Yamaha launch the next evolution of the MT-10

The definitive Master of Torque. The MT-10 is already the undisputed King of Yamaha’s Hyper Naked range.

Since it arrived on the scene this blockbuster of a motorcycle has gained the
utmost respect from everyone who has ridden it – as well as anyone who has
seen it in action.

It’s R1-derived high-torque CP4 engine is the most remarkable powerplant that Yamaha has ever fitted to a naked bike. Ultra-aggressive naked styling gives the MT-10 the most distinctive and intimidating looks.

And the lightweight aluminium chassis delivers class-leading levels of agility and stability that make this one of the most exciting and rewarding motorcycles ever built. Now the next evolution of the MT-10 is about to arrive.
With more power, more control and more adrenaline, it’s been built to take the Hyper Naked experience to the next level, and reinforce the MT-10’s reputation as the definitive Master of Torque.

The MT story
When Yamaha launched the MT-01 in 2007 no one could have predicted how this unique machine was about to change the face of the motorcycle market in Europe. With its naked body, high-torque engine and distinctive look, it stood out from the crowd. It was the beginning of a new era in the motorcycle world that really took off with the launch of the phenomenally successful MT-09 in 2013.

European riders loved what they saw – a naked sport motorcycle with a very special character that gave them the torque, agility and feel that they were looking for.

With the crossplane concept engine technology, an aggressive stance and
stripped down bodywork, the MT Hyper Naked range grew to become Yamaha’s most successful range of motorcycles.

With over 290,000 sold in Europe, the MT line up has brought a new excitement to the street, and the smaller capacity models have been successful in attracting a whole new generation of people into the world of two wheels.

From the new MT-10 through to the MT-125, Yamaha’s Hyper Naked range is designed to give every rider the opportunity to be a part of the most exciting and accessible movement in European motorcycling.

New MT-10: More power. More control. More adrenaline
Updated EU5 998cc CP4 engine
The next evolution of the MT-10 is equipped with a refined version of the legendary liquid-cooled CP4 crossplane engine that is closely related to the legendary R1. Developing increased power and producing a stronger feeling of torque, this is the most powerful and most technologically advanced engine ever seen on a Yamaha Hyper Naked motorcycle.

The updated 2022 design benefits from lightweight aluminium forged pistons, offset con rods and direct-plated cylinders in order to ensure maximum efficiency, and has a number of new model-specific features that are designed to enhance the feeling of torque.
To boost the road-focused midrange, steel conrods are used rather than the titanium components used on the R1, and the moment of inertia at the crankshaft is increased.

Fuel injection settings have been changed for an even higher level of linear torque between 4,000 and 8,000 rpm – and the design of the intake and exhaust systems is also modified to give the MT-10 a more thrilling and unique 360° Torque Emotion character.
Fuel economy is improved, CO2 levels reduced, and this more powerful engine meets EU5 regulations.

Tuned intake sound
The sound made by any motorcycle – whether intake or exhaust – is one of its most defining characteristics, and Yamaha’s engineers have focused on creating a unique soundtrack for the MT-10 by designing an all-new intake system.

With an uneven firing interval of 270°-180°-90°-180° the MT-10’s CP4 crossplane technology engine emits a distinctive intake and exhaust noise characterized by a rumbling growl at low rpm and a high pitched roar at high rpm.

Yamaha’s development team has custom-made a new tuned intake sound for the 2022 model by the use of an all-new air cleaner box that is equipped with three intake ducts with different lengths and cross sections.

Each duct produces a different intake sound, and they are designed to resonate harmoniously at varying engine speeds to create a unique intake roar that enhances the overall riding experience.

In particular, the tuned intake is specifically designed to produce a sensual roar between 4,000 rpm and 8,000 rpm that reinforces the MT-10’s enormous torque feeling when accelerating hard or powering out of a turn.

The big-torque experience is heightened by the new Acoustic Amplifier Grilles that are positioned on the front left and front right of the 17-litre fuel tank. These amplifiers transmit the tuned induction sound directly to the rider, and the vibration of the grilles themselves also contributes to the thrill and excitement experienced when the rider opens the throttle.

Titanium exhaust
A new titanium exhaust is used on the MT-10, and this lightweight system features a newly designed titanium downpipes and muffler. Like the new tuned intake, the  exhaust has been designed to emit a deep and distinctive sound that emphasizes the bike’s uneven firing sequence.

At lower engine speeds the exhaust sound is dominant, while the tuned intake roar takes over from mid to high revs to create a wall of sound that stimulates the senses and heightens the thrilling acceleration and torque rich performance of the more powerful 2022 engine.

Compact and minimalist new exterior styling
Right from the launch of the very first MT-10, this flagship Hyper Naked has maintained its distinctive individuality and established a reputation for being one of the most aggressively styled bikes in the category.
The next evolution of the MT-10 continues this theme of individuality with a powerful and dignified new look that underlines the bike’s intense character and intimidating presence.
This has been achieved by removing any unnecessary bodywork elements and refocusing attention on this charismatic bike’s mechanical beauty.

The ‘face’ of every motorcycle is one of the most significant design elements, shaping the way that it is perceived and also influencing the pride of ownership  and levels of riding enjoyment.
The new MT-10 has a completely new look with a more integrated feel that gives a more minimalist and imposing appearance.

Compact new twin-eye mono-focus LED headlights with separate high and low beam units provide excellent illumination and project a powerful and even beam with softer light at the edges.
LED position lights are situated above the headlights, and the new nose assembly transforms the looks of this flagship model and gives it an even more refined yet dominant look.

Mounted on both sides of the fuel tank cover, the enlarged ducts increase intake efficiency and contribute significantly towards the increased power output of the 2022 engine.
As well as their mechanical functionality in delivering cool air to the fuel injection system, these intakes also visually highlight the outstanding power of the 998cc engine, and form an integral part of the bike’s new look.

Together with the Acoustic Amplifier Grilles located in the front of the fuel tank cover, the dual ducts emit the thrilling intake sound of the high-torque CP4 engine for the riders enjoyment.

With minimal overhang at the front end and a more compact LED taillight – combined with the compact new nose and new larger air intakes – the MT-10’s mass centralized design is taken to the extreme, giving a brutal and condensed side profile that leaves no doubt that this is the King of the MT line.

Improved ergonomics
The MT-10’s legendary versatility in almost any riding situation from urban streets through to twisty backroads and long haul trips – and even the occasional track day – has made it one of the most competent and desirable Hyper Naked bikes. For improved comfort together with greater freedom in adopting different riding styles, the 2022 model’s ‘rider triangle’ – the bar/footrest/seat relationship – has been improved.

The fuel tank cover is now smoother, giving a better feel when the rider grips the tank with their knees when braking or accelerating – and also allows greater mobility when shifting weight for corners. In addition the seat’s firmness has been modified for greater comfort, and the seat design has been modified.

Brembo radial master cylinder
The MT-10’s outstanding front braking system, features dual floating 320mm discs with 4 piston radial-mounted calipers – the same system as used on the R1.
For 2022 a new Brembo radial brake master cylinder is featured, giving improved braking feel at the lever for increased controllability.

Yamaha Variable Speed Limiter
A key feature on the new MT-10 is the Yamaha Variable Speed Limiter (YVSL) that gives the rider the ability to set a top speed limit to suit various situations. As well as ensuring that public road speed limits are not accidentally exceeded, the
system can also be useful when riding though unfamiliar areas or in adverse
conditions.

Quick Shift System
Previously available as an optional extra, the Quick Shift System (QSS) is now fitted as original equipment on the 2022 MT-10. By enabling smooth, clutchless shifting, this system makes full-on acceleration even more exciting – downshifting is also smoother and faster.

New 4.2” full-colour TFT display
The next evolution of the MT-10 comes fully equipped with an R1 derived 4.2” full-colour TFT display that features a clear and easy to read screen with all of the key information on view.
A menu switch on the right handlebar enables the rider to select which information is displayed, while the ‘Mode/Select’ switch on the left side of the handlebar can be used to change the intervention levels of the electronic rider aids, or where applicable, to turn them on or off.

APSG ride-by-wire throttle with four power delivery modes (PWR)
A new Accelerator Position Sensor Grip (APSG) ride by wire twistgrip unit works with the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) to give the MT-10 rider increased controllability when accelerating. This advanced system provides the optimum intake air volume to the combustion chamber, ensuring that the rider experiences smooth torque characteristics over the MT-10’s wide rpm range.

The rider can also adjust the throttle response characteristics using the PWR (Power delivery mode) switch.
PWR-1 is suited to aggressive trackday riding; PWR-2 and PWR-3 deliver a
smoother throttle response that enable the rider to experience the bike’s
linear torque, and PWR-4 is a softer response that is best used when surface
conditions are wet or slippery.

6-axis IMU with rider aids
The new MT-10 is now equipped with a state of the art 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that was originally developed for the R1, and has now evolved into a smaller and lighter unit.
The IMU features two sensors that measure 3-axis angular velocity: pitch, roll and yaw – and three-axis acceleration: forward/backward, up/down and left/right. This data is transmitted to the ECU which activates the bike’s electronic rider aids which give unprecedented levels of machine controllability by intervening to prevent wheel lock ups, loss of traction or wheelies.

Lean sensitive Traction Control System
The MT-10 benefits from one of the most advanced traction control systems to be featured on a Hyper Naked.
Sensors detect the relative speeds of the front and rear wheels, and when rear
wheel traction loss is detected the ECU momentarily cuts drive to maintain
traction and stability.

Using data from the 6-axis IMU, this new lean sensitive traction control system is able to adjust the degree of intervention to correspond with the bike’s lean angle, with intervention increasing as lean angle increases.
A total of five intervention levels are available.

Slide Control system (SCS)
For increased cornering controllability and confidence the MT-10 is equipped with the latest Slide Control System (SCS). When the sensors predict that the rear wheel is about to slide sideways, the ECU intervenes and reduces drive to the rear wheel until the chassis is stable. The system uses pre-set intervention levels, but the rider can adjust the levels or turn the system off.

LIFT control system (LIF)
When sensor data tells the IMU that front wheel lift is imminent the ECU cuts power to the rear wheel until the machine is stable again. As with some of the other rider aids, the intervention levels are pre-set, but the rider can adjust them or turn them off.

Engine Brake Management (EBM)
EBM controls the degree of engine braking force when decelerating, and gives the rider a choice of two levels. Level 1 gives a high level of engine braking, while Level 2 gives minimal engine braking, enabling the rider to choose the most suitable level for the prevailing riding conditions. Modes are pre-set, but can be adjusted by the rider or turned off.

Brake Control (BC)
Brake Control (BC) is designed to give increased controllability during mid corner riding, and independently modulates and controls the pressure being applied to the front brake and rear brake.
The rider can select one of two modes: BC1 mode is a standard ABS-active mode, while BC2 is designed to operate in mid corner emergency braking situations.

Yamaha Ride Control (YRC)
While all of the electronic rider aids can be adjusted independently, Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) gives the
MT-10 owner the ability to create an all-inclusive system which can switch the
settings for the traction control, SCS, QSS, LIF, EBM and BC systems all at
once.
YRC is available in four different modes that are designed to suit a
variety of riding conditions.
Mode A is for sporty riding; Mode B is for a wide range of conditions;
Mode C is tailored for urban usage;
Mode D is for rainy or adverse conditions.

The YRC’s four modes have pre-set values, but the MT-10 rider can choose to reset the various different mode settings to match their own preferences.

Lightweight Deltabox chassis
Derived from the class-leading R1, the aluminium Deltabox chassis is one of the lightest, strongest and sharpest handling designs in any category. Developed to handle 200 HP this high-tech frame uses the CP4 engine as a fully stressed member to keep weight to an absolute minimum.
Equipped with a long aluminium swingarm but with a compact wheelbase of 1405mm, the Deltabox chassis delivers stable, light and agile handling in a wide variety of low and high speed conditions.

Optimized front and rear suspension
The MT-10’s advanced suspension system uses optimized model-specific settings that are designed to provide precise handling and confident roadholding, whether in busy urban streets or powering hard through a set of bends in the mountains.
The 43mm fully adjustable KYB front forks offer 120mm travel and can be set up to match personal riding preferences.
These high specification forks are complemented by a fully adjustable KYB rear shock that can be easily adjusted to handle varying loads and riding styles.

Bridgestone Battlax S22 tyres
The MT-10’s lightweight 5-spoke aluminium 17-inch wheels are fitted with the latest Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres.
A 120/70-ZR17 front tyre and a 190/55-ZR17 rear tyre provide outstanding levels of traction, and together with the sophisticated electronic rider aids, this package offers outstanding handling together with a remarkable degree of controllability in many different types of riding conditions.

All-new XSR900: Legend Reborn

Yamaha’s ultimate Faster Son

Yamaha’s XSR Sport Heritage range is like no other. Each model pays tribute to some of the most iconic motorcycles and designs from the company’s rich history, while at the same time offering performance minded riders the very latest in terms of engine and chassis technology.

This special combination in which a genuine respect for the past is seamlessly bonded with high performance and timeless beauty is what drives Yamaha’s Faster Sons philosophy. It resonates with those people that want to experience great riding, but also want to look stunning while doing just that. Offering a select group of informed riders the freedom to underline their individuality, every XSR model is the ideal blank canvas that allows for easy customisation and personalisation.

The freedom and creativity that XSR models offer can be seen in the many unique and beautiful Yard Built projects that have come out of the growing custom scene over the last 7 years. Not only inspiring fellow riders, but also greatly inspiring Yamaha in terms of design.

After the presentation of the first XSR900 in 2016 the Sports Heritage segment has grown and matured, and has established itself as a significant segment in the European market. Now, it is time to re-affirm the XSR900’s position as the ultimate Faster Son – a motorcycle that encapsulates the pioneering Spirit of Yamaha, while offering the very latest in terms of unique design, thrilling riding character and exclusive technology.

Blending racing heritage with advanced technology
The new generation Deltabox-style frame is a perfect example of how the XSR900 blends Yamaha heritage design with the latest road sports technology like nothing else.

Turn the clock back 40 years to the 1980s and the Deltabox frame was a radical new technology that changed the racing world forever. Already famous for its innovative technology that had established the company as one of the most successful names in road racing, Yamaha was the first manufacturer to move away from the conventional tubular frame and develop what was then a controversial and daring design. With many World Championship wins to its credit, the Deltabox frame design proved its superiority beyond doubt.

In the 1980s the Deltabox frame design was introduced on many Yamaha road models, and the concept has been refined and improved ever since. This is just one example of the Faster Sons philosophy – respecting the origin, learning from the past and then developing a better product for the modern day rider.

XSR900: Embodying the true spirit of Yamaha
Technologically and aesthetically inspired by the 1980s – a glorious and significant period in Yamaha’s history – the XSR900 is unlike many other neo-retro models in that it is not merely a revival of an ancestor or simply vintage-inspired. With the legendary Deltabox chassis design at the very heart of the bike, the XSR900 embodies the real spirit of Yamaha, giving physical form to the history, ideals and reputation that the company has achieved.

Key features such as the muscular fuel tank and vented body panels provide a purposeful design with an absence of any superfluous elements, which can trace their heritage back to the original racers and sport bikes that changed the motorcycle world four decades ago.

A design that prioritises the rider
These designs not only speak to Yamaha’s origins but are also part of the heritage that the company has an obligation to pass on. It is not about prioritising design or performance – it is prioritising the rider. With the XSR900, the Deltabox-style frame’s head pipe position is lowered and the swingarm is lengthened to improve the straight-line stability – while the overall stiffness of the top triple clamp, swingarm pivot fastening bolts and engine mounts are optimised. A pure roadster platform that will respond to casual-or-more spirited riding.

Together with the historically inspired riding position – sitting almost above the rear wheel – it creates a fun ride that arouses the senses. The torquey feel of the more powerful 889cc CP3 engine and the direct connection with the throttle are part of the bike’s charm. The new tuned exhaust sound underlines the unique and exciting character of this flagship Sport Heritage bike.

By using Yamaha’s latest technologies, the engineers have focused on ensuring that the rider can experience active control of the bike, and that the XSR900 is responding instantly and intuitively to the individual way that every motorcyclist rides the bike.

New Deltabox-style aluminium frame: Lighter, stronger, sharper
A key feature on the new XSR900 is the use of an all-new compact and lightweight aluminium frame that uses the very latest manufacturing processes to make this one of the slimmest, lightest and most compact designs in the class.

Longitudinal, lateral and torsional rigidity are all significantly increased, resulting in better straight line stability together without affecting agility, and the head pipe is located 30 mm lower than the previous model for increased feeling when cornering. This allows the handlebars to be mounted lower to give the XSR900 a more aggressive stance, and combined with other changes to the chassis there is a 14% reduction in inertia around the steering axis compared to the previous model – enabling the rider to corner quickly, accurately and confidently.

The new Deltabox-style frame has been manufactured using Yamaha’s latest Controlled Filling (CF) technology that accurately controls a number of factors including mould vacuum, temperature and injection speed.

This sophisticated Yamaha-exclusive technology makes it possible to produce complex die-cast structures that can be made lighter and stronger than by using conventional casting methods. The frame utilises sections of different thicknesses so that the rigidity level is designed to match the varying loads experienced at any specific area. Wall thickness varies from 1.7 mm at its thinnest to 3.5 mm at its thickest, and this “tuned rigidity” transmits excellent feel and feedback to the rider, giving the XSR900 a sporty and responsive handling character.

Straight line stability is also enhanced by the fitment of a box-section aluminium swingarm that is 55 mm longer than the previous model to give a 1,495 mm wheelbase – and an all-new model-specific subframe is featured. Together with the longer swingarm this new subframe emphasises the XSR900’s 80s influenced styling and low-set silhouette, plus new passenger footrests that fold away close to the subframe reinforcing the clean lines of this high-tech sport heritage bike.

Tuned rigidity: Strength with lightness
It’s not just the frame that benefits from tuned rigidity, Yamaha’s designers have gone to great lengths to ensure that the XSR900 is able to deliver even higher levels of feel and feedback. While the previous model used a swingarm that pivots on the outside of the frame, the new bike uses a swingarm pivot that is held between the outer chassis members – an improved design that is slimmer and more rigid than before.

Race-inspired fuel tank and vented bodywork
The XSR900’s fuel tank is inspired by Yamaha’s 80s-era Grand Prix road racers, and features air intakes at the front that not only help to enhance the engine efficiency, but also transmit the powerful sound of the intake roar to the rider at higher speeds.

The relationship between the sculpted 15-litre fuel tank and humped seat gives a riding position further behind the bike’s mid-point, almost above the rear axle. A layout that contributes towards the bike’s unique riding character and helps to create low stress ergonomics. Much attention was focused on the shapes of the parts that the rider comes into contact with, such as the fuel tank, seat and bar-position. Compact vented sidepanels give the XSR900 a minimalistic look, and the tank’s race style filler cap underlines the bike’s sporting heritage.

High Performance Brakes and Suspension: No compromise technology
High quality components are evident throughout the XSR900, and the new Brembo radial front master cylinder underlines the bike’s cutting edge specification that backs up its very impressive sporting potential. Featuring a piston that moves parallel to the adjustable brake lever, this system gives accurate feedback from the dual 298 mm front discs, and provides an unprecedented amount of stopping power with a high level of controllability. Attention to detail can be seen in the beautifully made forged brake pedal that controls the 245 mm rear disc.

Suspension is first class, and features fully adjustable KYB USD front forks with a gold finish that enhances the bike’s appearance, and the link-type rear suspension features a forward inclined adjustable KYB shock virtually hidden from sight to give the rear a clean and sleek appearance.

Aluminium 10-spoke spinforged wheels: Yamaha’s lightest ever
By manufacturing the new XSR900’s wheels using a Yamaha-exclusive spinforging technology it has been possible to make the front/rear wheel set 700 g lighter than before. This is a significant reduction in unsprung weight that gives more responsive suspension action for increased agility and stability. The lighter wheels decrease the moment of inertia at the rear by 11% to make the new XSR900 feel much more responsive, particularly when cornering and braking.

Round LED headlight: Modern meets retro
An endearing characteristic of the original XSR900, the round headlight, has been continued but takes it to the next level with full LED functionality. As well as providing a strong beam of light with a wide horizontal bean for excellent cornering vision at night, the new LED unit allows the use of a much shorter housing. Brushed aluminium headlight stays reinforce the bike’s strong and mechanical design, underlining its status as Yamaha’s premier sport heritage model.

To emphasise the historic racing image, the XSR900 comes fitted with a “hidden” LED taillight located beneath the seat hump. LED flashers underline the elegant and sporty lines of this high performance bike.

Premium details, high build quality
Quality and attention to detail is obvious from every angle, and it is clear that no corners have been cut and no compromises were made by Yamaha’s designers in their mission to build this next generation Sport Heritage model. For a qualitative, yet race inspired image, the cockpit is enhanced with a machined top triple clamp, drilled fork caps and an aluminium XSR logo. Other features include an embossed aluminium rear underplate, forged foot controls, black brake reservoirs and bar end mirrors showing that this is a motorcycle that is ready to make an impression – and not just with the rider.

New 889cc CP3 EU5 engine: More torque, more power
For 2022 the XSR900 is driven by a more powerful, larger capacity 889cc CP3 engine producing stronger, linear torque for outstanding acceleration. Compared to the previous engine the new unit features a 3 mm longer stroke to give an extra 43cc, and virtually all of the major internal components have been redesigned and lightened to make this one of the strongest performers in its class.

Lighter pistons contribute towards the engine’s lower weight (not including the exhaust) – 300 g less than previously – and these changes give a 4PS increase in power up to 87.5 kW (119 PS) at 10,000 rpm. More significantly the torque produced by this engine – already famous for its strong and linear output – increases significantly to 93.0 Nm (9.5 kgf-m). This represents an increase of 6% in torque, and it is achieved at only 7,000 rpm – a figure that is 1,500 rpm lower than the previous model.

Riders who are already familiar with the effortless acceleration of Yamaha’s legendary CP3 engine – one of Europe’s best selling units – are sure to be more than impressed with the increased performance of the new XSR900. It’s certain to make the Sport Heritage category one of the most exciting destinations for a new breed of rider who appreciates timeless style and wants thrilling performance with up to the minute technology.

Engineered sound quality: Bombard the senses
The original Yamaha CP3 engine is already one of the best sounding powerplants on the street, with its throaty roar available at the twist of the wrist. The quality of sound is something that most riders understand and appreciate. Yamaha’s engineers have spent a great deal of time and effort in their quest to build an exhaust system in tune with the intake – that has the ability to convey and communicate the raw torque and immense excitement associated with the XSR900 engine.

When developing the new exhaust system Yamaha’s project team rode for thousands of kilometres on twisty roads in their search of the perfect. The XSR900’s new exhaust features unequal length headers and dual-sided outlets, and by experimenting with muffler chamber size, the ideal sound was achieved. Together with the 3-duct design with dual air-intakes, the sound for the rider itself was also perfectly orchestrated.

Accelerating from a standstill, the growl emitted by the exhaust surrounds the rider and enhances the thrill experienced when charging hard, and as engine revs build the intake roar takes over from the exhaust to create an intense feeling of excitement that makes this 889cc CP3 engine such a joy to ride.

Lighter feeling A&S clutch: Confident chassis control
To handle the XSR900’s markedly increased torque levels the A&S clutch is uprated with different friction plates, and the cam angle of the clutch is changed from 30 degrees to 33 degrees. These changes reduce the load on the clutch springs, and so although the engine is delivering more torque at lower engine speeds, the clutch actually feels lighter at the lever.

By absorbing back torque the A&S clutch helps to achieve gentler and more stable chassis behaviour during downshifts, giving increased controllability when slowing down.

Optimised gear ratios for an exquisitely balanced performance
To match the XSR900’s increased power and torque output, the 6-speed transmission has been optimised with slightly higher gear ratios – with 1st gear going from 2.666->2.571, and 2nd gear going from 2.000->1.947. These changes are designed to complement the increased moment of inertia of the crankshaft, the revised characteristics of the fuel injection system, and help to provide balanced performance combined with a strong feeling of torque.

Highly sophisticated electronic systems: Ultimate rider control
The XSR900 is equipped with one of the most impressive array of electronic rider control systems ever seen in the Sport Heritage category. Back in 2015 the R1 broke new ground with its cutting edge electronics, and 6 years on this system has been further developed and miniaturised.

6-axis IMU: R-Series technology for extreme sports performance
At the heart of XSR900’s new system is a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that uses two sensors to measure three-axis velocity and three-axis acceleration. This new unit is 50% smaller and 40% lighter than the original 2015 R1 design, and it sends data to the ECU that informing the three rider aids: Lean Sensitive Traction Control System, Slide Control System (SCS) and the front Wheel Lift Control System (LIF).

Lean sensitive Traction Control System: All weather confidence
The degree of intervention of the Traction Control System is calculated by the IMU relative to the degree of lean, and the rider can select one of three intervention modes or even turn the system off completely.

Slide Control System: Ultimate control
The Slide Control System (SCS) was a revelation when R1 owners were amongst the first riders to experience it in action. It is an extremely valuable asset for any sports rider, and gives the highest degree of controllability. When a sideways rear wheel slide is predicted by the IMU the drive power is adjusted in order to maintain traction. As with TCS there are three intervention levels, as well as an off switch.

LIF anti wheelie: MotoGP technology for the real world

LIF is an anti-wheelie system that helps to smooth out machine behaviour when pulling away or accelerating hard, LIF is designed to work in harmony with the other electronic control systems.

Brake Control: Assurance in an emergency
The XSR900’s Brake Control system independently controls and moderates the front and rear brake pressure to prevent accidental wheel lock ups. BC1 is a standard type of ABS mode that activates in upright emergency stopping situations, while BC2 is designed to maintain control if emergency braking is applied when the XSR900 is leaning in mid corner.

Quick Shifter System: Full throttle all the way
The XSR900’s Quick Shifter System (QSS) takes the performance to another level by allowing the rider to do clutchless full throttle upshifts for optimum acceleration, as well as performing clutchless down shifts improving stability and corner entry.

D-Mode: The right power for every occasion
The new XSR900 features four D-Mode engine power modes, compared to three on the previous model. Mode 1 is the most aggressive full-power mode, while modes 2, 3 and 4 deliver progressively softer degrees of response to suit riding conditions.

YCC-T: Yamaha’s wireless twistgrip
While the previous XSR900 was fitted with a Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) the new model takes the technology one step further with the addition of an R1-type Acceleration Position Sensor Grip (APSG). This is a full “ride by wire” system with a sensor in the twist grip that replicates the traditional feeling of the throttle spring, and eliminates the need for any cables.

3.5-inch full-colour TFT display: Modern, clear, precise
The previous model’s circular LCD unit is now replaced with a much higher specification 3.5 inch full colour TFT display with a bar type tachometer that changes colour with rising rpm and also has a configurable display of secondary information. Ride mode selection is easily managed by through the ergonomic handle bar switches.

Cruise Control: It’s good to relax sometimes
Another new feature seen for the first time on the XSR900 is Cruise Control, this easily programmable system makes longer journeys even more enjoyable, and has the added advantage of enabling the rider to observe speed limits without having to constantly look away from the road ahead and check the speedo.

Historic Yamaha Racing influenced colouring
To strengthen the link with the innovation and success from the 80s the new XSR900 is presented in a modern day interpretation of the distinctive colours of GP-winner Christian Sarron. Christian helped underline the success of the Deltabox by delivering great performances throughout the 1980s. These achievements still resonate within Yamaha and inspire the brand to perform better every day. That colour scheme with a curvaceous 15-litre steel fuel tank and seat-hump seamlessly blend the roadster image with racer details. The distinctive gap between the tank and seat, quick release fasteners and hidden passenger foot pegs combine to produce the unique looks of the XSR900.

New colours for Yamaha’s market leading scooters

Yamaha’s highly successful line-up of Sport Scooters and Urban Mobility vehicles continues to offer Europe’s riders one of the widest and most varied choices of 2- and 3-wheel models from 125cc through to 560cc.

Set against the many challenges brought about by the global pandemic, Yamaha’s Scooter sales have proved to be extremely strong, with the key models increasing their overall sales and taking a greater market share.

The NMAX 125 is far and away the best performer in its category, with a leading market share to date in 2021. This is a particularly competitive segment, and following the launch of the updated model in December 2020 the NMAX 125 has consistently outsold its closest rival by a considerable margin.

Yamaha’s dynamic XMAX 300/XMAX 300 Tech MAX Sport Scooter is an established name in the 300cc category, leading the market since its first appearance in 2017 – and is currently in close competition for market leadership with a strong market share from January to July 2021.

Best seller in 2020, the successful XMAX 125/XMAX 125 Tech Max is a pioneer among the most popular Sport Scooters in the 125cc category, and has recorded very strong sales right through summer 2021 – despite a late start to the sales season.

With its best-in-class weight and impressive autonomy, the Tricity 300 is Yamaha’s premium 3-wheel Urban Mobility model that has won a robust market share in the first half of 2021 despite pandemic-related production challenges. Considering the model is a relative newcomer to this very competitive segment, taking around 1-in-4 of all sales when competing against long-established models shows that the Tricity 300 offers the customer the right formula of performance, style and value.

Another Yamaha sales success can be seen with the recently updated D’elight. This lightest-in-class 125cc Urban Mobility model has recently doubled its sales volume, and this affordable and stylish scooter has taken an established position in its category to date in 2021.

1961-2021: 60 years of World Grand Prix racing for Yamaha

Racing has been an integral part of Yamaha’s DNA from the day that the factory was incorporated on 1 July 1955. At the time, the company proved its products on the racetrack just days after Yamaha Motor Company was founded, when the YA-1 won the Mount Fuji Ascent Race at its very first attempt on 10 July.

Spurred on by this success, Yamaha entered its first international race at Catalina, USA in 1958. By now, the company was developing some of the most competitive two-stroke machines, and the decision was made to experience the ultimate test of rider and machine by entering the 250cc RD48 race bike in the World Championship Grand Prix round in France in May 1961. Competing at the highest level put the company firmly on the map and marked the beginning of the brand’s transformation into one of the world’s most successful and innovative motorcycle manufacturers.

Just two years after Yamaha’s debut GP, Fumio Ito took the brand’s first ever GP win on the RD56 at the Belgian Grand Prix, and the company has never looked back since that day. 1964 saw Yamaha win its first World Championship as well as its first Constructor’s title with Phil Read in the 250cc class, the first of many victories in that decade. It was the beginning of an incredible journey for everyone involved in the company’s race programme, and during the past 60 years Yamaha has established itself as one of the most successful manufacturers with over 500 Grand Prix race wins, along with 38 rider titles, 37 constructor titles and 7 team titles.

Speed block: Yamaha’s historic racing colours
In 1964 the competition department debuted their 250cc Grand Prix racer with a new white fairing with a solid red stripe and red front fender. It proved to be a good omen, and factory rider Phil Read went on to win Yamaha’s first ever world title.

This bold, simple and dynamic red/white colour scheme soon established itself as the instantly-recognisable Yamaha look in Grand Prix road racing, and was the forerunner to Yamaha speed block: arguably the most famous and best-loved colour scheme ever featured on a racing motorcycle.

A white fairing with red speed block rapidly established itself as the definitive Yamaha racing colour scheme in Europe for the next two decades right through to the Rainey and Lawson era. The incredible public reaction to the recent unveiling of the factory M1 with its special 60th Anniversary speed block colours demonstrates that it is one of the company’s most evocative colour schemes that is popular with riders and fans of all ages. Simple, dynamic, timeless and instantly recognisable, speed block will forever be associated with Yamaha and its highly successful GP campaigns from a very special era in the company’s history.

New R-Series World GP 60th Anniversary models
To celebrate Yamaha’s long and illustrious Grand Prix racing history, the company has created a World GP 60th Anniversary livery for the 2022 R1, R7, R3 and R125 models.

Just like Yamaha’s famous World Championship winning machinery, the World GP 60th Anniversary R1, R7, R3 and R125 feature pure white bodywork with a strong horizontal red stripe and white vertical lines creating the red speed block. This authentic race bike colour scheme features an all-red front fender and gold-coloured wheels just like winning Yamaha’s factory bikes, and this timeless look is completed with a yellow front number plate, an anniversary emblem and a red stripe running along the top of the fuel tank and the tail.

Since Yamaha made its GP debut in 1961, the company has achieved over 500 Grand Prix race wins with legendary riders including Read, Ivy, Saarinen, Agostini, Roberts, Lawson, Rainey, Lorenzo and Rossi, and more recently Quartararo – and these historic racing colours highlight the connection between Yamaha’s race bikes and every R-Series model.

Honda, Yamaha, KTM, Piaggio Sign Swappable Battery Agreement

Following the signing of the Letter of Intent on March 1, HONDA Motor Co., KTM F&E GmbH, Ltd., PIAGGIO Group (PIA.MI) and YAMAHA Motor Co., Ltd., have officially signed the agreement for the creation of the Swappable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium (SBMC).

Committed to the promotion of the widespread use of light electric vehicles, such as mopeds, scooters, motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles in the transport sector and to the more sustainable life-cycle management of batteries in the context of international climate policies, the founding members of the Consortium believe that the availability of a commonly developed swappable battery systems is key to the development of low-voltage electromobility.

The underlying aim of the Consortium is to find solutions to the concerns customers may have regarding the future of electromobility, such as the range, the charging time and infrastructure, and costs. This will be achieved in accordance with four primary goals:

  1. Develop common technical specifications of the swappable battery systems
  2. Confirm common usage of the battery systems
  3. Make, and promote, the Consortium’s common specifications as a standard within European and International standardization bodies
  4. Expand the use of the Consortium’s common specification to global level

By working closely with interested stakeholders and National, European and International standardization bodies, the founding members of the Consortium will be involved in the creation of international technical standards. Indeed, the availability of charging stations varies between countries and there is still limited information for end users. Therefore, with this Consortium, HONDA, KTM, PIAGGIO and YAMAHA aim at
engaging the decision makers for the development and deployment of charging infrastructure to promote the increase of light electric vehicles.

The four founding members encourage all interested stakeholders to join the cooperation to enrich the Consortium’s expertise in order to ensure a large diffusion of standard swappable batteries in the future. Parties who are interested to join the SBMC can contact one of the founding members for further information.

Yoshishige Nomura, Chief Officer, Motorcycle Operations, Honda Motor Co., Ltd.:  Honda believes that the widespread adoption of electric motorcycles can play an important part in realising a more sustainable society. For that purpose, we need to solve several challenges such as extending the range, shortening the charging time and lowering the vehicle and infrastructure costs to enhance convenience for customers. In the Consortium we have created, the founding members from the motorcycle industry and other stakeholders will work together towards standardizing swappable batteries, their charging systems and surrounding infrastructure to create the environment for their use. Our final goal is to ensure that motorcycles will continue to be chosen as a useful method of transportation in future mobility

Stefan Pierer, CEO PIERER Mobility AG: “The signing of this Consortium agreement is a key step in ensuring that PIERER Mobility AG, can continue to move forward, deliver innovation at pace, and advance its clear strategic vision for electric powered two-wheelers. Together with our partners, we will work to deliver a swappable battery system for low-voltage vehicles (48V) up to 11kW capacity, based on international technical standards. We very much look forward to ensuring that powered two-wheeler vehicles maintain their role in the future of both urban and non-urban mobility

Michele Colaninno, Chief of strategy and product of Piaggio Group: “Urban mobility is going through a delicate moment of transition towards electrification. Thanks to our Consortium, representing four major global players, motorbikes will continue to play a key role in the urban context. Swappable batteries give the right answer to speed up the recharging time of vehicles offering an additional valuable choice for users. Urban mobility is part of the Piaggio DNA and history: our aim is to bring all our technological know-how and attitude for innovation to the Consortium.”

Takuya Kinoshita, Senior Executive Officer, Chief General Manager of Land Mobility Business Operations, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd.: “The Swappable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium in Europe is finally ready to get to work. I hope that this first step forward will be a beacon that draws like-minded parties to our mission and leads to transformative changes for the future. We at Yamaha Motor are confident that through this initiative, we can help unify the differing technical specs and standards and contribute to maximizing the merits of electric power for customers around the world.”

Yamaha Will Participate in 2021 EICMA Motorcycle Show

Yamaha Motor Europe announces that it will take part in the 2021 edition of the EICMA show which will be held from 23rd to 28th November.

Yamaha Motor Europe has made this decision thanks to the positive progression of the international and national vaccination programs and the steady easing of the restrictive measures against COVID-19 in Europe and Italy in particular. The expectation is that by the end of November visiting large exhibitions will be possible again. Preventive safety measures to contain COVID-19 will still be implemented, in cooperation with the EICMA organization, to secure a pleasant and safe visit to the show. In that respect, the size of the Yamaha stand will be enlarged in comparison to 2019 to allow visitors more personal space.

Eric de Seynes, President and CEO of Yamaha Motor Europe N.V., affirms: “The decision to attend EICMA was not an easy one to make for obvious reasons. However, after having observed the trend related to the evolution of COVID-19 and being reassured by the EICMA organization that we can provide a safe environment for all visitors, while allowing them to experience the event to the full, we believe it is the right decision to support the return of such an event. With arguably the largest international reach, EICMA has great significance for our industry, being a unique moment and place where the motorcycle community can come together to feel the reaction from media and customers to the new products, keeping the connection with them alive and providing inspiration towards future trends. While we have yet to return to what most of us consider normality, this year’s event provides the first opportunity for enthusiasts to come together and be connected again physically, rather than virtually.”

We hope to see you at the Yamaha stand in November.

New 2022 Yamaha Off Road Competition Range

True commitment to racing with all-new YZ125, along with major upgrades for YZ250 and YZ85.

Featuring an all-new higher performance 125cc 2-stroke engine as well as sharper, more compact bodywork, improved ergonomics, higher performance brakes and refined KYB suspension, the YZ125 is the ultimate choice for tomorrow’s professional rider.

For 2022 the highly successful YZ250 comes with an all-new super slim bodywork that sharpens up its profile to make it one of the most dynamic looking bikes on the track. Besides, for riders looking to have a bike with the factory racing look, the new YZ125 and YZ250 come in Monster Energy Yamaha Racing colors too.

And including much of the same advanced engine and chassis technology as the YZ125 and YZ250, the new 2022 YZ85 is the ultimate bike for any young racer aiming for the victorYZone.

Fighting all the way to the victorYZone
2020 witnessed Monster Energy Official Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 riders fighting at the front throughout the season, with Jeremy Seewer and Jago Geerts finishing the year as vice-champion in MXGP and MX2 respectively.

During the past season Yamaha has displayed incredible strength, with YZ450F riders taking two out of the top four places in the 2020 MXGP standings, while YZ250F riders took three out of the top five places in the 2020 MX2 standings, securing Yamaha the MX2 Manufacturer’s World Title as a result.

In the USA, where the 2021 Supercross season has already concluded, Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing riders dominated both the 2021 250 SX East and West Championships aboard of their YZ250F machines.

Total and enduring commitment to Motocross
Ever since Yamaha won its first ever World Motocross championship almost 50 years ago, the company has been totally committed to supporting the sport and creating a range of winning machinery for riders of all ages. Yamaha was one of the first Japanese brands to produce purpose-built race bikes for youth riders, and the first to introduce to the track 4-stroke MX machines. Today the company continues to be a major force in motocross at every level and with a full commitment to every rider.

Yamaha especially recognizes the importance of the youth motocross scene, where future champions perfect their skills before moving into the big league. This is why since 2015 Yamaha has operated the highly successful YZ bLU cRU FIM Europe Cup program that offers young YZ125, YZ85 and YZ65 riders the chance to qualify for the bLU cRU Europe Cup SuperFinale each year and make their name in front of a huge international audience at the prestigious Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations.

To underline the company’s long-term commitment to motocross, Yamaha will launch an all-new YZ125 for 2022, along with major upgrades for the YZ250 and YZ85 models that give every rider the opportunity to realise their true potential and head straight to the victorYZone!

YZ125

All-new YZ125: Agility. Ability. Victory.
For 2022 the all-new YZ125 gets a completely redesigned higher performance engine along with a seriously upgraded chassis and a slimmer and more radical looking body to make this the most competitive YZ125 ever.

Delivering a significantly higher power output along with better useability – and featuring sharper handling, stronger braking and improved ergonomics – the new YZ125 is designed to become the default choice for up and coming riders looking to increase their confidence and experience, and take their performance to the next level.

Its advanced specification clearly demonstrates Yamaha’s desire to give tomorrow’s champions the very best equipment in their teenage years so that they’re ready to fight for the biggest prize when they move on up to the professional ranks.

New 125cc engine: Increased performance with improved useability
For 2022 Yamaha’s engineers have worked flat-out to create the most powerful engine ever fitted to a production YZ125. In their quest for stronger race-winning performance the design team have built an all-new 125cc, 2-stroke engine that develops significantly higher power in the mid to high rpm range.

Virtually every major component on the 2022 engine is new, and the comprehensive redesign delivers a significant increase in the maximum power output, to give the YZ125 a real winning advantage when the gate drops. The increased power together with improved useability and a better over-rev feeling enable motocross racers to take maximum advantage of the horsepower gains and outperform the opposition on all parts of the track.

All-new head, cylinder and piston
The YZ125’s cylinder head, cylinder and piston are completely redesigned as part of the drive towards achieving increased performance along with enhanced power characteristics. The most significant changes include a reshaped combustion chamber, as well as a shorter exhaust port and revised cylinder porting which give a significant improvement in combustion efficiency.

Newly designed YPVS
To complement the head and cylinder changes, a newly designed YPVS is featured. The maximum lift on the new exhaust power valve has been revised, and the timing of its opening and closing are also modified in order to improve engine performance and also enhance driveability.

New Keihin carburettor and V-Force reed valve assembly
A major feature on the new engine is the use of a Keihin PWK 38.1mm carburettor equipped with a solenoid controlled power jet that gives an instant hit of power when required. The new carburettor features a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) as well as a 3D map controlled CDI that ensures optimised ignition timing. Together with a new V-Force reed valve assembly and a revised manifold design, this new intake and carburettor gives the YZ125 rider stronger acceleration for out of the gate, and more explosive power when exiting corners.

Longer con rod and heavier crank
Other internal changes that contribute towards the new engine’s increased output include a longer con rod as well as a slightly heavier crank. This results in increased inertia that optimises the engine’s behaviour, and the revised crank balance is designed to match the new engine’s increased power output.

New high-efficiency air intake system
A key feature on the new YZ125 is its completely redesigned air intake system. By redesigning the rear frame as well as both sidepanels and reshaping the seat base, Yamaha’s engineers have reduced the resistance to incoming air by 15% and succeeded in dramatically increasing overall intake efficiency on the new model. This not only contributes significantly towards improving the mid to high rpm pulling power and improving the over-rev character, it also sharpens the low to mid rpm throttle response for more stable running at lower revs.

New exhaust pipe and shorter silencer
The dimensions and shape of the exhaust have been changed for 2022 to match the other changes to the engine for optimised power and useability. The expansion pipe’s diameter is slightly reduced at its widest point, and the silencer is 50mm shorter.

Stronger and smoother shifting transmission
The YZ125’s 6-speed transmission has been strengthened for 2022 in order to handle the increase in maximum power. Secondary reduction ratio is slightly increased with the use of a 13/49 front/rear sprocket set – previously 13/48 – and for improved driveability 5th and 6th gears run with a slightly reduced ratio.

A new shift shaft and redesigned return spring give a much smoother shift feel, and to handle the increased engine power the new YZ125 features uprated clutch springs.

Athletic and more compact body
The 2022 YZ125 is equipped with slimmer tank, new seat and revised graphics that give the bike a radical, modern and athletic look to complement its increased engine performance – as well as enabling the rider to achieve an even higher degree of chassis control.

Flatter seat
For improved rider ability, freer movement and easier body weight shifting the seat’s upper surface has been flattened by lowering the front by 6mm and raising the rear by 5mm, while the new fuel tank blends seamlessly with the front of the seat – and for easier maintenance there’s also a new single-bolt seat fixing.

Slimmer tank and radiator shrouds
The YZ125 is already one of the lightest and most agile dirt bikes in its class, and the new model is even slimmer thanks to the use of a new fuel tank and narrow radiator shrouds that make this the most compact YZ125 ever. Width between the rider’s knees is reduced by nearly 36mm to give a real feeling of slimness and agility for improved ergonomics and rider mobility.

Newly designed fenders and sidepanels
To achieve the new high-efficiency air intake system the sidepanels, rear fender and underside of the new seat have been redesigned, so as to give an unrestricted flow of air into the airbox. The shape of the front fender has also been revised to give a more aerodynamic and dynamic look.

Newly designed rear frame
The YZ125’s is equipped with a performant, high-specification and lightweight aluminium semi-double cradle frame.  And for 2022 the detachable rear frame features a new mounting point for the shorter silencer, while a newly designed raised cross member allows for improved intake efficiency by giving a clear route for incoming air. This new cross member also accommodates the new single bolt seat mounting point for easier maintenance.

YZ125

Revised suspension settings
The YZ125’s KYB front and rear suspension systems are regarded as being amongst the best in class, incorporating a leaf-spring in the valve design that gives excellent damping at mid speeds. For 2022 these high-specification suspension systems are further refined, and both the front forks and rear shock feature revised low speed damping characteristics for enhanced chassis performance.

More powerful front brake and lighter rear brake
For increased braking power together with more precise feel the new model is equipped with a new more rigid twin-pot caliper and redesigned 270mm diameter disc. Featuring larger diameter 25.4mm pistons together with new pads that give a 30% increase in contact area with the disc, this new more powerful front braking system enables riders to reduce lap times by braking harder and later.

New generation colours and graphics
The new YZ125 adopts the latest Icon Blue colours consisting of a duo-tone finish that blends Yamaha’s famous Icon Blue with a dark matte blue. The all-new body and new in-mould graphics accentuate the dynamic and athletic stance of this new generation 125cc model, and clearly demonstrate Yamaha’s commitment to delivering the most competitive and attractive package to tomorrow’s champions.

YZ250

New YZ250: 2 Strokes. First place.
Few other motocross bikes can come close to matching the Yamaha YZ250 2-stroke in terms of its history, enduring world-wide popularity and its enviable track record. It was the original YZ250 that gave Yamaha its first ever World Championship with Håkan Andersson back in 1973 – the first of many 250cc FIM World Championship and AMA Supercross titles to be claimed by this iconic motocross bike over the next few decades by some of the sport’s greatest riders.

And today this remarkable race bike’s reputation and popularity are as strong as ever with those riders who appreciate its light weight, mechanical simplicity, great looks and winning performance. It’s fair to say that the YZ250 is a true legend in the off road world – how many other motocross bikes have dedicated Facebook pages with thousands of followers!

For 2022 the evolution of this highly successful motocross bike continues, and the new YZ250 comes with all-new super slim bodywork that sharpens up its profile to make it one of the most dynamic looking bikes on the track. But the new model is much more than simply a cosmetic restyle, and its new enhanced chassis specification includes more powerful braking, revised suspension, new lightweight components and a high-efficiency intake system.

Super-slim body with strong horizontal line
The YZ250 is equipped with all-new super slim bodywork that is similar to the design used on the all-new YZ125, and features a strong horizontal line that gives the bike an aggressive and purposeful look. The new tank and radiator shrouds give much narrower dimensions between the rider’s knees for enhanced rider mobility when weight shifting and cornering – and the compact body also creates a feeling of lightness and agility that reinforce the athletic character of the new model.

Flatter seat
As well as the narrower body width, the 2022 YZ250 features a newly designed seat that has a flatter upper surface that improves the bike’s ergonomics and makes front/rear weight shifting easier and quicker.

New rear fender and sidepanels give enhanced air intake efficiency
The front fenders features a sharper and more dynamic look, and the sidepanels and rear fender have been redesigned to enhance air intake efficiency. This is done by incorporating larger rear vents in the sidepanels, as well as designing the underside of the seat and the shape of the top of the rear fender so that they do not impede air flow. The resulting increase in overall intake efficiency contributes towards improved performance at higher engine speeds. And to match the new air intake the YZ250 is fitted with a new exhaust featuring a revised shape and modified dimensions.

Lighter and more powerful brakes
The new YZ250 features a powerful new braking system that delivers increased performance and feel while at the same time reducing weight. The newly designed 270mm front disc is the same diameter as previously, but by fitting a new more rigid caliper with larger diameter 25.4mm pistons, the new front brake has a 30% larger pad area. This combination of higher caliper rigidity together with a much larger pad area gives outstanding braking power as well as accurate feel for precision one-finger braking.

The rear brake has also been improved with the fitment of a slightly smaller diameter 240mm disc – down by 5mm – as well as a newly designed caliper that gives the same pad area and braking performance as the previous model, while saving almost 100g in weight.

Revised suspension settings
The YZ250’s 48mm high-specification KYB SSS front forks and KYB link-type Monocross rear suspension set the industry benchmark, and for 2022 the factory settings have been revised to give even better low speed damping characteristics.

Weight saving components
Further small but nevertheless important weight reductions have been achieved by the use of a newly designed clutch lever and rear sprocket.

New colours and graphics
The 2022 YZ250 is finished in a dynamic and high quality Icon Blue duo-tone finish with durable in-mould graphics that are designed to withstand harsh motocross riding conditions.

YZ250 Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition
For 2022 Yamaha will release an exclusive new YZ250 Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition. Finished in Monster Black colour and featuring factory replica graphics that make this legendary motocross bike even more of an attention grabber on the track and in the paddock.

This is the first time that this exclusive colour and graphics package has been offered on the YZ250, and is inspired by the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 team bikes.

Technical specifications for YZ250 and YZ250 Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Edition are the same.

YZ250 Technical Highlights

  • 250cc 2-stroke liquid-cooled YPVS motor

YZ85

YZ85: Victory. Never given, always earned.
Many of today’s motocross legends started out on the Yamaha YZ85. Light, nimble, fast and reliable, this is a high-specification scaled down version of Yamaha’s larger capacity race bikes. Featuring much of the same advanced engine and chassis technology as the YZ125 and YZ250, the new 2022 YZ85 is the very best start that any racer can get on the long and exciting journey towards a career as a professional racer.

With compact new bodywork as well as a flatter seat and range of chassis revisions, many of the changes on the new YZ85 mirror those seen on the all-new YZ125 – and like its larger sibling, the new YZ85 is designed to deliver a stronger, better and more athletic package for riders aiming for the victorYZone.

Dynamic new styling
The new 2022 styling bears a close resemblance to the larger capacity YZ models, and the compact new bodywork features a strong horizontal theme that  together with the flat seat and restyled sidepanels gives this youth race bike a confident and aggressive stance.

The new duo-tone colour scheme features contrasting areas of Icon Blue and dark matte blue – and the new in-mould graphics are designed to withstand many motos in tough conditions, helping to keep this high-tech race bike looking good throughout the season.

Slim new bodywork

For 2022 the YZ85 is equipped with slimmer bodywork that gives the rider greater freedom of body movement for a higher degree of control when accelerating, braking and cornering. The redesigned radiator shrouds are 25mm narrower at their widest point, and now feature a uniform left-right configuration that adds to the balanced feel of the bike from the rider’s viewpoint.

There’s also a newly designed front fender with an upper that’s designed to help direct airflow into the YZ85’s radiator for effective cooling and consistently strong engine performance. The dynamic design also complements the compact new bodywork and reinforces the bike’s YZ family DNA it has inherited from the YZ125.

YZ85

Flatter seat and redesigned fuel tank
And like the YZ125, the new YZ85 is equipped with a flatter seat that enables the rider to shift their body weight more easily. The ergonomics are further improved by the new 5-litre fuel tank with a redesigned fuel cap that gives greater freedom of body movement towards the front of the bike. The seat also adopts a new single bolt fixing, making routine maintenance easier and quicker.

Rear position high-efficiency air intake
Newly designed sidepanels on the YZ85 perform two important roles: Firstly, their smooth and close fitting design promotes rider manoeuvrability for rapid front/rear weight shifting. And secondly they feature new rear vents that give a straighter flow of air into the engine’s airbox, thereby giving greater intake efficiency for improved engine performance.

More linear rear brake performance
For a more linear rear braking character the YZ85 is equipped with a new master cylinder with a built-in sub-reservoir. This new more efficient design replaces the previous model’s separate reservoir and connecting hose to give a more natural and linear brake feel with more precise feedback.

Lightweight aluminium rear frame and new swingarm
For 2022 the chassis on the new YZ85 is equipped with a new lightweight aluminium rear frame that is 570gr lighter than the steel unit used on the previous model, a significant reduction in weight that also contributes towards the bike’s mass centralisation.

Also new is a redesigned swingarm that features a revised balance between its longitudinal rigidity and torsional rigidity. This subtle but significant change improves chassis stability and allows the rider to transmit power to the ground more effectively.

YZ85 Technical Highlights

  • 85cc 2-stroke YPVS engine
  • Fully adjustable KYB suspension
  • Large diameter wave-type disc brakes
  • Slim and dynamic new style
  • Reduced weight
  • New bodywork
  • Improved ergonomics
  • Narrower bodywork between the rider’s knees

New R7: Next generation Supersport from Yamaha

Where R/World meets yours

Since the original YZF-R1 changed the face of the Supersport world forever back in 1998, the Yamaha R-Series has gone on to establish itself as the definitive high-performance motorcycle line-up.

Today’s range is headed by the flagship R1M – the most advanced production motorcycle ever made by Yamaha – and the R-Series offers track riders a superb choice of machinery including the R1 and R6 RACE, backed up by an extensive range of GYTR tuning parts that enable owners to attain even higher levels of engine and chassis performance. Yamaha is committed to offering the widest choice of Supersport models for all riders, and at the other end of the spectrum the 2-cylinder R3 and single-cylinder R125 are the ideal introduction to R/World for newer track and road riders.

The nature of the Supersport world is changing, and while the more extreme models continue to attract a devoted following of performance-focused riders, Yamaha is further expanding its segment-leading supersport range with the launch of the new R7 that will introduce a new generation of riders to R/World.

Yamaha R7: Respecting the legend
No motorcycle would ever dare to compare itself to the original YZF-R7. Only 500 of these full factory race bikes were produced in 1999 to gain homologation for World Superbike and Suzuka 8 Hours. Raced by legendary riders including Noriyuki Haga and Akira Yanagawa, the YZF-R7 is considered to be one of the most exotic and desirable Japanese motorcycles ever built.

The new R7 has been named in order to show respect for the original limited edition YZF-R7 superbike. Proudly carrying this illustrious name, the 2021 R7 is a new kind of Supersport that has been created to appeal to a younger audience, and is built to introduce the next generation of riders to the thrills, excitement and pride of ownership that comes with every R-Series.

New Yamaha R7: Adding a new dimension to R/World
While there is always going to be a place for the legendary R1M, R1 and R6 RACE, the arrival of the new R7 makes R/World a reality for many younger riders who yearn for the Supersport lifestyle.

Powered by Yamaha’s outstandingly successful and much-loved CP2 engine that is famous for its strong and linear torque delivery – as well as its reliability and low running costs – the new R7 is ready to shake up the middleweight market. Clothed in exquisitely crafted bodywork and featuring an extremely high specification that includes radial-mount front brakes, inverted forks and an A&S clutch, the R7 is a new kind of motorcycle that offers exciting Supersport performance with outstanding handling and aggressive R-Series style – and all of this at a highly competitive price.

Light, compact and agile, this stunning looking machine is designed to give its rider the highest degree of control and the biggest fun factor in its class – whether they’re riding on the track or on the street. This Supersport really is within the grasp of every rider who wants to be a part of R/World. R7 is a new reality, and it’s ready to attract a new audience and have a significant impact on the Supersport world.

689cc CP2 engine: Sports performance with everyday fun
With its clear focus on pure riding excitement, accessibility and affordability, the new R7 represents an exciting new dimension to the R-Series Supersport family. Regarded as one of the most characterful, responsive and reliable designs in its class, Yamaha’s successful 689cc CP2 engine is the perfect powerplant for this new model.

Featuring a 270 degree crankshaft that gives an uneven firing sequence, the 4-stroke inline 2-cylinder DOHC 4-valve liquid-cooled CP2 engine delivers strong and linear torque across a wide rpm range, making it a lively performer in all gears and at all engine speeds. Maximum power of 73.4PS (54kW) is produced at 8,750 rpm, and more significantly the maximum torque of 67 Nm is achieved at 6,500 rpm, giving the R7 extremely strong standing start and roll-on acceleration – while the uneven pulses of the 270 degree crankshaft create a very real feeling of mounting excitement as the revs rise.

Dedicated changes to the existing CP2 engine include a new ECU specification and optimised air intake ducts, as well as a revised exhaust design and idealised fuel injection settings. These measures work to enhance controllability and deliver a smooth and responsive throttle response, contributing to the enjoyable torque-rich riding experience of the R7 – while also achieving full EU5 compliance. In addition to these dedicated modifications, the R7 also runs a slightly reduced secondary gear reduction ratio to give a sportier character with stronger acceleration.

A&S clutch: Ultimate controllability
A key new feature on the R7’s CP2 engine is the adoption of an Assist & Slipper (A&S) clutch that delivers smoother gear shifting and prevents engine over-rev and rear wheel hop during hard braking, resulting in more predictable and controllable handling when approaching corners.

Another advantage of the R7’s A&S clutch is that it provides a significantly lighter feel at the lever, approximately 33 per cent less than a standard clutch.

Optional Quick Shift System: Seamless upshifts for full-on acceleration
R7 riders can choose to have an optional Quick Shift System (QSS) fitted to their new Supersport by the supplying Yamaha dealer. This simple but effective QSS features a switch positioned on the gear shift rod, and when any upshifting movement is detected the ECU instantaneously cuts power to the transmission for a few milliseconds, allowing for faster and smoother full throttle upshifts for even more exhilarating acceleration.

Slim and lightweight frame: Ultra-responsive handling with agile cornering
Slimness and compactness are two of the defining characteristics of the R7, and this new Supersport features a lightweight backbone style frame that is designed to deliver responsive and agile handling together with fast and nimble directional changes.

A rigid mounted aluminium centre brace contributes towards the bike’s sharp handling performance on the track and road, and the high tensile steel frame uses tubing of varying strengths in key locations in order to achieve an idealised rigidity balance.

Fully adjustable 41 mm inverted forks: Easily set up for track or road
A great deal of attention has been paid to the design of the R7’s new suspension package in order to achieve accurate front end feel during cornering and braking. The new KYB 41 mm inverted front forks provide a high level of stability together with confident roadholding on racetracks and twisty roads. And to ensure a firm and predictable front end feel, a gravity cast upper triple clamp and forged aluminium lower triple clamp are featured.

The R7 can be set up by the rider to suit different conditions, and these Supersport class forks are fully adjustable for preload as well as compression and rebound damping. With the compression function located in the left fork leg and the rebound function in the right leg, adjustments are quick and easy to make.

For precise handling with accurate feedback the R7’s high specification inverted forks give a steep caster angle of 23.7 degrees with 90 mm trail, and with a compact 1,395 mm wheelbase and a 51/49 front/rear wheel weight distribution, this new Supersport is built to corner hard and fast.

Newly designed link-type Monocross rear suspension
The R7 adopts a redesigned link-type Monocross rear suspension system with damping characteristics and a spring rate, that are designed to suit the sporty character of the bike. Being horizontally mounted, the shock contributes towards mass centralisation that enhances handling agility – and is easily adjustable for preload and rebound damping, enabling the R7 chassis to be quickly set up for track or street use.

Supersport riding position: Clip-ons, rearsets and solo-style rider’s seat
The R7’s sporty riding position is the result of many hours of test riding by factory riders, and the use of clip-ons confirms the bike’s genuine Supersport DNA. After experimenting with a wide variety of bar/seat/footrest configurations, the final result is designed to give a sporty yet adaptable riding position that allows plenty of freedom of body position to master different riding situations – especially race tracks and twisty roads.

An important feature is the seat design which is narrow around the rider’s inner thighs and wider at the rear, allowing maximum freedom of movement. The back sweep and drop angle of the clip-on handlebars and the positioning of the rear sets have been carefully considered in order to realise a tucked-in riding position that enables the rider to achieve optimum control together with the greatest possible aerodynamic efficiency. The ability to tuck tightly into the machine is enhanced by the deeply indented tank cover, and these knee pockets also enable the rider to grip the bike during braking and cornering.

The solo-style seat features a bump-stop design with a passenger pad on top of the tail, and the optional Yamaha Genuine Accessories seat cowl can be easily fitted to the R7 for riders who only go solo.

Radial mount calipers and radial master cylinder: High performance with fingertip control
The R7’s genuine R-Series credentials can be seen in the high specification front braking system, featuring radial-mount 4-piston brake calipers that give accurate and uniform stopping power for the ultimate in fingertip control. This advanced front braking system also includes a Brembo radial master cylinder that delivers linear brake pressure for enhanced controllability.

Ultra-athletic dimensions: The search for perfect control
What makes the R7 such an attractive Supersport for a wide range of customers is the fact that it is designed to enable its rider to achieve a high level of control in many different situations. A key element that makes the R7 owner feel truly at one with their machine is its compact and athletic outline that allows the rider to be in charge of the machine, rather than the machine dominating the rider.

With a wet weight of just 188 kg and compact proportions, it means that the bike is highly accessible and riders can become an integral part of this new generation Supersport. Along with its mass centralised design, low frontal area and small moment of inertia, the compactness gives the R7 rider a feeling of total control that helps to elevate their riding and confidence to another level, while at the same time boosting the enjoyment of a trackday experience, weekend ride or daily commute.

Super-slim R-Series bodywork: Reduced air resistance for optimal performance
The key to pushing any Supersport bike through the air most effectively is to keep its frontal area as small as possible, and this is where the R7 has a strong advantage. Its compact CP2 engine is one of the narrowest in the 700cc class, and the minimalist tubular chassis keeps overall dimensions to a minimum. These factors have enabled Yamaha to create the slimmest ever R-Series – that’s even narrower than the R3 and R125 – making the R7 one of the most aerodynamically efficient bikes with a rider on board.

The incredibly small frontal area not only makes the R7 one of the most stunning looking supersport models, but it also pays dividends in terms of performance. Producing the same maximum power as any other CP2-powered Yamaha, the aerodynamic new R7 is capable of achieving a significantly higher top speed.

Evolving R-Series face: Pure and aggressive as ever
With its aggressive twin-eye glare and YZR-M1 MotoGP™ bike style M-shaped air intake, there can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the R7 is a fully paid-up member of the R-Series family. The R7 represents the evolution of the R-Series face, and features a single LED headlight recessed within the iconic M-shaped air duct, while LED position lights are located within the twin-eye face – and there’s a new air deflector located at the base of the intake.

Newly designed full LCD instruments
The compact Supersport cockpit features newly designed lightweight LCD instruments with a high-contrast negative mode display that gives clear and easy to absorb information, allowing the R7 rider to focus on the road ahead. Features include gear indicator as well as a shift indicator light, and a QSS indicator when this optional feature is used.

Lightweight 10-spoke alloy wheels
For easy manoeuvrability together with agile handling and responsive suspension action the R7 is equipped with lightweight 10-spoke cast alloy wheels. A high level of traction is provided by a 120/70ZR17 front tyre and a wide 180/55ZR17 rear tyre that deliver stable and confident roadholding when cornering, accelerating and braking.

All-new XSR125: Commuting in style

Timeless design for the modern commuter.

Born for free spirits
Designed for those riders who appreciate the seamless combination of true heritage design with timeless neo-retro looks and up-to-the-minute technology, Yamaha’s Sport Heritage models are truly in a class of their own. With a unique character and everlasting appeal, every XSR model is designed to deliver not just an outstanding riding experience, but to enable its owner to underline their individuality and express their personality.

Yamaha’s Faster Sons philosophy is inspired by the past while looking firmly to the future, and it is an approach that strikes a chord with those free spirited riders who like to do things their own way. The whole Yard Built scene has been inspired and encouraged by the Faster Sons movement, and over the past 6 years the most respected custom builders from Europe and beyond have created many radical and thought provoking machines using a Yamaha Sport Heritage model as their starting point.

With the current Sport Heritage range headed by the flagship 3-cylinder XSR900, closely supported by the 2-cylinder XSR700, the time is right to introduce a new model that will open up the Faster Sons way of life to a whole new audience. Designed and built to the same high quality standards as its older siblings, the XSR125 offers younger riders the opportunity to experience the unique riding experience and pride of ownership that comes with every XSR – and with its premium build quality and proven Yamaha reliability, customers can be sure that this is a machine that will not let them down, and will retain a good used value.

All-new XSR125: Commuting in style
Commuting is about to become a lot more fun with the XSR125. Built to a high standard specification that includes Yamaha’s top-of-the-line engine as well as an agile handling frame – and featuring state-of-the-art technology seamlessly intertwined with timeless heritage style – this new lightweight is the youngest member of the Faster Sons family. And like many younger siblings, this bike is ready to make its mark and is ready to impress.

With its strong retro-inspired colour schemes, exquisite detailing and first class Yamaha build quality, this is a bike that demands to be noticed wherever it is ridden. Unlike some other models in the class that prefer to keep a low profile, the XSR125 is the kind of bike that makes a strong statement, and has the performance, technology and style to back it up.

Light, agile and fun
This new motorcycle has been designed to be light, agile and enjoyable for everyday riding – making it the ideal choice for a wide range of B1 license car drivers* looking for an alternative to four wheels, as well as for existing riders with an A-license who appreciate the XSR125’s outstanding value and impressive specification.

Those riders who may be completely new to motorcycling will be reassured by the comfortable upright riding position as well as the smooth suspension and easy, lightweight handling – and both new and existing riders are going to appreciate the fun-loving nature of Yamaha’s newest Sport Heritage bike.

Pure and timeless XSR styling
Just like every model in the Yamaha Sport Heritage line up, the XSR125 features a bold line up of colours that are influenced by some of Yamaha’s legendary models from a bygone era. Featuring a strong horizontal motif, the Redline, Tech Black and Impact Yellow colour schemes combined with features like the rounded tank, long flat seat and circular headlight give this new 125 a bold and unique look that underlines its Faster Sons DNA – and just like the XSR900 and XSR700, the new XSR125 pays homage to the past, while looking ahead to the future by featuring the very latest technology including full LED lighting as well as an LCD meter.

Best-in-class 125cc 11kW engine
The XSR125 is driven by a responsive 125cc 4-valve liquid-cooled single-cylinder EU5 engine that is the same design as the unit used on the extremely successful MT-125 Hyper Naked and R125 Supersport models. This sophisticated and highly reliable powerplant produces a full 11kW, the maximum permissible in the A1 licence category, making it one of the strongest performers in the class.

One of the significant technological features on the XSR125 is Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system that enables the engine to produce plenty of torque at lower engine speeds together with excellent performance at higher speeds. The result is a bike that is easy and enjoyable to use around town, and as well as being able to deliver an exciting ride on the highway – and the whole riding experience is made even more enjoyable and rewarding by the beautifully-tuned exhaust note that brings out the strong character of the single-cylinder engine.

Being fully EU5 compliant, the XSR125’s low emissions enable it to be ridden in those city centres where increasingly strict air quality regulations may apply, making it an ideal commuter.

37mm USD front forks
In order to achieve first class roadholding together with responsive handling and an easy and enjoyable riding character, the XSR125 is equipped with 37mm USD front forks. Featuring a black finish that complements the bike’s timeless Sport Heritage character, these smooth-action forks play an important role in making this affordable commuter such a comfortable and nimble performer in different riding situations. This USD front end also underlines the XSR125’s premium overall specification at the same time as being one of the most affordable models in the quality 125cc class.

Stylish block pattern tyres
Yamaha’s Sport Heritage bikes are inspired by the past and built for the future, and the XSR125’s chunky block-pattern tyres emphasise the bike’s timeless good looks while providing high levels of traction. The combination of a wide 140/70-17 rear tyre and 110/70-17 front tyre together with lightweight 10-spoke alloy wheels ensures low unsprung weight for responsive suspension action, giving a confident riding character with easy and predictable handling, making this an ideal choice for first-time motorcyclists.

High-tech LED headlight and LED taillight
Another example of the affordable XSR125’s first-class specification is the fitment of sophisticated LED lighting. The full LED headlight features a classic shaped circular shell that epitomizes the bike’s unique blend of classic styling with up-to-the-minute technology, while the compact LED taillight underlines the bike’s agile and lightweight appearance.

Strong and light Deltabox frame
The chassis features Yamaha’s advanced Deltabox frame design with twin spars that run in a straight line from the steering head to the swingarm pivot to create an extremely strong yet lightweight chassis. Featuring a compact 1330mm wheelbase and accessible 810mm seat height, the XSR125 chassis is designed to accommodate riders of varying sizes, while the upright riding position and relaxed ergonomics make this lightweight Sport Heritage bike ideally suited to car drivers with a B1 licence* who are looking for a more enjoyable, effective and economical way to get into and around the city.
* Limitations and restrictions may apply per country under applicable local laws

Premium details
Few other models in the category are able to offer this level of affordability combined with such an impressive specification, and premium details can be seen throughout the bike. In addition to the previously described USD forks, LED headlight and LED taillight and full power 125cc 11kW VVA engine, this lightweight Sport Heritage bike is equipped with a wide range of attractive features such as a tuck and roll seat, painted mudguards and aluminium brackets that highlight the attention to detail that makes this bike stand out.

Circular LCD meter
Every detail on the XSR125 is designed to be true to the Faster Sons philosophy that sees timeless design blended with modern technology. The circular LCD meter is a perfect example of this approach, and it features a satin black body featuring a circular LCD meter with a bright chrome surround. The negative LCD meter displays clear and easy to read information, while the neo-retro look perfectly complements the round headlamp, painted mudguards and heritage colours and graphics.

Next generation MT-07: Evolution of the Hyper Naked species

The Dark Side of Japan
Founded on 1st July 1955, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., celebrated its 65th anniversary this year, and over the past seven decades the company has developed some of the industry’s most iconic models and been responsible for the introduction of a range of innovative technology that has transformed the riding experience.

Machines including the XT500, XS650 and RD350LC – through to the VMAX and YZF-R1 – have all achieved legendary cult status within the world of motorcycling, and have become an integral part of the Yamaha story. While justifiably proud of its past achievements, Yamaha’s focus is on the future, and by the end of the first decade of this century the company’s product development teams were on a mission to create a new generation of future icons.

To make a difference it is necessary to take a risk, and some of the company’s greatest designs have been those bikes that defied convention and dared to be different. So when Yamaha’s designers and engineers set about creating a new breed of motorcycles for the 21st century, they made the conscious decision to break all the rules and take a whole new direction. Rather than playing it safe by making a newer and better version of what was already out there in the market, Yamaha decided to   start all over again.

The next key decision in the development of this new generation of bikes was that they would be distinctly Japanese, with a unique look and feel that set them apart from every other brand. Playing with a variety of Japanese influences including Tokyo’s biking subculture, the development team were free to explore every possibility.

The focus would be on crafting a bike with a unique, thrilling and enjoyable riding experience, achieved primarily through the delivery of linear torque and easy agility.

Very price oriented and easy to ride for all type of customers, including female.
The look would be naked and mechanical, to give this new breed of distinctively Japanese bike a pure and muscular image. And every piece of technology would be there to serve the rider and create a more engaging, rewarding and satisfying riding experience.

Inspired by Japanese Subculture, and created by some of the most visionary designers in the business, the MT-07 arrived shortly after the very first MT-09 was launched, and the year 2014 marked the real beginning of the new Hyper Naked segment that has become the dominant force on the streets of Europe.

The motorcycle world was changing, and Yamaha were leading the way with two of the most significant new models to be launched by the company in its long and illustrious history. With over 250,000 units sold to date, the MT line is proving to be the most successful range ever produced by Yamaha.

Yamaha MT-07: The bike that works for everyone
When the MT-07 first arrived back in 2014 few people realised the immense impact that this 690cc twin-cylinder naked bike would have on the European market. But as soon as the first machines started to appear on the street the word was out that this was no ordinary motorcycle. All it took was one demo ride for the customer to realise that the MT-07 really was a different kind of machine.

MT stands for ‘Master of Torque’, and the outstanding crossplane technology engine proved to live up to its name, with its linear torque making the MT-07 a joy to ride in different riding conditions. Its compact chassis gave it an ideal blend of agility with stability – and the easy ergonomics and natural seating position made it a big success with riders of all ages and experience levels. Put simply, the MT-07 is a bike that works for everyone – and with its competitive price it can justifiably claim to offer the best balance of performance and value in its class.

European riders know what they want, and they soon realised that this accessible Hyper Naked was something very special. With over 125,000 units of MT-07 (full power and 35kW) sold since its launch, this is by far and away one of the Yamaha’s best-selling motorcycle, and it has been the number 1 model in the naked class every year since 2014, with almost twice as many units sold as its nearest rival.

Next generation Yamaha MT-07: Progressive evolution
As the best-selling naked model in its category from day one, it’s clear that the MT-07 is giving Yamaha’s customers exactly what they want in their bike. Featuring distinctive new bodywork that reflects its pure, next generation MT DNA, the 2021 MT-07 represents the progressive evolution of Europe’s favourite naked bike, and reinforces the core values of this outstandingly successful and much-loved middleweight.

A range of upgraded features including an engaging and characterful EU5-compliant engine as well as more powerful front brakes confirm the MT-07’s class-leading riding experience – while the overall feel of quality is underlined by the fitment of a new LED headlight with LED turn signals and position lights and LCD instruments. Tapered handlebars and a new tank and seat contribute towards a more comfortable upright riding position, while the latest Michelin sports tyres give confident roadholding – and turn up the fun factor up by another few clicks.

New colours and refined detailing reinforce the bike’s MT family DNA, and with an extremely competitive price point the MT-07 is ready to maintain its leading position as the bike that works for everyone by offering the best balance of performance and value in its segment.

Next generation design: Pure Hyper Naked DNA
The new model’s next generation bodywork reflects the ongoing evolution of the MT family, and gives the 2021 MT-07 a more refined and distinctive look with a quality feel.

The design concept was to make the new MT-07 the ‘Handsome Younger Sibling” in the Yamaha Hyper Naked family, and this next generation look was achieved by creating a strong and distinctive new style that is both more organic and mature.

Key to the new look is a compact and minimalist new LED headlight assembly whose position lights and headlight gives the front face a Y-shape icon that symbolizes the signature look of the next generation MT family. With minimal overhang, the new LED headlight underlines the sense of lightness and agility from the rider’s viewpoint, and by tightly compacting the new bodywork, radiator and seat around the machine’s CP2 engine, the mass-centralized layout projects a real sense of torque and power.

New winglets on the sides of the newly-designed 14-litre fuel tank covers feature sharply sculpted air ducts that visually convey the flow of the air into the engine, giving the bike a more dynamic stance and emphasizing the new model’s pure Hyper Naked DNA. The angle of the wing-like attachments at the rear of the body emphasizes the harmony of the overall design, and viewed from above the outwardly projecting air ducts contrast with the slim seat area to convey a feeling of agility and freedom of movement for the rider.

The newly developed fuel tank covers are manufactured from injection-moulded plastic resin to reduce weight, and a 3D moulded texture is featured around the rider’s knee grip area to give improved controllability for a sportier character. Many other details changes to the colour and finish of fork covers, footpegs, engine stays and engine covers serve to enhance the overall feeling of quality, underlining the MT-07’s winning combination of outstanding value with a premium specification.

LED projector lighting: Compact and powerful
Modern, compact and lightweight, the new bifunctional LED headlight features a centrally-located high/low projector lamp that transforms the character of this next generation model and underlines the pure MT DNA it shares with the all-new MT-09. As well as giving the MT-07 and bold and distinctive new look, this compact projector headlight produces a powerful beam with well-defined edges that provide excellent forward visibility during night time riding. New left and right side dual-layer, translucent LED position lights give the MT-07’s a signature Y-shape face that reaffirms its close family ties with the MT-09.

Latest EU5-compliant 690cc CP2 engine: More linear response
The latest 690cc 2-cylinder CP2 engine features a revised air intake duct design and optimized fuel injector settings, as well as a new 2-into-1 exhaust and new ECU.
These changes gives a more linear engine response, while maintaining the characterful performance.

The 2021 engine delivers a smoother torque/rpm curve for excellent top speed and thrilling acceleration, and with maximum torque of 67.0Nm/6.8kg-m produced at just 6,500rpm – and maximum power of 73.4PS/54kW at 9,000rpm – this is the ultimate middleweight powerplant.

A new electric purge cut valve and lightweight battery ensures easy starts even when the machine has been parked for longer periods, and the 2021 engine also features new Crystal Graphite engine covers, as well as a new silver-coloured exhaust pipe and new muffler and exhaust protectors.

The crossplane concept engine’s 270 degree crank gives an uneven firing sequence with a more characterful exhaust note that emphasizes the torque feeling during acceleration – and the 2021 powerplant’s more linear torque delivery ensures outstanding response at all engine speeds, making the MT-07 one of the most enjoyable and accessible bikes in any category.

Larger diameter 298mm dual front discs: More stopping power
One of the most significant technical upgrades on the MT-07 is the new high specification front braking system. Front dual disc size is increased from 282mm on the previous model to 298mm on the new bike, giving more stopping power and greater controllability with no gain in weight. Together with the 245mm rear disc, the new system offers increased performance – and with the fitment of the new tyres, the increased stopping power is especially apparent in wet conditions.

Wider tapered aluminium bars: A more upright and assertive riding position
The MT-07 is already regarded as being the bike that works for everyone thanks to its natural upright riding position and relaxed ergonomics that make it so popular with riders of all ages and experience levels.

Following numerous evaluations of clay models and many test rides using riders with different physiques, Yamaha designers have fine-tuned the new MT-07’s riding position in order to achieve added comfort and better controllability. The 2021 model is fitted with new aluminium tapered handlebars that are 32mm wider to give a more assertive riding position as well as a little extra leverage for easier manoeuvrability at slow speeds.

New LCD instruments: Lighter and easier to read
The 2021 model now features higher specification LCD instruments with spot colour. Inverted dashboard is similar to the unit fitted to the Tracer 700, and its compact and lightweight multifunction display with larger displays for the clock, gear, tripmeters and tachometer provides clear information. The use of spot colour gives an accent for key displays – and a new handlebar switch enables the rider to operate the meter more easily and efficiently.

LED flashers: Reinforcing the premium look and feel
Along with the new LED headlight the 2021 MT-07 is also equipped with new high intensity flashers at the front and rear. Lighter and more compact, they complement the next generation style of the bike and reinforce the premium specification of this best-selling Hyper Naked.

Latest generation tyres: High traction with excellent handling
New specification Michelin Road 5 tyres – 180/55-17 at the rear and 120/70-17 at the front – provide excellent levels of traction and sporty handling performance and excellent wet weather handling qualities, making the MT-07 the ideal choice for new and experienced riders.

New colours, graphics and finishing: reinforcing the MT DNA
For 2021 the new MT-07 is available in the latest colour schemes and graphics that reinforce the MT family connection and give a premium feel to this outstanding middleweight. New black levers give a refined look, and wiring in the cockpit area is rerouted to give an enhanced look.

New features Rider benefit
Next generation design Sharper and more dynamic Hyper Naked looks
LED projector lighting Better visibility, reduced weight, signature MT ‘Y-shape face’
690cc 2-cylinder EU5 CP2 engine EU5-compliant, strong linear torque, gutsy exhaust note.

Yamaha introduces its lightest drive unit and most practical battery

Yamaha introduces its lightest drive unit and most practical battery to the 2021 line-up of e-Bike systems.

New PWseries CE drive unit delivers a natural and enjoyable ride as the External Crossover 500 battery combines Yamaha’s high standard reliability with easy-handling design.

As the inventor of the Electrically Power Assisted Cycle (EPAC), Yamaha is at the forefront in the development of innovative new technologies that are helping to make the e-Bike the most significant force in future urban mobility. Many of today’s most renowned e-Bike brands specify Yamaha drive units and batteries as original equipment, and in recent years this important segment of Yamaha’s business operations has witnessed significant and sustained growth.

In order to ensure an even faster and more flexible service to European bicycle manufacturers in a rapidly expanding marketplace, Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd (YMC) in Japan transferred the responsibility for distributing its OEM e-Bike systems to Yamaha Motor Europe (YME) from July 1st, 2020. From its headquarters in Schiphol-Rijk, the Netherlands, YME’s close proximity to its European customers will enable the company to deliver an even more competitive and efficient service that will benefit manufacturers, dealers and end users alike.

Being one with the machine

New PWseries CE: Yamaha’s lightest, quietest and most compact drive unit

Yamaha invented the very first Electrically Power Assisted Cycle back in 1993, and since then the popularity of the e-Bike has grown at a phenomenal rate. In the last decade the introduction of highly efficient motors and more powerful batteries has transformed the performance and range of this environmentally-friendly vehicle, and today the e-Bike is emerging as a good alternative to public transport.

Urban Mobility is a key issue for everyone who lives or works in the city, and for 2021 Yamaha will respond to the public’s needs by introducing the PWseries CE drive unit and the External Crossover 500 battery, both of them perfectly suited to power the new generation of e-Bikes. With its extensive experience and knowledge of e-Bike technology, Yamaha has been able to create its lightest, quietest and most compact drive unit to enjoy a daily city ride – while the new External Crossover 500 battery provides increased versatility and practicality.

Yamaha’s lightest and most compact e-Bike drive unit

Rated at 250W and producing 50Nm of torque, the new PWseries CE drive unit weighs just 2.9kg*, making it the lightest drive unit ever created by Yamaha. It’s also extremely compact, enabling European e-Bike manufacturers to develop next-generation chassis designs with a sharper, slimmer and cleaner profile.

Yamaha’s engineers have worked tirelessly to make the PWseries CE operate as quietly as possible, and various noise-reducing features have succeeded in making this the company’s quietest ever drive unit. Thus, it’s meant for the ultimate zero-emission vehicle that can help to dramatically improve the quality of life for everybody in the city, and will also enable riders to immerse themselves fully in the beauty of nature.

Automatic Support Mode for a relaxed ride

When commuting into the city or taking a leisurely ride in the countryside, conditions are always changing – whether it’s up and down hills or the constant stop-start at traffic lights and junctions. In order to give a better riding experience the new PWseries CE drive unit features Yamaha’s industry-leading software that operates the innovative Automatic Support Mode. This intelligent system instantly responds to changing riding conditions and selects the most appropriate support mode to give its rider the best-suited support at any time, from smooth to strong.

Walk Assist function for easy pushing and manoeuvring

Everything about the design of the new PWseries CE drive unit is aimed at giving a more enjoyable e-Bike experience. By delivering a well-balanced level of support when the bike is being pushed, the refined Walk Assist function makes it much easier to manoeuvre and park a bike that needs to be taken up a slope or may be carrying a load, no matter what gear ratio the rider has chosen.

Yamaha sharpens up the winning Off Road Competition Range for 2021

New YZ250F aiming for the podium – while special Monster Energy® Yamaha Racing Editions for YZ250F and YZ450F offer genuine factory team style.

In the company’s 65th anniversary year the commitment to winning is as strong as it ever has been, with Yamaha riders powering to remarkable results across the world. 2020 got off to an outstanding start, with Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing rider Dylan Ferrandis defending his crown and scoring a back-to-back 250SX West Coast Championship title on his YZ250F a cross the Atlantic. And Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 rider Jago Geerts winning his first Grand Prix at the opening round of the FIM MX2 World Championship series.

The philosophy that racing should play a key role in the company’s operations started back in July 1955 when Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd was founded. Yamaha won its first race first time out, and on this day the company’s future direction was chosen. And still today, at every level within Yamaha, racing is deeply embedded within the company’s DNA – and the 2021 motocross range demonstrates that Yamaha continues to do whatever it takes to give every competitor the very real opportunity to fulfil their genuine potential.

With the strong range of high-performance 4-stroke and 2-stroke race bikes – as well as some of the world’s favourite kids’ dirt bikes – Yamaha is ready to welcome everybody to the victorYZone.

2021 YZ250F

New YZ250F: Tune. Race. Win.
The YZ250F has already made a big name for itself as one of the most competitive 250 4-strokes out there. At every level this outstanding motocross bike has proved that it has what it takes to win in all conditions, in MX and SX. For the 2021 model year Yamaha is aiming even higher with the launch of the new YZ250F – equipped with thoroughly refined engine, revised frame, new suspension settings, new brakes and advanced digital technologies in this ultra-competitive class.

Completely redesigned engine
Every major component has been redesigned and improved in order to give Yamaha riders a genuine advantage on the racetrack. With its industry-leading reverse cylinder head design that delivers enhanced intake efficiency and improved mass centralisation, the 250cc 4-valve powerplant is already in a class of its own.

For the 2021 model year Yamaha’s engineers have analysed each and every key component and made a large number of significant changes that are designed to give a wider band of stronger and smoother race-winning performance – as well as an enhanced transmission for slicker shifting.

New exhaust camshaft profile
The 2021 engine’s power feeling from the mid rpm range through to over-rev performance has been refined and improved by the use of a new exhaust camshaft with a revised profile that reduces valve overlap. Together with optimized fuel injection settings, this new camshaft improves the YZ250F’s engine character above mid rpm, giving a higher level of performance together with greater controllability.

All-new high-efficiency intake system
The YZ250F’s front-facing inlet is a key feature that gives this lightweight 4-stroke a very real advantage. As well as ensuring the delivery of cool and fresh air directly into the engine for increased combustion efficiency and instant throttle response, it also facilitates the use of a unique rearwards-inclined cylinder that achieves excellent mass centralisation which contributes towards the bike’s easy agility and lightweight handling.

The intake system on the 2021 model is all new, and the redesigned airbox does away with the intake funnel and has been shortened by 20mm to give a smoother and more direct route for the incoming air. Another key change is the use of a new air cleaner box cover mounted at the front of the seat. Featuring new ducts, the 2021 cover increases the volume of intake air to deliver even stronger performance at high rpm.

New high-performance muffler
To complement the increased high rpm performance of the 2021 engine, a new muffler with an increased capacity is fitted. Just 70mm longer than the previous design, the new system is constructed to give smoother acceleration especially at high rpm, and delivers a deep and subdued exhaust note that emphasises the torque-rich nature of this 250cc 4-stroke engine.

Stronger clutch housing and smooth-shifting transmissionficon blue
To complement the new engine’s increased performance the clutch housing has been redesigned. The clutch basket features thicker walls that are significantly stronger, giving increased durability and consistently strong performance throughout the race.

3rd, 4th and 5th gears on both the input and output shafts have been redesigned to give improved transmission performance, and selected gears are shot peened to give greater strength to match the increased engine performance.

Refined bilateral beam frame takes handling to a new level
The YZ250F is already renowned for its super-agile and lightweight handling – and ongoing evaluation and testing have enabled Yamaha’s designers to refine the frame structure and take chassis performance to the next level.

The 2021 YZ250F is equipped with a new aluminium bilateral beam frame that – while outwardly similar to the previous design – features a number of significant changes that match the increased performance of the 2021 engine and make a tangible improvement to handling feel and performance. By fine-tuning the frame’s rigidity levels at key locations, Yamaha’s designers have been able to create a chassis that achieves lightweight handling together with a precise and confident feel. Other chassis components such as the top triple clamp, handlebar mounts, and front axle were also redesigned to complement the new frame – all contributing to the 2021 model’s increased competitiveness.

Revised front and rear suspension settings give greater control
Yamaha’s motocross models are widely regarded as having one of the best suspension packages in the industry. At the front end the KYB® inverted coil spring-type forks feature speed sensitive damping to give outstanding handling performance, while at the rear end the KYB® shock and link-type Monocross system work together to deliver optimum control together with high levels of rear wheel traction.

To ensure it maintains its position as one of the very best motocross suspension systems ‘straight from the factory’, the 2021 package is further refined. The settings on the KYB® front forks are revised to give more progressive damping throughout the entire stroke, and this gives the rider a stronger feeling of contact with the track surface while also delivering better bump absorption that helps conserve rider energy. At the rear the KYB® shock runs with revised settings that give a more stable ride with a reduced tendency to pitch.

These important suspension improvements – combined with the refined rigidity balance of the bilateral beam frame – elevate the 2021 YZ250F’s handling qualities to an even higher level. As well as being lighter handling, the new model gives a more precise feeling that enables the rider to hold their chosen line for faster cornering. Front wheel and rear wheel traction is also improved by these chassis changes, giving greater levels of machine control for a real advantage over the opposition.

Lighter and more powerful braking system
Braking performance is increased and braking system weight is reduced for 2021. The redesigned front caliper is 30% more rigid than previously and uses larger diameter pistons and newly designed brake pads – while a new 270mm front disc achieves a 16% increase in pad contact surface area without any increase in weight. The rear brake caliper design is also new, and together with a new 240mm rear disc this system maintains the same level of braking power while weighing 120g less.

Delivering improved braking performance and better feeling, the new braking system makes an important contribution to the 2021 YZ250F’s increased competitiveness and enhanced ride quality.

YZ250F action

Revised handlebar position
In order to achieve the optimal riding position for enhanced controllability, the handlebars on the 2021 YZ250F are mounted further forward, enabling the rider to load the front end and shift their body weight over the front wheel as and when required.

New handlebar clamps are mounted to a new lighter top triple clamp, and both units feature a revised rigidity balance for reduced stress on the rider’s arms. The new chromoly steel footrests are also lighter, as is the new front axle shaft, enabling the Yamaha YZ250F to weigh in at just 106kg with a full 6.2 litre fuel tank and 0.95 litres of engine oil – just 3kg more than the YZ250 2-stroke.

Dynamic new Icon Blue bodywork with coordinated number plates
Yamaha Racing has made blue its very own, and for an even sharper and more dynamic look the 2021 YZ250F is equipped with new Icon Blue bodywork featuring colour coordinated front and side number plates. Also equipped with blue rims, cylinder head and other engine details, the 2021 model presents a more forceful and sleek appearance that is unmistakeably Yamaha DNA.

Yamaha Power Tuner
The industry-leading Power Tuner is an easy to use digital technology that enables YZ250F – as well as YZ450F – riders to fine-tune the bike’s engine power character at the trackside using their smartphone. Riders and mechanics can simply download the free Power Tuner App for IOS or Android devices, and then instantly connect with the YZ250F to make adjustments to fuel injection and ignition timing via the bike’s CCU. In the Power Tuner app riders can create their own settings, and using the handlebar mounted button they can switch between two of the maps.

Besides being able to make changes to the engine’s performance, the Power Tuner can also be used to record race log information and monitor a range of data, including system diagnostics, run time and maintenance – as well as comparing and sharing race logs and settings with fellow riders.

New Ténéré 700 Rally Edition

Iconic Dakar heritage colours, extra protection and a higher specification.

Since its launch the Ténéré 700 has quickly established itself as the best-selling middleweight adventure bike in Europe. – with over 8000 units sold to date. Combining characterful torque-rich engine performance with agile handling, remarkable all-round versatility and a high level of long distance comfort, the Ténéré 700 is proving to be an outstanding success.

The Ténéré legend has been growing since the very first Yamaha Ténéré adventure bike was introduced in 1983, and with its historic blue and yellow colours plus black Yamaha speedblock, the new Ténéré 700 Rally Edition celebrates the achievements of Yamaha’s Dakar heroes and their machines from a bygone era. These special colours are exclusive to the new Rally Edition, making this an extremely desirable and collectable motorcycle for every rider who appreciates the iconic status of the original Ténéré and the part it played in the Dakar and many other rally raid events. As well as its special colours, this premium adventure bike also features a higher standard specification, and is equipped with a range of lightweight components that offer increased protection and deliver a more dynamic rally riding experience.

The making of the Ténéré legend
Named after the massive sandy plain in the southern Sahara Desert that stretches from north eastern Niger to western Chad, the Ténéré can trace its beginnings all the way back to 1976 when Yamaha launched its first large-capacity 4-stroke single – the legendary XT500. Tough, good looking and with a unique thumper character, this enduro-style dual purpose bike was an immediate sales success in Europe and it became one of the company’s best-selling models for many years.

The XT and the Dakar
Perhaps the most significant chapter in the XT500’s remarkable story was its role in the burgeoning rally scene. Frenchman Thierry Sabine was a man with a dream of making real adventure accessible to every rider, and he realised that dual purpose enduro style bikes like the XT could open up a whole new era in off road riding. Sabine set about creating the ultimate off road challenge, and his dream came true in December 1978 when 182 vehicles assembled at the Place du Trocadéro in Paris for the start of the very first Paris-Dakar Rally. Amongst the two wheeled entry were many Yamahas, and with its rugged construction, off road chassis and high-torque thumper engine, the XT500 proved to be the ideal machine for this 10,000 kilometre event which was about to change the motorcycle world in so many ways for decades to come. Yamaha pilots Cyril Neveu and Gilles Comte made history by taking first and second overall at the inaugural Dakar, and 1980 witnessed another win by the Yamaha-mounted Neveu – with Yamaha XT riders also taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th overall. With its legendary status now assured, the XT500 went on to become one of the best-selling motorcycles in Europe with a huge and loyal following, and it set the scene for the development of a new generation of Yamaha adventure bikes that would enable every rider to embark on the journey of a lifetime.

The first Ténéré
Equipped with a large capacity fuel tank, long-travel forks, disc front brake and a single shock Monocross rear suspension system, the 1983 XT600Z Ténéré was Yamaha’s first purpose-built production adventure bike that took the performance of the XT range to a new level. Like the original XT500, the later XT600Z was to demonstrate its ability to handle the most extreme conditions in the Paris-Dakar Rally, and its strong performance contributed towards Yamaha’s unrivalled record of 18 podiums in the first 6 editions of the event.

Yamaha’s Dakar heroes
1983 also proved to be the year that the Paris-Dakar rally confirmed its fearsome reputation as the most extreme event in the motorcycle world – with over 40 competitors getting lost in the desert for up to 4 days, and 75% of the riders failing to finish. Riding the then new XT600Z Ténéré, Sonauto Yamaha team riders Serge Bacou and Jean-Claude Olivier took 5th and 7th respectively, a fantastic achievement for both the riders and the new bike. Olivier went on to take an impressive 6th place overall in ’84, with team mate Bacou 9th on their distinctive blue Ténéré race bikes, and in doing so they became an integral part of the history of the world’s most famous rally – and achieved legendary status as two of the most talented and charismatic rally raid competitors of their time. Known to everyone as ‘JCO’, Jean-Claude Olivier was not only one of the biggest personalities within the Dakar – he was also CEO of Yamaha Motor France! As well as being the toughest and most determined racer, JCO was a visionary businessman who made Yamaha the number one brand in France. JCO played a key role in making the Ténéré one of Yamaha’s most successful, legendary and enduring models – and the historic colours of the Ténéré 700 Rally Edition are a fitting tribute to him and his fellow Dakar heroes.

Heritage Rally colours
Launched in 2019, the Ténéré 700 is the result of one of Yamaha’s most intensive development programmes that involved some of the world’s leading rally raid riders testing and evaluating the prototypes in a wide range of terrain all over the world. With its compact and agile chassis as well as a characterful and torque-rich, 689cc, CP2 engine, this best-selling middleweight adventure bike has the ability to deliver thrilling off road performance together with exceptional long distance comfort on the highway. Proudly assembled in France by a dedicated workforce alongside the Ténéré 700, the new Ténéré 700 Rally Edition features a special blue and yellow livery that pays homage to the Yamaha race bikes ridden by JCO and Serge Bacou in the ’83 and ’84 editions of the Dakar rally. Yamaha lovers will recognise the iconic design from the XT600Z of 1983. Black Yamaha speedblock graphics reinforce the historic look, making this an authentic tribute to the men and their machines that inspired so many riders to travel beyond the next horizon in their search for new adventures and lasting memories.

Increased protection
The Ténéré 700 Rally Edition features a high specification as standard, and is equipped with a number of components that offer increased levels of chassis protection in off road riding situations. Manufactured from 4mm thick aluminium, the heavy duty skid plate gives a high level of protection to the engine and lower frame tubes, and also features a tool box mounting point. There’s also a black aluminium radiator protector that’s designed to prevent the ingress of small sticks or stones – and the laser-cut aluminium chain guard enhances the premium style of this special edition model.

Rally Seat
The exclusive one-piece Rally Seat gives a riding position that’s 20mm higher at 895mm, and this gives a straighter lower body position that makes it easier to move from sitting down to standing up on the footrests when riding off road. Its dual material construction gives a high quality feel and finish, and the white Yamaha logo complements the iconic heritage colours.

Akrapovič slip-on muffler
The 689cc, CP2 engine is fitted with an Akrapovič slip-on muffler that emits a rich, deep and throaty sound that enhances the high-torque sensation when accelerating. This high quality lightweight can is fitted with carbon heatshields that reinforce the overall feeling of quality.

LED flashers
Lightweight and compact LED flashers at the front and rear give a modern and sleek look, and help to give a sharper and more rugged appearance to this high specification adventure bike.

Grip pads
Special rubber grip pads come as standard on the Rally Edition, and these are designed to provide added knee and inner thigh grip during acceleration, enabling the rider to achieve optimum control.

Off road handlebar grips
To underline its genuine off road abilities the handlebars are equipped with off road grips that give a high degree for confident riding in dusty or muddy conditions.

Nick Sanders, motorcycle adventurer
Yamaha is proud to be associated with Nick Sanders, one of today’s greatest motorcycle adventurers who is currently on his 8th circumnavigation of the world. Having ridden over 1 million kilometres on many different brands, Nick knows exactly what he wants from an adventure bike, and his choice of the Ténéré 700 for his latest round the world trip speaks for itself. “It’s a proud and happy coincidence to make a film that fits the launch of the new Ténéré 700 Rally connected with huge historical importance to Dakar legend Serge Bacou. As a film-maker I had a brief to try and understand why the name Ténéré was so important to Yamaha. This was especially interesting because I was to ride the very first production Ténéré 700 on its inaugural adventure from Yamaha’s MBK factory near Paris and roughly follow parts of the original Paris-Dakar route to Senegal. It’s a road test. It’s an adventure. It’s also a film that gives a little insight into why ‘heritage’ is so important to a brand like Yamaha with a nod to JCO and of course Monsieur Bacou himself.” Nick is currently on the London-Sydney leg of this adventure, and his exploits can be followed at www.nicksanders.com/ and www.instagram.com/nicksandersofficial/. The new Paris-Dakar movie from Nick Sanders will be posted on Youtube channel MAD TV (Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV the 24th of June).

Yamaha unveils the recommended retail price of new Tricity 300

Yamaha unveils the pricing of the new Tricity 300, as well as three accessory pack options

Urban Mobility the smartest choice
Yamaha is taking the Urban Mobility segment to the next level with the introduction of the all-new Tricity 300 – a smart and modern 3-wheel scooter with a best-in-class specification and premium build quality. Its dynamic styling brings a fresh and sporty new look to the city streets – and being the lightest model in its class makes it ideal for first-time customers.

Easy to ride and accessible to ‘B’ licence car drivers*
The Tricity 300 can be ridden by customers who possess a full ‘B’ car licence. Its Yamaha-exclusive Leaning Multi Wheel (LMW) system gives sporty, agile and confident handling with a user-friendly character. Two front wheels means that the rider benefits from additional front-end traction and plenty of braking power from two front discs, which together reinforce the feeling of stability.

The lightweight chassis features a front-rear weight distribution of around 50:50 with a rider on board, and this – together with optimised steering geometry – contributes towards the Tricity 300’s natural steering and excellent stability, making it ideally suited to riders who may be new to 2 or 3 wheels.

Dynamic sports styling
By blending styling cues from Yamaha’s best-selling MAX Sport Scooters together with a touch of DNA from the prestigious NIKEN Sport Touring motorcycle, the Tricity 300 is one of the most dynamic looking 3-wheel models in its class. Its short and narrow nose emphasises the light and agile character – and the large diameter 14-inch front wheels and wide 120-section tyres convey a feeling of front-end stability and traction.

Powerful, smooth and economical BLUE CORE engine
The new Tricity 300 is driven by Yamaha’s latest BLUE CORE engine – one of the most sophisticated designs in the category, offering an ideal balance of performance, economy and versatility. The liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 300cc, 4-valve, single-cylinder engine is based on the advanced design used by the best-selling XMAX 300 Sport Scooter and delivers strong acceleration together with good fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness.

Premium specification
As well as being the lightest model in its class, the Tricity 300’s high specification includes a number of premium features, including large diameter disc brakes with a Unified Braking System and ABS for greater controllability on a wide range of road surfaces. Its spacious underseat storage can accommodate two full-face helmets or one full-face helmet and an A4-sized briefcase, and the compartment is fitted with internal LED lighting. Other standard features include Smart Key operation and a Traction Control System, as well as easy-to-read LCD instruments and a parking brake.

Standing Assist system for extra convenience
A key feature on the new Tricity 300 is its Standing Assist system that provides extra convenience by helping the machine to remain upright when stopped. As soon as the throttle is opened the Standing Assist system disengages automatically, enabling the rider to pull away smoothly and effortlessly. By helping to keep the Tricity 300 temporarily in an upright position, the Standing Assist system also makes it easier when placing the vehicle on its main stand.

Yamaha and RCS Sport Announce Mobility Initiative

Yamaha and RCS Sport Announce Mobility Initiative in Support of COVID-19 Containment Measures.

Last Saturday 9th May the Yamaha NIKEN motorcycle fleet provided by Yamaha Motor Europe to support cycling’s three Grand Tours was due to take to the roads for the start of the 103rd edition of the Giro d’Italia, which was scheduled to get underway with the Grande Partenza in Budapest, Hungary.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic all three Grand Tours, the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France and La Vuelta, have been postponed until later in the year but Yamaha’s NIKEN fleet will not stand idle over the summer months.

Working in close cooperation with RCS Sport, Yamaha has arranged to supply for the coming months the NIKEN vehicle fleet, which was provided to support the Giro d’Italia in 2020, to medical staff and other essential workers in Italy to assist in the fight against COVID-19.

The revolutionary three-wheeled machine is the perfect mobility solution for essential workers, as it minimizes personal contact and reduces the risk of COVID-19 transmission, while allowing for improved transfer times between medical facilities in an urban environment.

The NIKEN fleet will be released to the Red Cross in Italy, with the international humanitarian organisation identifying which areas of their ongoing operations in support of combatting COVID-19 would benefit the most. The NIKEN bikes will also be used by essential workers delivering care services, as well as home deliveries for those who require support.

The NIKEN fleet is being made available as Italy makes the transition from lockdown to more normal life and will be a key component in the efforts to contain the virus in a country that has suffered greatly these past months.

Paolo Pavesio, Director Marketing and Motorsports:
“Mobility will be key as countries make the transition from lockdown to normality, especially for humanitarian organisations like the Red Cross, who continue to play a vital role in supporting medical services across Europe. The NIKEN fleet with which Yamaha normally provides support to cycling’s main events in Europe is the ideal mobility solution for the Red Cross, providing a form of transport that will allow staff to deliver medical support, medicines or food to those who need it, whilst minimising contact during these essential journeys. I would like to thank RCS Sport for their assistance with providing this service to the Italian Red Cross.”
