW-Motech for Ducati’s new DesertX adventure bike.

Surprisingly spacious for its size, the PRO Micro is expandable from 3-5 litres and offers a handy spot to stash essentials like a smartphone, credit cards, change for tolls, documents and more, keeping pockets free and everything easily accessible.

The tough ballistic fabric and laminated EVA shell help the Micro keep its distinctive shape and the contents well-protected. It has a water resistant interior coating and comes with a separate rain cover for serious downpours.

Mesh compartments keep smaller items inside separated, and the large flap and glove-friendly zip pulls make access quick and easy – the zips feature a padlock loop for added security. A magnetic guide, developed by Fidlock, steers the bag into position on the tank ring; the locking mechanism then clicks it firmly into place, for a fuss-free fit every time – it can even be done one-handed.

The pre-assembled top ring guide rail also allows for ergonomic adjustment of the Micro, so riders can tailor the bag’s position. SW-Motech have adapted their tank ring to suit the DesertX’s off-centre fuel filler cap, so it carries the Micro centrally and keeps the filler cap free too – the bike can be refuelled with the bag in place.

Akrapovič Unveils Technical Partnership with GASGAS Factory Racing Trial Team

Akrapovič is pleased to announce that it has expanded its cooperation with GASGAS Factory Racing for the forthcoming FIM X-Trial World Championship and FIM TrialGP World Championship this season.

The partnership is the culmination of months of close work between Akrapovič engineers in Slovenia and GASGAS technicians, team riders Jaime Busto and Sondre Haga, and GASGAS Factory Racing team manager Albert Cabestany to produce a thick titanium header that delivers impressive performance gains allied to a 40% weight saving in comparison to the previous version. This new trial header will now feature on Busto and Haga’s GASGAS TXT GP 300 machines in this season’s world championships, with the opening round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship taking place this coming weekend in Spain.

This exciting collaboration will see Akrapovič further extend its involvement in some of the world’s most demanding disciplines in two-wheel motorsport, with GASGAS Factory Racing already using Akrapovič exhaust technology in the FIM Motocross World Championship, FIM SuperEnduro, FIM Hard Enduro, FIM EnduroGP World Championships, and FIM World Rally-Raid Championship. Offroad prototype Touratech R 1250 GS RR

With the radical prototype R 1250 GS RR, Touratech shows the off-road potential of BMW‘s current boxer GS. Equipped with a 21-inch front wheel, electronic suspension and protector set, the “RR” has already proven itself in demanding terrain

Extremely versatile and really good in all disciplines – with this recipe for success, the current generation of the Boxer-GS has dominated the top class of touring enduros for over 40 years. The Touratech Suspension Team and the developers at Touratech have now been tempted to turn the generalist into a specialist and to exploit the maximum off-road potential of the current GS. The result: the spectacular Touratech R 1250 GS RR.

Off-road without compromise
Indispensable for directional stability in difficult terrain, a 21-inch front wheel forms the heart of this radical off-road conversion. The Touratech team with Lars Würdemann as suspension specialist stored for this a high-strength Excel rim with the original hub. „Since we spoke inwards – as on a Sportenduro – and the nipples had to sit on the rim, we needed special adapters for the hub. That was a lot of work, but the enormous stiffness of the 21-inch front wheel proved us right,“ says Würdemann, describing the challenges.

Standard components complete the enduro concept
As suspension elements, Touratech relies on the latest generation of electronic components from the Touratech Suspension Plug & Travel EVO range in the extra-long version for the R 1250 GS RR. These special shocks are available for the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure or the R 1250 GS with sports suspension in the same configuration on request for end customers. The premium suspension elements in the touring setup are available immediately from the web store.

Numerous other parts from the extensive Touratech product range round off the off-road prototype. The adjustable shift and foot brake levers allow perfect adaptation to the standing driving style. Folding levers for the front brake and clutch minimize the risk of breakage, and the handlebar fittings are given solid protection by the high-strength aluminium brackets of the Defensa protectors.

To achieve the smallest possible overall width for narrow passages, the off-road pros dispensed the engine guard and instead relied on the Touratech aluminium valve cover protectors. The underside of the Boxer is protected from damage by the „Rally“ engine guard made of hydroformed aluminium.

Proven in practice
After extensive testing by the suspension team and use in scouting the Adventure Country Tracks UK (ACT UK) by Touratech CMO Martin Wickert, Touratech put the R 1250 GS RR in the hands of Kevin Gallas. The hard enduro specialist, who has taken out top placings on numerous extreme enduros and has also successfully conquered the legendary Erzberg, took part in the Transitalia Marathon (TIM) with the conversion.

For the tricky navigation through the mountains of the Apennines, the RR received a navigation tower equipped with roadbook holder, tripmaster and GPS device. Kevin was more than enthusiastic about the performance of the GS conversion: „In the off-road area, the front wheel and the road grip were great to assess, and you had great reserves even at high speeds and jumps, as well as on off-road sections and in stone fields,“ sums up the enduro crack.

Valuable findings for the series
The Touratech R 1250 GS RR will remain an unsellable one-off that will be used at selected events. The experience gained will benefit Touratech customers in the form of the semi-active suspension elements in the Touratech Suspension Plug & Travel EVO range and numerous other products available immediately.

More KTM models added to GBRacing’s growing product range

The 890 LC8c parallel-twin engine features in the 890 Duke and the 890 Duke R. NEW SW-Motech Variable Bar Backs

Dial-in day-long comfort with SW-Motech’s new Variable Bar Backs, which allow handlebars to be set to seven different positions in seconds.

Bringing welcome relief from ‘one size fits all’ riding positions, Bar Backs allow handlebars to be pulled back or moved forwards by up to 35 mm – in 5 mm increments – so riders of different shapes and sizes can find their most comfortable position.

They also enable riders to adjust the bars to suit sport, touring and off-road riding.

Unlike fixed ‘up and overs’ or risers, the adjustment allows fine tuning of the upper body position, reducing aches and pains in the back, shoulders and wrist – particularly problematic on longer journeys.

Bar backs also come with a choice of 25, 28 or 30mm of rise for added comfort.

There’s no need to remove and remount the bars, or the Bar Backs themselves, to adjust: simply loosen the allen-key fixing, slide the handlebars to the required position and retighten to secure. Each 5mm increment is engraved into the side, so positioning can be clearly seen.

Their clever design means even the maximum amount of movement won’t affect steering or overstretch cables and hoses – or require the buying and fitting of replacements.

CNC-milled from high-strength aluminium alloy and anodized in a choice of Black, Silver and Anthracite finishes, they fit pretty much any bike with regular handlebar clamps and are available for 22, 28 and 32 mm diameter bars.

Specially developed Vibram sole
The Apex® sole, developed together with Vibram, offers functionality and comfort not only when riding but also when walking. It has different zones to fulfil different requirements. Waterproof thanks to Gore-Tex
Under the intelligent upper material mix of high-strength SuperFabric®, robust Omega leather, and supple nubuck, a Gore-Tex membrane guarantees absolute waterproofness with simultaneous breathability.

The microfibre lining, which ensures rapid moisture transport, also makes an important contribution to a pleasant foot climate.

The OrthoLite® X40 insole made of open-pored PU foam combines high cushioning values with the best breathability and can be washed when necessary.

GBRacing launches new protection for the Yamaha MT-09

GBRacing has released a full set of protective secondary engine covers for the latest generation Yamaha MT-09.

New engine architecture to give an increase in both cubic capacity and performance was a key part of the first major revision to the hugely popular Yamaha triple since its launch in 2013.

Yamaha’s 2021 revamp also afforded GBRacing the opportunity to produce a completely new engine cover set comprising of alternator, clutch, pulse and water pump covers.

The same 890cc three-cylinder engine is used in the FZ-09, Tracer and Scrambler, adding four new Yamaha models to GBRacing’s constantly expanding product range.

These new Yamaha models bring GBRacing’s total secondary engine cover range to over 140 models across 13 different manufacturers.

Constant development using data and lessons learned from world championship racing and investment in new engineering capabilities, together with advances in GBRacing’s patented composite, has delivered improvements in all areas of GBRacing secondary engine covers from durability and resilience to finish.

Having recently repurposed the original GBRacing factory in Barnet to specialise in hand-finishing smaller components to cope with increased customer demand, this is the first set of covers to be designed, prototyped and produced exclusively at GBRacing’s new purpose-built facility in Baldock, Hertfordshire, using the very latest, state-of-the-art five-axis CNC milling machines.

Rear Hugger Extension for BMW F900

Wunderlich’s Rear Hugger Extension for the BMW F900R and XR offers much needed extra protection against water, grit and grime thrown up by the rear tyre.

The F900’s very small standard rear hugger leaves the rear shock absorber and linkage, exhaust manifold, gearbox and subframe right in the rear tyre’s firing line, with messy and potentially costly results.

R&G Renews Partnership With California Superbike School UK

Relaunching last year with a new partnership with Kawasaki UK, the California Superbike School is going even bigger for 2022, announcing more dates across the country.  Crash protection specialist R&G is pleased to announce that it will once again be protecting the school’s fleet of green machines, providing a full range of products to protect the fleet while it’s in transit and also to minimise damage in the event of an accident.
