Open Day Marks Launch of Kings Two Wheel Centre New Showroom

Kings Two Wheel Centre celebrated the opening of its brand new showroom earlier this month, with an open day on October 21 that was supported by Suzuki, that saw the Japanese firm provide a fleet of test ride bikes and a special display of classic road and race machines.

The Oxford-based dealership’s relocation from its current premises to a converted factory building has almost doubled the size of the showroom, with a stylish mezzanine floor that means more bikes can be displayed with space for customers to look around and try them for size.

As well as opening the new showroom, visitors on the day were able to try the new GSX-R1000R, V-Strom 650 and 1000, both the GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F, the new GSX-S750, and the SV650. Display bikes also included the newly-launched GSX-R125 and GSX-S125, plus the V-Strom 250, as well as Barry Sheene’s world championship-winning XR14 machines. Buildbase Suzuki’s British Superbike star, Bradley Ray, was also in attendance.

Dealer principal, Steve Polden, who has worked in the motorcycle industry since 1985 and, along with his family, remains heavily involved in motorcycle racing, said of the move. “We moved into our previous premises in 2007 and it worked well, but with the new building it was a chance to start from scratch and create a showroom that was exactly how we wanted it. The additional space makes it easier to properly showcase bikes, and it means customers don’t need to ask for bikes to be pulled out for them to be able to look around them properly. Some customers want to be left to their own devices when it comes to looking at bikes before speaking to staff, and look around at their leisure without a salesman standing over them. So the new space means that is possible, and then we’re on hand when they want to talk in more detail. It’s also a great project for the Suzuki brand. The new showroom looks fantastic and carries a very strong brand image, and comes at a good time where there are so many new Suzuki models to choose from.”

Kings Two Wheel Centre’s new showroom can be found at St George’s House, Langford Lane, Kidlington, Oxford, OX5 1HT. Adjoining the showroom will also be a Helmet City outlet, retailing the latest in riding kit and leisure wear.

Open days mark Suzuki appointment of Via Moto and Youles Motorcycles

Suzuki GB continues to expand its dealer network, with Via Moto in Sheffield and Youles Motorcycles in Blackburn both hosting customer open days to mark the acquisition of the Suzuki franchise.

Both events saw Suzuki provide a number of display bikes and additional test ride machines. On display were Barry Sheene’s 1976 and 1977 world championship-winning RG500s, along with Kevin Schwantz’s 1993 RGV500 and Kenny Roberts Juniors’ 2000 RGV500, both of which also took world championship glory in their respective years. Suzuki’s purpose-built events unit attended both events, and hosted a number of test rides, providing additional machines such as the all-new GSX-R1000 and the new V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 1000 adventure bikes for customers to try.

Hosted on September 23, the Via Moto open day also saw reigning National Superstock 1000 champion and Bennetts Suzuki British Superbike rider Taylor Mackenzie in attendance, plus a 10% discount across the range of clothing and accessories. They have a great range of bikes from learner machines right through to TT-winning superbikes, and with such a depth of range there really is something for everyone. Also, the support we have received from Suzuki has been fantastic and the opportunity to view the championship-winning bikes and new GSX-R125 and GSX-S125 proved to be a big draw with our customers.”

Via Moto’s Matthew Gilder, commented, “The open day in September was a brilliant way to mark the opening of the new Suzuki showroom, and having such iconic bikes on display added another element to the day for all of our customers. It’s not very often you get to see bikes such as Barry Sheene’s world championship-winning machines up close. We’re really looking forward to working with Suzuki and are delighted to be taking on the franchise. It’s a brand with a lot of history and a loyal customer base, and with so many new models this year, an extensive range.”

Suzuki GB national sales manager, Jonathan Martin, said of the new appointments, “With both Via Moto and Youles Motorcycles we have dealerships that both have enthusiastic and knowledgeable teams of sales staff and workshop technicians. That level of enthusiasm and passion was demonstrated at theirrecent open days. Via Moto and Youles Motorcycles will service key areas for Suzuki in the UK, and we’re looking forward to a successful working relationship together.”

KTM Ready to Race SX Model Range 2018 Arriving in Dealers Soon

KTM is pleased to announce that its world-beating motocross line-up has received further refinements for model year 2018, and includes a brand new KTM 85 SX machine for junior riders as part of the class-leading SX range.

With its 2-stroke and 4-stroke machines, from the KTM 50 SX to the KTM 450 SX-F ultimate powerhouse, KTM offers high quality serial equipment in all of its motocross range. As developed for its factory racing teams, which have won numerous races and championships, including last year’s AMA 450 Supercross title with Ryan Dungey, as well as the FIM MX2 World Championship with Jeffrey Herlings, these KTM serial machines are renowned for being READY TO RACE right out of the crate.

For model year 2018 KTM introduces a brand new KTM 85 SX for junior riders that are cutting their teeth in the schoolboy ranks. With the serious competitor in mind, this machine has a new engine that is 0.69 kg lighter than the previous model, with improved power and rideability throughout the complete RPM range. In addition, the KTM 85 SX receives a lighter chassis with a revised chromium molybdenum steel frame as crafted by WP Performance Systems, as well as a lighter subframe. This READY TO RACE Mini, which joins the KTM 50 SX and KTM 65 SX in KTM’s line-up of premium junior equipment, is fitted with high-quality Formula brakes, WP AER 43 forks and a specifically developed WP Xplor progressive damping system (PDS) shock absorber, which provides excellent sensitivity and outstanding bottoming resistance with full adjustability.

In the adult range the KTM 125 SX and KTM 150 SX now feature new aluminum head stays, as well as a new CDI control unit for improved starting behaviors. As with all of KTM serial equipment, the 4-stroke range, including the KTM 250 SX-F, KTM 350 SX-F and KTM 450 SX-F, boasts high-quality, class-leading components from the all-important E-starter, to the WP suspension, traction control and map selection, and much more to compliment the super lightweight, yet powerful championship winning engines.

In addition, the complete model year 2018 SX range including both 2-stroke and 4-stroke machines feature revised suspension settings in the WP AER 48 forks, along with a factory-looking orange frame plus, brand new graphics to finish the look.

“Once again our engineers in the KTM R&D department in Mattighofen, Austria have refined the very successful SX range. The adult bikes showcase a sportier look just like the factory bikes with their orange frames, while we’ve also spent some time working on the Mini range for the developing juniors and stars of tomorrow. In particular the incredibly successful KTM 85 SX has had a real overhaul with its new chassis, engine and suspension, which have been re-designed for improved rideability whatever the level of rider. As always these bikes are READY TO RACE right out of the crate and we look forward to releasing the SX model year 2018 range,” said Joachim Sauer, Product Marketing Offroad.

Model year 2018 KTM SX models will be arriving in dealers from May onwards. For detailed pricing information and availability, please contact your local KTM subsidiary or importer.

Simple Scooter Security from Vespa

A handlebar lock is a simple, yet highly effective, security system, which is always available, wherever you go, because it is permanently attached to the scooter.

One end of the armour-plated cable is fixed to a bracket beneath the seat and the other can be locked to the handlebar in a few seconds, preventing the scooter from being ridden or wheeled away.

When not in use, it is fixed neatly between the footrest and seat, so it doesn’t occupy space in the compartment under the seat or in the top box.

Unlike traditional chain locks, which are secured through the wheels, the handlebar lock is much cleaner to use too.

A 1.0 metre extension cable is also available, should the rider wish to secure the scooter to a lamp post, railings or another anchor point.

Two versions are offered in sizes to fit most current models from Vespa and Piaggio.

Retail prices for the standard handlebar lock start at £47.99 including VAT.

The luxury handlebar lock offers the highest level of security and comes with an STS locking system, anti-drill coating, 7 mm hardened steel (carbo-nitride) joints, stainless steel internal cable and anti-leverage mounting bracket. Prices start at £126.99.

The 1.0m extension cable sells for £45.99. All prices include VAT.

Ride into the record books with Staffordshire Triumph

A leading Triumph motorcycle dealership is giving riders across the West Midlands the chance to become World Record holders. Staffordshire Triumph is seeking to smash the record for ‘Largest Parade of Triumph Motorcycles’ on Sunday 04 September 2016, and is calling for participants to sign-up.

Raising funds for Jessica Simpkin HELP, a charity that campaigns for children’s brain tumour research, Staffordshire Triumph will attempt to beat its own record, which was set last year. Gathering together 362 motorcycles, the event took the title as the biggest ever parade of Triumph bikes.

John Adkins, co-organiser of the 2016 attempt, commented: “This is a fantastic event to raise money for a really worthy cause and we’re delighted to have the support of Staffordshire Triumph. After an unsuccessful Australian attempt in January of this year, we’re hoping to gather even more Triumph riders together and make history.”

As the incumbent record holders, we’d love to smash our own record, as well as raise money and awareness for a very important cause. Paul Lilly, general manager of Triumph UK, said: “Pidcock Triumph perfectly represents Triumph’s vision of new-look stores, which are being rolled out across the UK as we speak. These are a hugely exciting part of our brand development strategy, positioning Triumph as a truly desirable premium brand. The Triumph customer experience begins on entry to the store, with a welcome feeling of being part of an authentic lifestyle, ensuring pride in owning a part of the Triumph brand – whether that be a motorcycle, clothing or merchandise.”

Triumph returns to the North East

The iconic Triumph name is set to return to the North East, with the launch of a new flagship retail site in Newcastle upon Tyne. The new Triumph showroom, which officially opens this spring, will be located in the city centre’s Plummer Street, a move from its former site on Dinsdale Place.

With a 35-year history as a motorcycle dealer in the city, Newcastle Motorcycles is excited to unveil its new Triumph showroom to local customers, ideal timing as riders begin to gear up for the spring and summer. The official dealer opening will be in May, although the business is already trading, allowing Newcastle consumers to experience Triumph’s new range of 2016 motorcycles – including the Street Twin, Bonneville T120, Speed Triple, Tiger Explorer, Tiger Sport and Thruxton.

Craig Smith, dealer principal at Newcastle Motorcycles, commented: “We are thrilled to represent such an iconic brand in the North East. With the motorcycle industry thriving at the moment, we hope the new showroom will be able to attract additional customers to Triumph, as well as welcoming existing Triumph riders and fans.”

The showroom is planned to be an interim solution while long term premises are secured, however it will still be a key part of Triumph Motorcycle’s contemporary approach to retailing. Sporting the latest Triumph identity, the aim is to provide customers with an even better viewing and customer experience. In addition, Triumph’s products, including accessories and clothing, will be displayed in more of a high-street fashion store set-up to enhance the appeal of the products.

With the recent global launches of Triumph’s 2016 motorcycle range, the next 12 months will be hugely important for Triumph dealers throughout the UK, and the launch of Triumph Newcastle will play a crucial role in that development
