BSA is back in Bristol

Classic British motorcycle brand returns to Fowlers.

BSA Motorcycles make a welcome return to Fowlers spectacular city-centre showrooms in Bristol, after a gap of 50+ years.

Fowlers first started selling new BSAs in 1954 and the bikes were so popular that they became a spares distributor in 1959, but that ended when BSA ceased production in 1973.

Following the acquisition of BSA by Classic Legends in 2016, and the launch of the brand-new Gold Star in 2021, production has restarted, and Fowlers has become an official BSA dealer for Bristol once more.

Instantly recognisable as a BSA, the reborn Gold Star inherits the soul of its forerunners and combines it with modern technology, to deliver an authentic and reliable BSA riding experience. This modern classic is powered by a 45hp 650cc single-cylinder engine – a tribute to the original model – and is built using high quality components, such as Brembo brakes, with Continental dual channel ABS and Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres.

The addition of BSA brings the total number of manufacturers represented by Fowlers to sixteen, covering everything from scooters and commuters to superbikes and off-roaders, as well as two 100% electric brands.

Alongside new motorcycles, Fowlers also offers a huge selection of clothing and accessories. Routine servicing and maintenance is provided on site in Fowlers’ well-equipped workshops and visitors can refuel and relax in Harry’s Café on the mezzanine above the showroom floor.

Sunra partners with Lexham Insurance

Moto Electric, the sole UK distributor of the Sunra EV brand, has agreed a partnership with leading motorcycle and scooter insurance experts, Lexham Insurance, providing the official scheme for owners of the brand’s models.

Commencing with immediate effect, owners of the entire Sunra range can now benefit from preferential insurance rates from Lexham; leading specialists not only in scooter and small capacity motorcycles, but specifically for two-wheel EV models too.

Logan Black of Moto Electric, commented, “We’re very pleased to agree this partnership with Lexham. For us, establishing the brand in the UK isn’t just about bringing new products to the market, but ensuring we support both our customers and dealers as comprehensively as possible. Having a trusted insurance partner is an important part of this overall support, of which Lexham are incredibly well positioned for, thanks to their long-standing experience and great reputation for customer service too”.

With the Sunra range boasting five models, currently offering 50 and 125cc equivalents and with many customers based in urban areas, the team at Lexham have a panel of underwriters that aim to keep the cost of zero emission transport as competitive as possible.

Andy Goodson of Lexham Insurance, explained, “The EV market is of course relatively new to us all, and there are some misconceptions about risks both in terms of theft and in total loss situations. The reality is far more conventional and so we’ve been able to work with underwriters to look at rates from a real-world perspective. As such, we can offer Sunra owners a truly cost effective approach in general to their insurance cover.”

With Sunra products priced competitively to begin with, Insurance rates with Lexham are extremely competitive, making the switch to two-wheels for commuters even more compelling.

Silence To Hold First UK Test Ride Event At Bike Stop’s 40th Anniversary

The UK’s biggest noise in electric scooters will be running its first test ride event at day one of Bike Stop’s 40th anniversary celebrations, on 31st July.

With four decades in business, the Stevenage-based retail clothing and accessory store has always been a biker’s destination with its beautiful grade II listed building in Old Town and popular Café. 31st July kicks off a month of celebrations with special events and special guests joining to mark the anniversary in style.

Silence will be in good company at the event, debuting alongside trials bike legend Dougie Lampkin, who will be performing live riding through the store’s seven showrooms over two floors. Belstaff will also have its full 2021 motorcycle collection available to browse and buy.

Martin Brown, Bike Stop Managing Director commented: “We’ve worked tirelessly through the last 18 months of COVID, with the doors closed for much of it, enhancing the website with even more brands to make sure Bike Stop didn’t just survive but thrived. I’m so happy to have the doors fully open again and to be able to host a series of events to celebrate this significant achievement. To have Silence UK, Dougie Lampkin and Belstaff at our first open-house event will really kick it all off.”

Silence UK launched in April this year with a flagship store and headquarters in Solihull, West Midlands. Its high-tech, purpose-built, all-electric bikes and scooters are already a hit across Europe and have launched in the UK to meet a rising demand for electrified two-wheel travel, to cut costs and emissions.

Kevin Duck, Silence UK founding partner said: “Bike Stop is perfect for our first UK test ride event. Many of our customers are already bike owners and enthusiasts, looking for a low-cost option for the daily commute. I guarantee that anyone who takes a test ride will have a smile on their face. Bring along your bike licence or proof of your CBT and see for yourself!”

The shop and Café open at 9am and events kick off at 10am at Bike Stop’s store, 104 High Street, Stevenage, SD1 3DW.

A family of four Silence models are now available in the UK, priced from £2,695 OTR, including a comprehensive warranty package. For more information on Silence UK see www.silenceuk.com. To check out Bike Stop go to www.bikestop.co.uk.

Ducati Manchester announce Carl Fogarty as their brand ambassador.

Ducati Manchester has signed up Ducati legend as their new ambassador for the next 12 months.

Carl Fogarty and Ducati are intrinsically linked thanks to Carl’s incredible record as a Ducati rider in the World Superbike Championship. Fogarty has remained close to Ducati attending numerous Ducati events, press launches and race meetings since his retirement. His love for Ducati during this time has remained undiminished and has led to a close relationship with Chris Booth, owner of the Ducati Manchester group.

Chris Booth has been friends with Carl for a number of years and was keen to bring Carl on board as part of the ever-growing Ducati Manchester family. The DMC group now includes dealerships in Sale, Preston, Stoke, Worcester and most recently Glasgow.

Fogarty will attend various events at dealerships across the group as well as track days and ride-outs. He will also review new Ducati models, promote apparel and be the figurehead for Ducati Manchester across social media channels and marketing.

Chris Booth, owner of Ducati Manchester
‘Carl is the reason I fell in love with Ducati back in the early 90’s and I guess I can thank him for inspiring me on this incredible journey with Ducati and Ducati Manchester. I am extremely proud and pleased that Carl will be joining our team. He will no doubt help promote Ducati Manchester with the same passion and success he has had in his career.’

Tim Maccabee – Managing Director, Ducati UK
“Carl is not only synonymous with Ducati but also well-known for his North West of England roots – coming from Blackburn. It’s therefore very appropriate to see him teaming up with Chris Booth and representing the Ducati Manchester Group with Dealerships running up the western side of the country. It’ll be a real pleasure, as it always has been, to see Carl aboard the latest Ducati motorcycles, at events and saying hello to his Ducati fan-base”

Carl Fogarty
‘I have known Chris Booth as a friend for a long time and have seen his Ducati Manchester Group go from strength to strength. It feels like I’m back where I belong – with the motorcycle manufacturer and brand that I’m most associated with because of my racing success with Ducati… it’s good to be home! The fans still love those glory days of superbike racing and I’m looking forward to reconnecting with Ducati fans and customers up and down the country at Ducati Manchester Group stores.’

One of Carl’s first events as Ducati Manchester ambassador was last night at the Crofters Arms for ‘An evening with Carl Fogarty’ at the Ducati Manchester outdoor bar.
