Akrapovic Gives The Yamaha Tmax The Racing Line

Akrapovič has introduced the Racing Line (Titanium) exhaust system for the Yamaha TMAX, which will take the sporting credentials of this maxi scooter on to even higher levels and improve the appearance and styling of this best-selling machine.

This totally new system has been developed from a concept that Akrapovič first aired at EICMA 2015, and demonstrates that the Slovenian exhaust specialist is constantly looking towards the future with its innovative and high-tech exhaust technology.

The TMAX is maxi scooter that already has a commanding presence on the road, and the addition of the EC/ECE type approved Racing Line (Titanium) adds further to the allure of this machine. Designed and engineered to fit within the sporty lines of the TMAX, this beautifully finished Akrapovič exhaust system will take it to new aesthetic heights, as it perfectly enhances the scooter’s profile. Built with a lightweight high-grade titanium muffler outer sleeve and stainless steel header, the system has an imprinted design relief that blends in with the handmade carbon fibre end-cap, giving a visual impact that is the ideal finishing touch to this stylish system.

The use of race-proven materials has produced an exhaust system that weighs 42% less than the stock version, all designed to aid handling both in the urban jungle and out on the open roads. The Yamaha TMAX is a machine that combines scooter convenience with motorcycle performance, and Akrapovič has increased this ethos with a power increase throughout the entire rpm range, but most importantly at the lower end of the revs, where the TMAX most needs it to nip through city streets. This mix of performance and appearance is boosted further with a unique soundtrack that gives a deeper Akrapovič tone and is a huge improvement over the standard sound.

With simple plug-and-play installation and no remapping necessary, the easy-to-install exhaust system is Euro 4 compliant, and is certainly a system that gives the scooter a serious step forward in exhaust tuning technology. The Racing Line is an addition that will take the Yamaha TMAX to an unrivalled position in the maxi scooter market and will certainly make its riders want to take their machines around the urban streets and beyond, to fully experience the beauty and performance of an Akrapovič exhaust system.

AirHawk Integrated Seats for BMW R1200 GS

AirHawk’s new Integrated Seats are designed to take the pressure out of long rides, using AirHawk’s proven Comfort Seating System air pockets to minimise pressure points and provide shock absorption for the pelvis and spine.

Designed as a direct replacement for the original bike seat, the first applications will fit all years of BMW R1200 GS and Adventure models.

Ergonomically designed to distribute the rider’s weight equally over the entire seat, and sculpted to prevent the rider sliding towards the tank, AirHawk’s Comfort Seating System air pockets are built into each seat, so riders can enjoy the same benefits they’ve always known of AirHawk, now built into the seat unit.

An integrated pump with a bleeder valve enables the rider to adjust the air pressure easily, even while seated, so comfort and seating position can be altered according to changes in the road surface and length of time in the saddle, while a breathable and water-repellent spacer mesh helps to keep the rider cool and dry.

AirHawk Integrated Seats come in either standard seat height or a lowered version, which is 31.75mm lower than the factory seat. There are four models to choose from;

Öhlins launch revolutionary new TTX Flow MX shock!

Swedish suspension brand Öhlins celebrate their 40th Anniversary with new dirt bike product, reflecting their origins

Having started life as motocross suspension specialists, Öhlins Racing AB celebrate their 40th Anniversary with a radical new rear shock, the TTX Flow!

Extensively developed and tested for two years, TTX Flow offers unrivalled bike stability and traction within a full redesign, which has also been created to be extremely easy to maintain and set-up.

See it in action here! : www.ohlins.com/ttx-flow

The shock features new patent pending pressure technology combined with an all new ‘spool’ check-valve system which essentially helps the shock cope with multiple forces at once and ‘forget’ them extremely quickly, retaining chassis balance. In rider feedback this equates to vastly improved handling in whoops, braking bumps (so the rear wheel doesn’t go light) and absorbing harsh hits where the bike needs to remain settled for a large jump. Bottoming resistance is also improved through the introduction of a new bump rubber cup unit.

The TTX flow has also been fully redesigned through every single component to make it much more rider and mechanic friendly, for both maintenance and set-up. The spring is now extremely easy to change due to a new spring clip design and the simple spring pre-load adjustment is more robust. Adjustments can easily be made to compression and rebound with a new indicator to show positioning.

The system retains the Öhlins patented TTX (Twin Tube) Technology with a 46mm piston and 16mm piston rod. There are a wide range of springs to suit rider weight and riding style. Available for all main adult MX and Enduro models.

Christopher Nilsson, Product Specialist MC Offroad, explains, “We have been working on TTX Flow for several years and are really excited to be able to launch it for our 40th anniversary. The shock has been developed to solve the many challenges with setup-tradeoffs that MX riders are faced with. With TTX Flow, there is no need for a compromised setup, this shock can handle everything thrown at it. We’re also proud to have designed the shock to be easier for our customers to use and service”.

TTX Flow features at a glance:

  • Newly developed shock featuring TTX-technology
  • 46 mm piston and 16 mm piston rod
  • A new 58 mm gas reservoir on majority of applications
  • Patent pending pressure technology
  • Improved bottoming resistance through new design of bump rubber cup
  • Compression and rebound adjustments with indicator
  • Easy and cost effective to service
  • Simple spring change due to new spring clip design
  • Spring preload adjustment more robust
  • Wide range of springs
  • Most new and recent MX and Enduro models covered

Do a stretch on your GS with Wunderlich

Wunderlich Highway Pegs help R1200GS LC riders stretch out during long days in the saddle.

Previously the preserve of custom and cruiser bikes, forward-mounted footpegs allow a much more relaxed riding position, taking the strain out of motorway riding when legs are often locked in one position for long periods.

Much safer than resting riding boots on crash bars, the pegs are serrated to help the sole get a firm grip and are flared at the outer edge to prevent the foot slipping off. Optional non-slip rubberised covers are also included, for extra grip.

Made from sturdy yet lightweight aluminium – coated to reduce the risk of corrosion – they add minimal weight and are hinged so can be folded away when not in use.

The pegs mount directly to Wunderlich crash bars. Adapters are also supplied, so they can be fitted to round tubes between 20 mm to 28.5 mm diameter.

Wunderlich Highway Pegs retail at £100- including VAT per pair, and are supplied with all fixings required. They fit all models of liquid-cooled BMW R1200 GS, fitted with tubular crash bars.

R&G Launches Range of FIM Compliant Moulded Lever Guards

R&G, an official Supplier to the MCE British Superbike Championship, is pleased to be launching a new range of fully FIM compliant moulded lever guards in response to a high demand for various colours and a more budget-conscious option than R&G’s successful pure carbon fibre lever guard.

The bike-specific and racing clip-on-compatible guards are made from a tough and flexible grade of nylon and come supplied with all the required hardware to be quickly and easily installed. Available to fit both the clutch and brake lever side, the new moulded lever guards come in five different colours (black, blue, red, orange and green).

Fully compliant with FIM racing regulations, the new range of R&G moulded lever guards made their racing debut recently with the Moto Rapido Ducati British Superbike team at Brands Hatch. The full range is in stock now and pricing is £39.99 each, inc. VAT.

R&G UK Sales Manager Alan Garrett commented “We’re very excited to be launching this range of moulded lever guards. We have often had requests for guards in various colours and we can now not only offer customers that, but also a viable option for the more budget-conscious racer.”

R&G Becomes Distributor of Kaoko Throttle Stabilizers

R&G is excited to announce it has joined forces with Kaoko, the world leader in Friction Type Throttle Controls, to become exclusive UK distributor of its world-renowned Throttle Stabilizers.

Kaoko’s first “Cruise Control System” arrived in 2001 after owner Roy Mentis discovered he suffered from an extremely tired wrist during his travels through Kaokoveld in Namibia – one of the last remaining true wilderness areas on earth.

Being specifically designed for the make and model of each machine, the Kaoko Throttle Stabilizer installs easily, by simply replacing the OEM bar end weight. The system can then be engaged whilst rolling on the throttle by gripping the friction nut on the Kaoko bar weight between the small finger and palm of the hand, which maintains a slight rotational resistance on the throttle whilst still allowing the rider to open and close the throttle as needed.

R&G Managing Director Simon Hughes commented “The Kaoko Throttle Stabilizer system is a simple, yet ingenious, piece of technology that will prove to be the perfect accessory for those riders who regularly travel long distances. It is very easy to install and simple to use and will greatly reduce rider fatigue and strain on riders’ hands and wrists.”

Scottoiler introduces Off-Road bike protector spray

Motorcycle chain oiler manufacturer Scottoiler has introduced a new protector spray specifically targeted to the off-road community. The product, labelled TMX 365, is formulated to protect the bike during the ride and make cleaning easier afterwards. TMX 365 does not contain Silicone or PTFE and is readily biodegradable. According to Scottoiler, TMX 365 satisfies a market demand for an easy-to-apply ride protection that also makes post-ride cleaning less of a chore.

The new product is based on the popular FS 365 protector spray, it offers robust protection from the environment, and eases the cleaning process. TMX 365 leaves no sticky residue and is water soluble, so any dirt or mud can be easily washed off solely with water.

Scottoiler Sales and Account manager Stuart West-Gray said: “We had fantastic feedback from various bikers riding off-road, from Motocross to Trials, about the way TMX 365 works. It finally gives them a pre-ride option that protects their precious motorcycle during the day and makes cleaning it afterwards a breeze.”

Protect Your Shock With R&G and Shocktube®

The rear shock is one of the most important (and expensive!) parts of a modern motorcycle and yet it is highly exposed to damage and road debris. Distributed by R&G, Shocktube prevents damage from road salt, water spray and stone chipping, protecting this key component for a substantially extended period of time.

The effects from road debris such as salt, water spray and stone chipping, are detrimental to the exposed rear shock absorber and over time can result in its premature failure or, at worst, an accident. The R&G-distributed Shocktube provides riders with peace of mind, protecting against these factors to substantially extend the life of the shock absorber.

Shocktube is a high-impact, waterproof, vented tube that is made from top quality, bonded 100% CR Neoprene™ which is double lined with stretch nylon on both sides. Capable of being quickly fitted to most motorcycles with monoshock or twin shock systems, without the need to remove the shock, Shocktube completely encloses the absorber and spring. View it being fitted to a Kawasaki ZX-10R here.

Bruce Smart, solo round the world motorcyclist better known as TeapotOne, used Shocktube on his 100,000-mile journey, “I’ll admit, when I first got it I did think to myself, “Do I really need this?” but fast forward a year and I couldn’t live without it. I’d put the bike through every imaginable test and weather condition and the rear shock hadn’t let me down once – even after a bang so severe it cracked my rear sub-frame! I really can’t recommend it enough, it’s so easy to fit and absolutely no hassle to live with.”

Available exclusively from R&G for every manufacturer and in a vast array of sizes, you can view the full range at http://www.rg-racing.com/browsetype/Shocktube/ or alternatively, visit www.shocktube.co.uk
