Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in electric motorcycles and powertrains, is offering an additional £900 incentive to motorcyclists upgrading to the Californian company’s award-winning all-electric machines, meaning savings of £2400 on the list price of the range-topping SR/F and SR/S models.

With the lifting of ‘lockdown’ restrictions and an increased desire from consumers to find socially responsible and self-isolating ways to get around, Zero Motorcycles’ UK dealerships have found record interest in the all-electric range since reopening their doors. The Upgrade to Electric incentive sits alongside the UK Government’s Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) grant of £1500, which is available as a discount on all Zero models sold in the UK. That means buyers of the SR/F, MCN’s current Electric Motorcycle of the Year, and the new-for-2020 SR/S can benefit from a whopping £2400 off the retail price of their new machine. Alternatively they can use the Upgrade to Electric credit as a deposit for a PCP or hire purchase deal. All Zero motorcycles also benefit from low running costs and are exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty (road tax) and any local low emissions zone or congestion charges, making them a cost effective day-to-day transport solution.

Zero currently has a retail network of 18 outlets across the British Isles, with each dealership offering demo rides of the transformational machines to prospective customers. The SR/S was released as a new model in February and joins the SR/F as the company’s flagship product. The effortlessly powerful motorcycles are driven by Zero’s proprietary powertrain, which produces an astounding 110 hp and 190Nm of torque. Each model can charge through any wall socket or at over 90% of the public EV charge network through fast, Level 2 chargers. With up to 18kwh of battery capacity, the Zero models are capable of up to 201 city miles of range per charge with the optional Power Tank fitted, while the sleek and aerodynamic full fairing of the SR/S allows for up to 13% more range when riding in a tucked position. Additionally, each bike is powered by Zero’s proprietary operating system, Cypher III, which controls every subordinate technology on the bike including the full complement of Bosch Motorcycle Stability Controls like straight line and cornering ABS, Drag Torque Control, and Traction Control.

With discounts applied, prices start at £16,590 for the SR/F, and £17,190 for the SR/S. Buyers are also able to take advantage of Hire Purchase and PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) plans through Zero’s UK finance partner, MotoNovo, and buyers are able to purchase an SR/F for less than £300 per month with no money down (see example below).

EFFORTLESS POWER
Pouring out 190 Nm of torque and 110 horsepower with a twist of the wrist, the new SR/S offers class-leading performance and efficiency from Zero’s ZF 75-10 motor and 14.4kWh lithium-ion battery.

The compact powertrain boasts innovative air-cooling that increases longevity, eliminates most routine maintenance and effortlessly launches the SR/S to a 124mph top speed. A single charge delivers up to a 200 mile range with the addition of Zero’s Power Tank.

The innovative Rapid Charge System works on the large and growing network of Level 2 charge stations and provides a platform that allows for up to three independent charging modules. This enables unique adaptability and the fastest recharge capacity in Zero’s lineup. With all three modules installed, the SR/S can charge from 0 to 95 percent capacity in one hour.

The uniquely designed steel-trellis frame and concentric swingarm of the SR/S optimizes torque delivery to the rear wheel, allowing the bike to harness the full capabilities of the new powertrain.

With an arsenal of ride modes, the SR/S allows riders to customize performance through Zero’s intuitive next-generation app and dash interface. The SR/S expertly navigates the road no matter the conditions with Street, Sport, Eco, Rain and up to 10 programmable custom modes. Additionally, the motorcycle is equipped with a dual radial front brake system, adding a level of control that makes shedding speed as effortless as building it.

EFFORTLESS CONNECTION
The SR/S is a truly smart motorcycle thanks to Zero’s Cypher III operating system, and one of the first commercially available connected motorcycles on the market. Connectivity gives the rider the ability to monitor the bike in four main areas: Bike Status and Alerts, Charging, Ride Data Sharing, and System Upgrades and Updates.

1. Bike Status and Alerts: The SR/S alerts riders regarding bike status, including interruptions in charging and tip-over or unexpected motion notifications. In addition, the “Find my Bike” function allows riders to keep tabs on the motorcycle at all times.
2. Charging: The SR/S takes the convenience of recharging to new levels with the ability to remotely set charging parameters, including Targeted Charge Levels, notification of State of Charge (SoC), Charge Time Scheduling and Charge Tracking. These notifications allow riders to control all aspects of charging and to monitor charge status even when away from the motorcycle.
3. Ride Data Sharing: Riders can gather, relive and share extensive data about their ride through the app. An industry first, the motorcycle records bike location, speed, lean angle, power, torque, SoC and energy used/regenerated. Riders can replay each ride and also choose to upload additional content to record and share their full experience. Riders also have the option to keep data anonymous.
4. System Upgrades and Updates: New updates and diagnostic capabilities allow riders to remotely download the latest Cypher III operating system release to ensure optimal performance and provide access to feature improvements.

All the benefits of connectivity are offered free-of-charge for the first two years with the purchase of a new SR/S.

The standard model with 3 kW Rapid Charger starts at £18,090, while the premium SR/S model with 6 kW Rapid Charger, heated hand grips and aluminum bar ends starts at £20,090 (quoted prices are after the deduction of the £1500 government grant for electric vehicles).

Both premium and standard models are available in Skyline Silver and Cerulian Blue colour schemes. The new Zero SR/S ships to dealers starting March 2020.

The new Zero Motorcycles Factory Service Center has opened at the company’s EMEA HQ in the Netherlands, offering increased support to its customers through the expanding dealer network.

The all-electric motorcycle company, founded in 2006, enjoyed significant growth in 2019, thanks in no small part to the introduction of the all-new SR/F. The award-winning machine has introduced a number of new customers to the brand, and the inauguration of the Factory Service Center for 2020 marks a new era for Zero Motorcycles in Europe.

The Factory Service Center will be staffed by Zero Motorcycles-trained professionals, with the capability of providing technical assistance throughout the European dealer network. Zero motorcycles ordered through the Factory Service Center programme will be delivered turn-key, eliminating the need for dealers to order in and fit additional parts and accessories, such as the range-extending Power Tank and uprated charging systems, which can allow the cutting-edge 14.4kwh batteries to be fully recharged in less than an hour.

All Zero motorcycles are designed, developed and built at Zero Motorcycles’ headquarters in Scotts Valley, California. The products are shipped to the Factory Service Center at Zero’s wholly owned European HQ in Noord-Scharwoude, 50km north of Amsterdam, where the bikes undergo a pre-delivery inspection and are fitted with the customer’s chosen components, before being shipped to their official Zero Motorcycles dealer for final handover. The local dealership will also continue to carry out regular service and warranty work.
